Catalonia Royal La Romana

We had such a lovely stay at Catalonia Royal in the Dominican Republic and honestly had the best time. The whole resort felt comfortable, welcoming and very well maintained, we would not hesitate to return. ♥️ Our room was spacious and incredibly comfortable, with a lovely bed and a beautiful balcony overlooking the pool. It was cleaned regularly throughout our stay, with plenty of fresh towels provided. The fridge was always well stocked with Presidente beers and Coca-Cola, a coffee maker in the room was a lovely added touch. The grounds were beautiful, clean and very well maintained. Everything was within a short walk, including the different pools, restaurants and bars. We particularly enjoyed the pool with the swim-up bar. The bar staff were lovely, especially Fior, who always greeted us with the biggest smile and kept us entertained throughout our stay. She was such a lovely person and really made us feel welcome. A special mention also has to go to Enrique, who worked at the lunch restaurant. He was incredibly professional, attentive and friendly, nothing ever seemed like too much trouble for him. His service really stood out to us. The beach is absolutely beautiful 🩵💙turquoise water, soft sand and the most incredible views. It really felt like paradise! The morning buffet was definitely one of our highlights. There was such a huge choice of food to suit everyone, we particularly loved the omelettes and fresh fruit. Everything was fresh and there was plenty of choice. The evening restaurants were probably the only area we felt could be improved. They needed to be booked in advance, although the restaurants themselves were clean, nicely presented and the staff were always professional, we weren’t particularly impressed with the food at most of them. Our favourites were Mama Mia Italian, where we had pizza, Tao Cat which we thought was decent and nice for a change with flavour! One thing I would recommend to any British visitors is to learn a little Spanish before coming. I knew some basic Spanish before our trip and definitely felt that it improved throughout our stay. Some members of staff spoke English and communication was absolutely possible, but I think making the effort to learn some basic Spanish is important and really helps when visiting a Spanish-speaking country. Overall, we had an amazing holiday and felt so comfortable throughout our stay. The beautiful beach, lovely grounds, comfortable room and wonderful staff made it a really special trip. Had a fantastic holiday with my family at the Catalonia royal la romana in dominican Republic. The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable and modern. The resort itself was well kept. The only downside was the buffet restaurant which, although was a nice place to eat, often served cold food which should be hot or warm. They could have benefited in having a couple of microwaves which I have seen other hotels do. The beach and sea water was literally paradise on earth. Not a sign or whiff of seaweed on this side of the island. What was also nice was the staff. Whether it be a gardiner or bar man they always would say or respond to an "hola" or "buenos dias'. In particular Jose Luis who met us at reception on our arrival and showed us to our rooms. What a guy! He made our stay so enjoyable with his big smile and willingness to help or assist in any need we may have had. Its the people like Jose who really make the difference in this kind of hospitality. We holidayed in july/August and noticed that there was not many British guests around. There seemed to be mainly Argentinian guests. We would visit Dominican Republic and Catalonia hotels again but probably go to a different hotel with a more diverse guest demographic.
