Hanza Hotel

We had booked a trip to Gdansk, staying for two nights in Hanza Hotel, but I had to cancel at five days' notice after my wife had a stroke. My travel companion and I therefore had to cancel our arrangements at short notice. Of the three hotels we booked for our visit, one gave a full refund, one half a refund, but Hanza Hotel would not refund any of our upfront cost via Booking.com. We explained the circumstances to the hotel, but they were having none of it. They showed no compassion, taking a full commercial approach, not recognising that we would rebook with them at a later date. I find this type of behaviour unacceptable, and would recommend that any traveller avoid this hotel. They are not pleasant to deal with.

Arrived at the hotel and able to check in early which was a bonus. However the man on reception was a bit sour. When we went in to the room it hadn’t been cleaned. The beds weren’t made and there were takeaway boxes and rubbish everywhere. Went back down to reception and within 10 minutes we were given a river view room with two double beds and a bottle of fizz. A lovely gesture. Room decor a bit dated. Unbearably hot in the room despite trying to fix this with the thermostat. Difficult with the window open due to the noise outside. The water in the bathroom sink smelled of rotten eggs. Very good powerful shower with plenty of hot water. Complimentary toiletries smelled really nice. Allowed us to leave luggage with them for the day on checkout. Very pleased we purchased a room rate including breakfast. We enjoyed smoked salmon every day with a brilliant selection of cooked options, fruit, cereal, pastries and bread. All while overlooking the river. Would give this 4.5 if this was an option. Great budget hotel in an ideal location to enjoy the sights of Gdansk.

My husband and I visited Old Town Gdansk for a little city break and stayed at the Hanza Hotel. The hotel is in a wonderful location and we were lucky enough to have a room overlooking the river. Our room was really lovely and spacious and had a really comfy bed. We had a nice roomy en suite bathroom. The reception staff were very friendly and welcoming. There's a choice of buffet breakfast or a la carte. The buffet breakfast has a fantastic selection of fruits, yoghurt meat cheeses and lovely fresh bread. The restaurant has incredible seafood. We very much recommend dining there. You won't be disappointed. The whole vibe in Gdansk is very peaceful. We would definitely recommend staying at The Hanza Hotel.

Right on the river front with all the crowds passing by but was the quietest hotel I’ve stayed in for a long time, lovely helpful staff…we didn’t have breakfast but we didn’t need to as it was so close to the main tourist area..lovely place

Lovely hotel on the river in the old town. Comfy bed, good pillows, nice bathroom. Shower in the bath but the pressure was excellent, no problem. Very clean, room cleaned every day. Reception helpful, didn't eat here but prices looked reasonable on reflection.
