Hampton by Hilton Gdansk Old Town

This hotel has a very convenient location in the centre of Gdańsk on Ul. Piwna (Beer Street), a short walk to the main square (Długi Targ) and the river front. Our room was clean and quiet, with two large comfortable beds but rather soft pillows. The shower worked well and a security safe is provided, but no fridge. The bar is open in the afternoons and evenings, and has a modest selection of beers, wines and spirits at a reasonable price. The hotel is neat and smart, with a decor similar to other Hampton by Hilton hotels in the world. The only ‘local’ aspect to this one is the breakfast featuring Polish food. Unfortunately, this was rather disappointing. Most of the ‘hot’ items were cold, soggy and unappealing, whilst the coffee was undrinkable.

The location is by far the biggest draw for this hotel although there are lots of hotels in the same area slap bang in the middle of the old town, the hotel and rooms are spotless and you cannot argue with this, however I have a problem with the following, I found the staff very stern and unwelcoming all very young and don't have the skills to deal with what looked like a more maturer type of resident, the breakfast was very poor, catering for mainly the Polish population who stay there, the quality and choice was poor, no facility to toast bread!! A first for me as an extensive traveller, cheap orange juice that separates when left, cramped conditions in the breakfast buffet area, and who eats salad and rhubarb crumble for breakfast...RIDICULOUS. only 3 channels for English residents of which 2 were news and one dubbed into Polish. I didn't like the fact that you have to put away your own dishes despite the numerous members of staff standing about doing very little and with the price I paid I would expect waitress service not budget service knives and forks Limited supply at busy time between 8 and 9. I wouldn't stay here again.

This hotel is in a great location rooms are big and well kitted out staff were very helpful our only negative was the breakfast it wasn't close to what we expected ! Orange juice terrible split if sat for a short time no toaster, no bacon only positive with breakfast were the waffles this unfortunately would put us off staying again

Good hotel but a few downsides Nice hotel perfectly located, good breakfast. Although I was surprised (being a 4 start) the hotel didn't have mini fridges in the room. Which I think it is a big downside. Also the windows wouldn't open even a centimeter (I know for safety measures they can fully open but at least a bit to get some fresh air). Thanks.

We truly enjoyed our stay at the Hampton by Hilton in Old Town! The location was very convenient, especially using the back door entrance. It is within walking distance of all major attractions, the riverfront and many restaurants. Originally we were deciding between the other Hampton location by the river, but I think the Old Town is the better location. We loved, loved our room 414 – Queen with Balcony – whose balcony overlooked St. Mary’s Church…especially lovely after dark. The room had full size windows to enjoy the view but with room-darkening blinds to lower at night. Our room was very clean and comfortable, extremely quiet, with a good shower. The breakfast buffet was plentiful. We especially enjoyed the friendly and responsive staff. We encountered a problem with the safe in our room and Housekeeping arrived within a couple minutes, followed by the Maintenance Technician only a few moments later. Service was top notch.
