Fantastic location but quite a distance from the airport. Approximately 1.5 hour drive on shuttle. Private transfer would be better. The Atmosphere was nice, everyone was friendly and chatty. Wild animals roam the grounds as the hotel is based within the jungle environment. Lots of guests were scaring and shouting at the animals for being inquisitive and looking for food. Remember we are in their territory not ours. If you’re not a fan of animals approaching you then this hotel is not for you. You need to be up before the pool opens to get a sun lounger or all the shades ones are taken. The sea was nice but as this time of year there’s was lots of seagassum. The smell was like rotten eggs, unpleasant at times. The whole two weeks the red flags were out for no swimming however there was a small cove that was available to swim, this was good. The sea was warmer than the pools and you could see two types of fish swimming around you however water was murky due to the seaweed. The rooms were very nice and comfortable, huge space, would be much better if the fan on the ceiling was above the bed. Or the bed where the sofa was as it got far too hot during the night even with the aircon on at the lowest setting. The bathroom was great however being quite short the toilet was quite high and there should be signs around the hotel to tell people to use the bin provided for toilet paper and not to flush. I believe there were a few blockages during the first week due to the smell. I’ts a high possibility the beds have bedbugs as both my husband and I were waking up with bites over our legs. Some of my bites have turned into blisters. Other bites also from possible sand flea, Didn’t see one mosquito the entire duration of our stay? The staff was very friendly however if you encounter an issue the language barrier was a problem. We booked an excursion with Cancun Adventures and they messed up the booking, took a lot of haggling to amend the booking and get money back for the inconvenience. I recommend you book with tui. We wasn’t able to get booked into most restaurants on site as lack of staff so half occupancy meant restaurant was full. We booked for one of the best restaurants and even with email confirmation they still said we didn’t have a reservation. We stayed until the sorted the situation out. Food and drink were brilliant can’t fault it, something for everyone. Upon arrival you will be told (not asked) your going to a meeting to discuss promotions only to be pressured into buying a time share, Down payment is in the thousands with a total of £10k plus depending on what amount you say you spend on holidays per year. Entertainment was good, however be cautious of delays in between shows. Activities were ok. However be cautious of activities starting late, just need to wait, the website doesn’t get updated with any delays. The spa was amazing you must try even if it’s just to use the facilities. The prices of treatments are I think over priced. A lot of the hotel is for the use of Members only, they have priority over you so just be prepared and lookout for the black bands. I sometimes felt they came across better than you because of being a member. All in all the holiday was amazing with just a few blips we will go back possibly to this hotel of maybe try a different one closer to the airport. Don’t let this put you off everyone has their own opinion. I the reasons above I would rate the hotel 4 star not 5 star.

Armin was an excellent host and chef very entertaining very friendly. The food was awesome. The service was excellent. The atmosphere was very memorable exciting can’t wait for the next time.
