Grand Riviera Princess

This resort is amazing!! Came back from a 14 night stay in August. Before I went I read some of the reviews on here and I didn’t know what to expect. Here is the honest truth as I see it: Rooms We had a garden view room that had been recently refurbished. Everything was so clean. Beds really comfortable. Rooms cleaned every day and fridge restocked most days. If there is anything that you need message concierge on the app and they send somebody up to sort it we did that when our fridge wasn’t restocked and the came straight away. Safe in room gave piece of mind. Pools There are so many pools at this hotel, honestly something for everyone. We preferred the one in front of the store at the back with a short walk to the beach. Swim up bar was amazing and we were asked many times a day by the loungers what drinks we would like and they delivered them to our beds. Staff really friendly and really couldn’t do enough for us. Wildlife Loved seeing the different types roaming round. Obviously don’t leave food and drinks lying around as they will only do what animals do. There was deer, iguana, cats, coatis, raccoons and monkeys. The other nice touch was a guy flying his hawk about the pools and photo opportunities with the parrots. My son loved all that but we all did. Food As we were there in off season not all restaurants were open at once. This was fine though always managed a booking via the app! Personal faves were the steak house, international, Mexican and Italian. We are not big fans of tapenyaki so we didn’t go to that one but I believe it was amazing. The biggest surprise was the buffets. Honestly I read a few posts saying it was samey. I do not agree there was so much on offer at breakfast lunch and dinner. The choice was vast and all delicious. The Beach So there is a huge sargassum problem but this is an issue across the Yucatan peninsular in general. From what I saw at the princess hotel they were trying to keep on top of it but it is a big job and there is no magic wand. The bar was great and you could sit looking at the ocean. I would suggest if beaches being perfect is a must then maybe try a different part of Mexico such as Cozumel where the issue isn’t there. Personally I enjoyed having the option to go see the ocean even though I didn’t go in the water. Other amenities such as sports bar, coffee shop and ice cream parlour are great if you have kids. The bell boys were amazing and we’re on hand to book taxis when I wanted to go to playa del carman or there was the mini bus that goes from sunset side various times per day and back. Being able to book trips in the downstairs lobby was really handy as-well. There was nighttime entertainment on each night and all sorts of activities going on throughout the day. There were posts about safety - I didn’t see anything remotely untoward on the hotel property throughout the whole stay. Honestly this hotel is an amazing find!! My family and I absolutely loved it and had a ball and made some amazing memories. I can’t recommend it enough.

Lovely Resort Place was massive Friendly Staff We had a swim up room was nice Pools nice and warm Rooms were cleaned every day also mini bar in room was filled every day It was also strange loads of animals running about don’t leave food + Drink lying about Buffet restaurants food was also nice plenty to choose from We also used the Italian restaurant number of times which we will heavily recommend Night time entertainment could be a bit better Coffee shop is nice but doesn’t open untill later U can get coffee in sports bar Definitely recommend this resort We will be back

September returned from 2 weeks at the hotel. *** Fair good and bad comments Good no vaping/smoking policy in place Staff & hotel/rooms facilities great * Buffet food daily very very repetitive Being attacked and have bags stolen daily by wild raccoons and monkey’s not holiday enjoyment? 24 hrs being attacked & eaten by mosquitos and insects really bad *** Main problem the hotel not responding quick enough to stop loud guests running wild and paying loud music all hours of the day and night causing no sleep for two nights Complained 5/6 times and was told I could move to another room??? *** Why should I have to move, I was not the one making all the noise problems The nightmare hotel guests should have been made to move rooms or evict them from the hotel regardless of them being a paying hotel guest * I am a paying guest as well I would not return to this hotel but pay respect to the general bar/cleaning staff etc

We have just spent an exceptional week at this hotel, and we would especially like to thank Carlos Cifuentes, the restaurant manager. Our group of 16 people, made up of three families, had to deal with several serious food allergies: gluten, peanuts, fish, and seafood. From the moment we arrived, Carlos took our situation very seriously. Every evening, he selected the restaurant that was best suited to our needs, and on several occasions, he asked the chefs to prepare special menus specifically adapted to our dietary restrictions. Thanks to his professionalism, attention to detail, kindness, and genuine commitment to ensuring we had a worry-free vacation, we were able to enjoy every meal with complete confidence. We truly felt like royalty. Carlos is an exceptional employee who makes a real difference in the guest experience. His personalized service far exceeded our expectations and deserves to be recognized. A heartfelt thank you as well to the entire restaurant team and the chefs for their collaboration and their constant commitment to our food safety. We highly recommend this hotel without hesitation and hope to have the pleasure of returning.

BEWARE !!! Do not go to this resort !!! 1) the beach is useless , full of seaweed and stinks beyond belief. 2) in seven days at the Pool I got offered a drink one time by a waitress 3) my son, and my cousin‘s boyfriend, both got drugged at the nightclub inside the property by locals from Cancun 4) my room was ransacked by those little animals that look like lemurs, even though I was on the third floor, they can open your patio door 5) the employees came into my room and took $250 cash and $1000 worth of jewelry 6) all the “nice” restaurants that you have to make reservations for are always sold out and booked up only because they only use 25% of the restaurant. The rest is completely empty. This is how they minimize having to make good food on the property and encourage you to eat the crappy food at the buffet.
