Royalton CHIC Suites Cancun Resort & Spa

★★★☆☆ We recently stayed at Royalton CHIC Cancun for a birthday vacation, and unfortunately, our experience fell short of what we expected from an adults-only, all-inclusive resort. The disappointment started almost immediately at check-in. Rather than simply welcoming us and getting us settled, there was a strong push to sell us upgrades. That continued throughout our stay. Walking through the lobby or heading toward the beach often seemed to come with another attempt to sell us an excursion, upgrade, or additional service. It gave the experience a timeshare-like feel and made it difficult to simply enjoy the property without feeling like we were constantly being sold something. The food was also very average. Nothing we ate was particularly memorable or stood out in terms of quality, which was disappointing for an all-inclusive resort at this price point. Our room had a strong musty/mildewy smell throughout our entire stay, and overall, the resort felt dated and not as well maintained as we expected based on how it is marketed. The most frustrating part actually happened after we returned home. I had originally booked our trip for one day fewer and later decided to extend our vacation. I canceled the original reservation online and immediately rebooked for the additional night. When we arrived, we provided our reservation information at check-in. The employee initially pulled up the original reservation, realized it wasn't the correct one, located our new reservation, and checked us in for our full stay. Nothing was mentioned about there being an issue with the original reservation. After we returned home, I received an email asking whether we were still planning to stay because the resort showed us as a "no-show" for that original reservation. I explained that we had just completed our stay at the resort and that the original reservation had been canceled online when we rebooked. I was then told that because the cancellation had not been made via email, we would be charged a minimum of two nights for the original reservation. That was extremely disappointing. If there was an issue with the original reservation, it was clearly visible to the staff at check-in and should have been addressed with us then—especially since they actually pulled up that reservation before locating the new one. We were never told that an additional email cancellation was required or that we could potentially be charged for two reservations covering essentially the same trip. There were certainly enjoyable moments during our vacation, which is why I'm giving the resort three stars rather than a lower rating. However, between the constant upselling, mediocre food, musty room, dated condition of the property, and the way the reservation issue was handled after our stay, we would not choose Royalton CHIC Cancun again.

Everything was good. Just need better elevator operations. Took too long to get to get to my floor.

Went for my anniversary my husband and I had a great time. One of the best parts about the trip was our Butler Esteban, he made everything very easy and accommodating for us. The food was good, Italian restaurant was my favorite, entertainment was fun as well. Loved the pool activities. It was more of a hotel versus a resort feel, which is why I gave it four stars versus five , but we still enjoyed ourselves and I recommend the hotel.

My time at Royalton CHIC is always a good time! This trip was no different except I had the best butlers! Iran and Sandra tended to our every need. Not that we were needy, but there were a few things that I needed (always need) and they did not hesitate to get them done. One was getting a topper for my mattress so that it would be softer. When that didn’t work well, Sandra had them rotate my entire mattress! Made all the difference and I slept like a baby. Then I asked for mangoes. Well, they both searched the local stores for me and Iran was successful in finding us mangoes 🥭 and bringing them to us! I cannot wait to return and see them again.

Fantastic stay at Rayalton Chic in a Diamond Club presidential suite. My butlers Sandra and Iran were super attentive taking care of every booking request, sending me the daily itinerary and preparing my suite for entertaining friends, nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is very much a party vibe but you can find quiet spots on the beach. The spa is very sumptuous and delightfully relaxing. La Hacienda for breakfast was a highlight with exceptional food and service.
