The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences

I was disappointed in this hotel however, there were some very good things. Positives: All of the staff without exception were very friendly and helpful. Special thanks to our ambassador (concierge) Jonathan and his coworker Habib. Also, Ellen at the front desk was great especially when we had to change rooms. The resort is in a very scenic location with lots of wildlife (monkeys, coatis and other animals). There is a shuttle service to take guests to various areas within the large property which was good for older people and families with young kids. The Brasserie, Lizzards, the Italian restaurant and the hamburger grill by the main pool were all very good. There is an ice cream shop which was very popular with everyone. Areas for Improvement: There is a surcharge for services which are generally provided at an all inclusive resort. Examples: $5US for each dinner reservation, $10US for room service and a coffee shop which charged for their products. These services have been included at every all inclusive resort I have ever been to. The quality of the restaurant food varied depending on where you ate. The buffet, the Thai restaurant and the room service food were not very good. The entertainment was overall poor. Most nights, there were singers from 7 - 8 PM followed by games that people played on their phones which is pretty boring. The exceptions were the Mexican dancers and the fire show (excellent). I didn't see any activities by the pool for kids or adults. Rooms: The room that we booked was described as Deluxe and was not even close. It was very cramped and had very little room for the belongings of 2 women. One of the beds was angled away from the wall so that the sliding door could be opened. We requested another room and were moved to one that was a standard size. Ellen and Habib were very helpful with the room change. The beds were comfortable, we were given plenty of towels and the mini fridge was replenished daily. The bathroom lacked any privacy as the toilet was inside a frosted glass door (like a shower door). There was a double vanity however it had vessel sinks which take up a lot of space. The bathroom lighting over the vanity was quite dim. The room decor was drab without any of the vibrant colours of Mexico. It could have been a room in any country. For people that only speak English, there were only about 4 TV channels which was not a big deal for me but in other hotels, there is a much bigger selection.

The resort is excellent - the service the friendliest of any resort we have stayed at in the Mayan. If you are visiting the resort be sure to book a reservation at Casa del Rosa and spend an authentic Mexican dinner with Fatie and Wendy. You will love it.

This is our second time staying at this hotel, and once again, we absolutely love it! The service is excellent, and there is a great variety of restaurants, even for lunch. This is a big plus for our family, as we are not big fans of buffet dining. We especially love the beautiful green areas, and the infrastructure is simply outstanding. One of the highlights of our stay was getting the chance to see a monkey right on our balcony! We truly enjoyed our experience and will definitely be coming back!

We had an amazing time. Everything was so well organized. We went for a beautiful wedding for a friend. The wedding was so well organized and well put together. We really enjoyed all the restaurants. The food was amazing. We also enjoyed the animals and how we got to see all thedifferent animals the people that work there were so helpful. We had such a great experience. We are looking forward to going back soon.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about the exceptional care and service we received at The Fives Resort in Mexico! Traveling with my granddaughters, who have PKU (Phenylketonuria), can be extremely stressful because they have very strict dietary restrictions. Their meals require special attention, and not everyone understands how important it is to get every detail right. From the moment we explained their dietary needs, Luigi Margalli went above and beyond to make sure my granddaughters were taken care of. What stood out most was the genuine compassion, patience, and willingness to accommodate their unique needs. Rather than making us feel like we were asking for too much, we were treated with kindness, understanding, and respect. As a grandmother, there is no greater peace of mind than knowing your grandchildren are being cared for, especially when their health depends on something as important as their food. This wasn't just excellent customer service. This was someone who truly cared and made a difference in our family's vacation. I hope the management at The Fives recognizes what an incredible employee they have. People like this are what turn a beautiful resort into an unforgettable experience. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping make our family vacation special and for making my granddaughters feel included and cared for. We will never forget your kindness!
