Hanza Hotel

Absolutely brilliant stay in this very nice and comfy hotel. Great location on river near the Crane. Directly across form the Soldek and Maritime Museum. Perfect for sightseeing - 5 minutes to Mariacka and also good for people with mobility issues as it's mainly all flat. Lovely large room with river view and big windows. Very comfy, clean and quiet. tea and coffee maker and bottles of water replenished every day. Aircon in room even though we didn't need it Very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff - couldn't do enough for us. Very many excellent choices for breakfast including Freixenet and 0% Freixenet !! A first for me in a hotel for breakfast! Great to make your own Bucks Fizz to start the holiday days off! 2 restaurant areas - one with view of river and a outside eating/drinking area - all very well maintained and spotlessly clean. Waiting staff were amazing throughout. Wifi is a bit iffy but the hotel provide individual signal boosters for guests - so just ask at reception!! It seemed wifi wasn't brilliant in a lot of places in Gdansk? On arrival we were each given vouchers for the spa and a free dessert. Free map and guidebook also Added bonus is that because of it's position taxis can take you straight to the door which hasn't been the case in other hotels in the Old Town I ''ve stayed in I would highly recommend this hotel and I would stay here again

We had a lovely stay and the hotel is a perfect base for exploring Gdańsk. Friendly atmosphere and a very enjoyable experience. Special thanks to Marzena and Paulina from the housekeeping team — their kindness and great work truly deserve recognition. We would be happy to come back

We were greeted warmly on arrival. Our room was spacious with a river view which we much appreciated.very comfortable beds and pillows and good storage. Our only criticism was the shower which could do with an upgrade in the future. The buffet breakfast was varied and plentiful and it was a nice touch having Freixenet available to have a holiday Buck’s Fizz. The hotel restaurant is excellent with wonderful food and a wonderful sommelier Luckasz(?) All staff are very pleasant and a shout out must go to housekeeping who do a lovely job. Finally the location of the Hanza is excellent within walking distance of major attractions and a short stroll to the boat trips. We had an excellent stay.

We had booked a trip to Gdansk, staying for two nights in Hanza Hotel, but I had to cancel at five days' notice after my wife had a stroke. My travel companion and I therefore had to cancel our arrangements at short notice. Of the three hotels we booked for our visit, one gave a full refund, one half a refund, but Hanza Hotel would not refund any of our upfront cost via Booking.com. We explained the circumstances to the hotel, but they were having none of it. They showed no compassion, taking a full commercial approach, not recognising that we would rebook with them at a later date. I find this type of behaviour unacceptable, and would recommend that any traveller avoid this hotel. They are not pleasant to deal with.

Arrived at the hotel and able to check in early which was a bonus. However the man on reception was a bit sour. When we went in to the room it hadn’t been cleaned. The beds weren’t made and there were takeaway boxes and rubbish everywhere. Went back down to reception and within 10 minutes we were given a river view room with two double beds and a bottle of fizz. A lovely gesture. Room decor a bit dated. Unbearably hot in the room despite trying to fix this with the thermostat. Difficult with the window open due to the noise outside. The water in the bathroom sink smelled of rotten eggs. Very good powerful shower with plenty of hot water. Complimentary toiletries smelled really nice. Allowed us to leave luggage with them for the day on checkout. Very pleased we purchased a room rate including breakfast. We enjoyed smoked salmon every day with a brilliant selection of cooked options, fruit, cereal, pastries and bread. All while overlooking the river. Would give this 4.5 if this was an option. Great budget hotel in an ideal location to enjoy the sights of Gdansk.
