HM Alma de Bayahibe

Food was shocking. Recycled from the resterants. Staff rude or not engaged if you are not Spanish or Canadian. The bar staff were inattentive and rude. Other than the guy at the late bar who was always lovely. The entertainment was poor. The same thing night after night from the entertainment team. Our room was not cleaned and when asked for this to be done. The maid was rude and looked very put out. The staff as a whole could do with a course in people management. Could look at you like you were a nuisance just by asking for a drink by the pool or lobby. Rattled the trollys back and forth past out room at 1am nightly. Discussed with reception and nothing changed.

Do not go if you are English. The staff are rude, miserable and only interested in the Spanish. The drinks and food are appalling. We stayed for 11 nights, not one member of the animation team spoke to us in all that time, everything is announced in Spanish only. Do not expect to be offered a drink with dinner as you will be disappointed. Only pro was the hot weather, the staff are awful.

We as a senior couple from Canada love this resort. The staff , the food, the room and the grounds . We stayed for week in January/ February and enjoyed it so much that we are returning in December. We rarely visit the same resort twice but HM Alma deserves a second stay. there are so many more things and places to explore. I really can't understand some of the negative reviews

We enjoyed our trip here! we decided to take a last minute trip! For context we travel a lot this is about our 40th trip. we came in with lower food expectations and were pleasantly surprised by the food choices. there is a beach close by and they shuttle you for free so if you want beach front this isn't the place. the swimming off the resort is beautiful and a lot of people took advantage of swimming and snorkelling. The staff overall were very nice and helpful. The alcohol is your standard presidente which is understandable but the alcohol is not the greatest . it's all brands that you have probably never heard of unless you're willing to pay $7 usd for a shot of it added to drink. the pools are in need of repair. so not the best. the rooms are clean and comfortable , we had hot water all the time and the Ac worked. one caution. if you're looking for peace and quiet in evening ask for building 1-2- we stayed in 4 and the live entertainment was quite loud at night till 11 pm. the one issue this place could fix is the doors. all they need to do is put some padding between the door and the frame so they don't slam

Not a single nice bar, the reception one is very small and not nice and the pool one is small and unattractive. The staff are rude if you compare to the standards in Europe. When I asked/complained about a couple of things these asks were left unanswered, they don’t care. The food is generally not nice with some exceptions i.e., sometimes fish is nice but the meats are very bad. The pools are rundown and the rooms, though spacious, are a bit dirty. Furniture in the rooms and bars is dirty and bad quality. Read the negative reviews here as they are matching the reality more than the positive ones.
