Our experience was far below expectations. On our first day, a member of staff asked us to leave a 5-star review. I did, but after our stay I had to edit it. I have previously stayed at Viva Palace and Sunscape and, out of the three, Catalonia has been by far my worst experience in Bayahibe. We found the staff unfriendly, constantly expecting tips, and we felt a clear difference in how we were treated as Portuguese guests compared with guests of other nationalities. More seriously, I was sexually harassed in a very insulting manner by a member of staff in the canoe rental area on the beach. Completely unacceptable. The division between regular and VIP guests is excessive. Even inside restaurants, certain tables and dishes are VIP-only, and the difference in staff treatment is obvious. Even the jacuzzi in the central pool area is VIP-only. At other Bayahibe resorts, facilities like this are available to everyone; some even include a water park for all guests. The three themed restaurants have very limited choices and we found the food genuinely poor. Surprisingly, the buffet was considerably better. Entertainment is also very poor: practically no activities at the pool or beach, no music on the beach and almost nothing to do at night. The “White Party” was basically a staff member playing music from a computer. There are also no animals around the resort, something that gave other resorts we visited much more atmosphere. The room is okay, but nothing special, and immediately after arriving they tried to sell us an upgrade for around €40 per person per night. Throughout the stay, we constantly felt that we had to pay extra for things that other resorts normally include. Most disappointing of all, I convinced another couple to come with us so they could experience the great service and hospitality we had previously experienced in the Dominican Republic. Unfortunately, this experience was the complete opposite. Positives: the pool and the buffet. But they do not make up for everything else. I would not return.

I had an absolutely amazing stay at this hotel! The rooms were beautiful and so comfortable, and the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Everyone made me feel right at home. The drinks were so good, and the views and scenery were absolutely breathtaking. Waking up to such beautiful surroundings made the whole experience even more special. I truly enjoyed every moment of my stay and would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing and unforgettable vacation in the Dominican Republic. I can’t wait to come back! 🌴🍹

Spending a week at Catalonia Bayahibe. Choosed Catalonia because I have stayed on next door hotel last year and felt that the beach is much more pleasant in here. Food, accomodation, staff and ammenities all nice. I had a problem with the room that I was assigned, because it was placed on the corner of the resort and subject to too many noise from a source out from the hotel - It was not possible to sleep. Staff promptly swift the room with another one understanding the rough conditions. When you spend your year working and you decide to spend some reasonable money to achieve the opportunity to enjoy some rest, this is the last thing you want to happen. Thanks to Catalonia Bayahibe that was sorted out quickly and effective. I praise the management and the front desk team for customer care.
