Heritage Grand Perast by Rixos

Firstly I have to say that the majority of staff we had interactions with were brilliant, and an asset to the hotel - particularly two lovely South American female members from Venezuela and Mexico....! The hotel offers most of things you would want for a hotel that posts as a five star hotel... spa/restaurants/pools/bars etc.... There are few gripes that I feel need raising: The room we were allocated was not designed very well at all - a mezzanine room with a very small seating area at the bottom of the stairs to the first level where the bedroom is along with a sofa and two chairs. However, the room lacked any character or soul with no pictures/ornaments just bare white walls. There was one small single velux window which was at a steep angle and difficult to open or look out of... not ideal at all which makes the room very dark. Also then stairs separating the two levels are extremely dangerous as the treads are extremely narrow with varnish so also quite slippery. You need to go down sideways for safety to avoid falling down the stairs... I could go on but enough! Oh forgot the mention that the front door to the room a fully glazed opaque panel which if you are inside people outside can get an outline of you.... very odd and never seen that before in a hotel! We raised a number of issues on our departure with a female member of the reception team which in all honesty was not taken on board, and was met with a response that the 'Americans like it' which was a very strange response. The choice at breakfast was excellent with a menu for different freshly cooked items such as eggs as well as a great buffet selection... The meals at lunchtime/dinner were off the same menu, and did not change which was disappointing as I would expect a hotel of this standard to have a differential between the two meal settings. We ate a couple of times in the evening and lunchtime, and although what we had was 'good/average' it lacked any wow factor to push it to another level.... accompaniments to main dishes such a vegetables need reviewing by the catering team as 'minimal' is being kind. I ordered the veal one evening and got a chunk of meat with a load of mashed potato with one sprig of asparagus and a quarter of one carrot cut along its length... pathetic! When I fed back to the kitchen on the dish there was no feedback coming back to me. Meals were expensive so I would expect better. The gym was pokey and needs a treadmill - there is one elyptical machine and two spin bikes for cardio. A multi gym as well as dumbbells... needs a bit more equipment in my view. The spa was good, and staff there were excellent. Steam room/indoor pool/sauna were excellent and well looked after in regards to cleanliness etc.... Housekeeping lacked any direction in my view - We had one turn down service during the four nights stay, and never saw a stocked mini bar which were advertised for room level. The room was cleaned required standard for a five star hotel - carpets were never cleaned during our stay - pillow case never changed even though there was a big tea stain on it - only one robe even though a second requested which never appeared - lack of attention to detail by cleaning staff - all in all not great! A question for the hotel - do you have any housekeeping supervisors who check on standards? All in all its is an expensive hotel in lovely location which in my humble view does not warrant the high charge for what is provided. Perhaps our expectations were too great but I understand it is no longer a RIXOS group hotel.... happy to be corrected on that one. We felt four nights was a little too long in Perast.... three would in my view be a maximum stay.

Spent a week in September at this hotel and really enjoyed it. Pros - the hotel itself is gorgeous - after doing day trips to Kotor and budva we were SO glad we chose to stay in perast. It’s busy through the day with day trippers, but definitely the nicer area to stay. - our room was nice and had everything we needed, including plenty of wardrobe space. We were on the bottom floor facing the front so had a slight sea view which was nice. - room was always cleaned and we were always left plenty of water. - breakfast was lovely Cons - our room window backed onto the courtyard and there was a table right outside, so an evening if people sat there it was very noisy. We did phone reception one night and they came and moved the people to a different table. - weddings!!! The hotel hosted a wedding one day, which of course was very noisy and shut off part of the hotel for part of the day. It would’ve just been nice to be warned that this was happening as we came back to the room and couldn’t get in! Had to go round the back up a messy storage side alley. - we just felt the service really let this place down! We didn’t find anyone rude, but just uninterested and unhappy which isn’t what you expect in a 5 star hotel. Always had to get someone’s attention if you wanted to order a drink at the bar or pool, or if you wanted to order a coffee or eggs at breakfast. We must say Daniela was the exception when it came to staff, she was always super friendly and happy to help All in all we did enjoy our stay, just would say it probably isn’t a 5 star standard (purely due to service)

A beautiful hotel in a breathtaking location, away from the bustle of Kotor. The hotel is an old palace and entry is through a beautiful courtyard. The communal areas are fairly sparsely furnished with a red carpet running throughout. I felt some flowers around might have been a nice touch. The room was a good size, although we were facing the side, with only a minimal bay glimpse. There were a couple of evening where the water wasn't hot in the shower, but the hotel was full on those nights. We found the room cleaning to be good, no complaints about that. The breakfast buffet was generous and we enjoyed the food. The service was always excellent and attentive. The pool area was busy, but we didn't have to lay out towels to claim a bed, there was always space as people came and went throughout the day. The location is stunning and the option of swimming in the pool or the bay was there. We only dined in the restaurant one evening and the food was good, although the portion sizes were on the small size. All in all it was a beautiful place to stay and we thoroughly enjoyed it.
