Riu Palace Mexico

We arrived here on the 3 Oct to this beautiful hotel. Our room had the wow factor, but we did have to change rooms as there was still a bit of work being carried out and was quite a lot of noise from the roof tops, All the restaurants were fabulous with great selections of food, quality premium drinks, entertainment was excellent All staff were very attentive and helpful at all times, I can’t remember all the names but a few names I can, Abraham from the buffet restaurant was excellent and so friendly, Pastor bar/waiter worked so hard and always had a smile, and Frankie from the sports bar was brilliant made us laugh 😊 We will definitely be back

The hotel overall was excellent. Rooms and restaurants very good and staff very friendly. Some small things could improve it further: There were only two large towels in the room. Four would be better especially to allow ladies to put their hair up after washing. The mini-bar was well stocked but did not have any wine or sparkling wine. Including this would be better. After rain storms the sun beds were left wet leaving guests to dry them even when lots of staff were around. Staff should dry the sun beds each morning and after rain storms. The pool bar occasionally only had one member of staff working which meant service could sometimes be quite slow. It would be better to always have two people especially at busier times. Apart from these small areas to improve the hotel is great. I would recommend and would return in the future.

Stayed at the RIU Palace Mexico (Adults only) 14 nights after our original hotel (Yucatan) had some refurbishing being carried out and we were offered a change free of charge to RIU Dunnamar or RIU Playacar. However we paid a little extra to move to the Palace but it was definitely well worth it, and will be back in the future. Rooms: The rooms were very clean, spacious and you could tell they had just been recently renovated. Staff: The staff are fantastic and whether they work at the pool bar or the bar in the lobby the service was second to none. Special mention to Pastor (Pool bar always had a smile on his face and nothing too much trouble), worked tirelessly like all of the staff, Ermilo (Always made sure the wife had a drink). Animation team were also very good, Pamela, Marlene, Louis and Fernando were great in making everyone feel welcome and getting you participating in some of the activities. Lobby bar staff were also exceptional, and there is also a cocktail trolley at the lobby where they have special cocktails each night based on either Gin, Vodka, Rum to name but a few, the mixed berries Mojito was really good. Entertainment: Nightly shows are good especially liked the rock night, the singers were really good, Abba night was another good night along with Divas night. Michael Jackson show was ok although singing was mimed, good dance moves but felt this was just lacking a bit. Grease show was good as well and was performed by the animation team. Around the pool we also had some entertainment during the day, which was also good, Mayan show, Mariachi show, Circus show, and Foam party. Friday nights is Neon or white party held at Tequila hotel, great night and worth dressing in white or neon to really feel part of the party vibe. Facilities: Great facilities and the option to go to other RIU hotels (Dunnamar, Playacar, Yucatan, Tequila, RIU Palace Riviera Maya) in the area was an added benefit, was great to have a look around the other hotels. Beach: Lovely beach and very little sargassum. Overall: Fantastic stay, food, staff, facilities. Can’t really fault anything and we will definitely be back in the future. Don’t believe the negative comments and go and see for yourself you won’t be disappointed!!!!

Don’t listen to negative reviews! We have travelled alot and could not find fault with this hotel. The food and drink selections were really good. There was something for everyone. We were due to stay at the yukatan but due to building work decided to upgrade, so glad we did. The staff are so friendly, smiling and attentive. Nothing was too much trouble. We didn’t have any bug issues at all. Staff work really hard to keep everywhere clean and tidy. The option to have a wander along the beach and experience the other Riu hotels is great, nice to have a change of scenery.

Hotel just reopened, but rooms still under renovation. The smell is awful and plus very strong smell from treating cockroaches in every room. Dead cockroaches are everywhere. My husband has asthma which is worsening after this. Stuff didn’t have room without smell.
