To start off Tivat airport is terrible far too small and staff not friendly. We visited the Hotel Palas probably 40 years ago after it was rebuilt. It was a lovely holiday but this time it was terrible. We visited with Saga and our complaints are already with them. The Rep, Dragan, was very good. If travelling with Saga you need cash to pay for your excursions. The hotel is right next to the Promenade and the beach. The Promenade is lovely, lots of shops, many only accept cash and restaurants. Our room gave us a lovely view that’s where the praise ends. The bathroom needed attention, the electrical socket was hanging off the wall, the door was warped from the shower flooding and there was damp on the ceiling. The staff, apart from our maid were rude and unfriendly. There were many local tourists who were treated very differently to us we were the 2nd class tourists. Our room was clean as was the bedding etc but the general cleanliness of the hotel was poor. Areas needed particular attention and cleaning. The toilets by the main restaurant, after a wedding held over the weekend were disgusting. The pool area was occasionally cleaned but most of the time there was rubbish overflowing from bins, old inflatables left, odd sandals and even t shirts left around. There were no pool lifeguards with many children present the first week. No outdoor pool showers only 2 toilets by the spa areas. Not enough sunbeds and locals were allowed to leave towels out overnight and then often not using the beds. Broken deckchairs, sunbeds and parasols dumped at the walkway by the indoor pool or by the pool. The food was awful. Many guests were eating out. It was repetitive and stodgy, especially at night. The lunch menu was slightly better. The food at the best was lukewarm mostly cold. Either very dry or swimming in grease. We sat out on the terrace in the evening but we are sure they didn’t change the tablecloths for the 2 weeks and don’t walk away from your food or the cats will have it. We dreaded meal times. As mentioned the staff attitude was very poor even on reception, with one staff member claiming suddenly that he couldn’t understand a word I was saying. I wrote to the Duty Manager and received a reply the next day but the attitude only improved slightly. There was a wedding which finished around 11pm, which was fine but some guests reported from previous stays parties had gone on until 1am. There are no activities during the day and the all inclusive drinks included hot drinks and concentrated fruit juice at breakfast but the rest of the day it was just water and wine. Also noted by my husband and myself separately that 2 members of staff left the toilets without washing their hands. It was an awful holiday and we were so disappointed. There was much more and I have informed Saga of such. We would not recommend this hotel to anyone especially as travelling with Saga was not the cheapest. I would say avoid at all costs and do not think the hotel will look like the official photos.

Well where do I start. We went with SAGA paid more than anyone else. Hotel run down, food OK at breakfast and lunch but evenings awful. The worst part is the patio doors in the room. I have never seen anything like them before. You need to be a strong man to close them. You have to manly lift them into place. You feel as if they ate actually going to fall on you. Will definitely never ever visit this hotel again. Montenegro has to make a lot of improvements it is like a building site everywhere.

The location of the hotel is perfect, and the food was okay. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. The hotel is very dirty, poorly maintained, and clearly in need of major renovation. The cleaning service was one of the worst I have experienced. To give one example: there was a dirty baby diaper lying next to the indoor swimming pool for FIVE DAYS, and nobody cleaned it up. This really makes you question whether the area was being cleaned at all during our stay. Our room also had several issues. The shower holder was broken, the rubber seals around the entrance door were torn, and sand in the bathroom was not cleaned for the entire week. There were also no proper/basic toilet amenities that you would expect from a 4-star hotel. The service was disappointing as well. Staff were sometimes rude or had poor manners, and we received different information depending on which member of staff we asked. You also have to pay extra for a baby crib, which I found particularly disappointing for a hotel presenting itself as 4-star. Every single day, we heard guests at reception complaining about cleanliness or service. Unfortunately, this seemed to be a common problem rather than an isolated incident. If you are travelling with a baby and a stroller, be prepared for stairs everywhere, which makes getting around quite difficult. This hotel has huge potential because of its fantastic location, but the current standard simply does not match a 4-star hotel. In my opinion, it is 2 stars at most based on the condition, cleanliness and service we experienced. Overall, this was one of the most disappointing hotel stays I have ever had, and unfortunately I would not recommend this hotel until the cleanliness, maintenance and service are seriously improved.
