Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancún

We’re a couple from the UK who have holidayed extensively in Mexico and this resort is up there. Tui had informed us about the renovations, so we were forearmed, and despite them being right outside our room, it didn’t impact us at all. With the patio windows closed we didn’t hear a thing, besides we were mostly poolside. The beach was beautiful, and seaweed free for the first week, and even when it arrived the second week the staff had all of the equipment to deal with it 🚜 Room: Large, comfortable bed, didn’t like the step down to the patio doors (fell down it first night) the motion sensor light was next to useless. We ended up putting a spare cushion on the floor to remind us to take care there. Shower & toiletries good, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, soap. Double whirlpool bath was fabulous and filled up really quickly. Rooms were cleaned to a high standard but turndown was a bit ‘meh’ so unless we needed more towels we didn’t bother. Minibar guy was great too. Pool set up was amazing. Fabulous thick mattresses and an umbrella shade for every 2 beds, pool concierges always on hand to help. Never a problem finding a space even if you were late down. Daytime entertainment was great, sax player floating round the pool on a raft! Did repeat on week 2 but that often happens. Also enjoyed the entertainment team especially Emmy (so bubbly!) and played bingo, blackjack, did tequila tasting, painted a hat! Not such a fan of the evening entertainment. Theatre was lovely but the talent seemed to be overshadowed by bang average resort dancers. If a rock band is the main act, why are they at the side of the stage and cheesy dancers centre stage? Restaurants 10/10. We knew the Italian and French had been moved to the buffet restaurant during the renovations but it’s so beautiful you wouldn’t know. The French & Italian are a bit more upmarket (sometimes a little too attentive) with Oceana & Grill more relaxed. Thoroughly enjoyed the Asian too. For lunch we predominantly went to the Seaside Grill where Gabriella (front of house) & Armando looked after us perfectly. Always had our favourite table waiting for us and water & chilled wine on its way before we had to ask. Breakfast buffet awesome too. BUT the dress code…. We were told specifically at check in about the dress code (we like a dress code) but first morning my husband was told he couldn’t wear a vest top to breakfast, not a problem, he changed, but that evening 40% of the men in the Asian were in shorts, some in flip flops & baseball caps… did mention this to reception and to our concierge but never got any feedback. If there’s a rule, stick to it. Conclusion (I could waffle on forever!) staff are amazing, anyone who can do anything for you will, with a genuine smile. It was the kind of holiday that was ‘easy’. We didn’t have to ‘work’ at making anything work for us. This is our 3rd Secrets, and our favourite, so far!

We had such an amazing stay at Secrets Maroma Beach for my birthday! From beginning to end, everything felt seamless, relaxing, and so well taken care of. It was exactly the kind of getaway I was hoping for. Our personal concierge, Marcelo Marin, was wonderful throughout our stay. Communication was great, and he made everything so easy for us, from helping us plan our days to sending us the resort’s daily schedule so we always knew what was happening and could make the most of our time. He was attentive, helpful, and made sure we had everything we needed without ever making things feel complicated. A huge thank you as well to Naomi and Hubierto, who took such great care of our room and snacks throughout our stay. Everything was always refreshed, clean, and perfectly taken care of. Those little details really added to the experience and made us feel so spoiled. The resort itself was beautiful, peaceful, and incredibly relaxing. Every detail felt thoughtfully done, and being there for my birthday made the experience even more special. We truly didn’t have to worry about anything, which is exactly what you want on vacation! We left already talking about coming back. Thank you to Marcelo, Naomi, Hubierto, and everyone at Secrets Maroma for making our stay and my birthday such a wonderful experience. The best thing about this resort was Brandon our concierge! I also interacted with Lourdes in group sales and she is the most professional, organized person. Brandon and Lourdes truly love their jobs! Shout out to him! Portofino and Bordeaux were excellent but the wait times were long. The other food is average or slightly below - there is not enough variety. Preferred Club is not worth the money. The construction did not bother us and the staff did their best to keep the sargassum off the beach.

When I made reservation I ask about renovation mentioned in the other reviews, they told me it's already done. but oh la la... as soon as i'm arrived I can see that construction wall blocking the view to the garden and pool, half of the view are gone and the other half can only see green trees and concrete walk. At night there's another construction going on in Unlimited vacation building right across my room, that metal grinding/cutting and raw steel hammer bang really good to keep me awake. Strangely before that one of the sales lady over at unlimited vacation told me there was no renovation on their side, she told me it was next hotel. hmmh..

An all-inclusive experience like no other. Pros: Food is 10/10. The staff is very attentive and there to serve you. The aesthetic is captivating, and the beach is beautiful. During sargassum season they have a tractor that goes up and down the beach cleaning it up. The rooms are upgraded and the bedding is luxury. Con: the bottom of the main pool is rough/rock, so you may want to wear swim shoes. There isn’t nightlife. There is a bar that has a DJ but it’s not a party vibe.
