Our experience at lopassan was fantastic. The place is really nice. The facilities are great. The beach was nice. The service is excellent. The food is very good.. we were a large group with adults. Younger teenagers and older teenagers and still. Everyone could find things to do. Apart or in some cases together. The large active mall area right next door helps with that. Of the six rooms we reserved, we got a room that was in the unique club. Because one of the children on our trip had special medical needs. This introduced us to our butler Oliver. We really didn't understand the butler service when we booked the unique club. We only booked it to ensure that the room had specific facilities that at the time were only available as a unique room such as 1st floor. But when we go back, we will absolutely book unique in order to get a Butler because Oliver was amazing, and he made our trip go from good to unbelievable. Oliver was super helpful in every way. With scheduling and reservations and everything you normally imagine plus he went the extra mile with things like helping us get access to medicine from offsite pharmacies, when one of the kids in our party got sick. I can not say enough about how great Oliver was. If you go to lopeson, seriously, consider unique. And if you get unique, absolutely try and get Oliver he is simply the best. A couple of other small things. If you have early teens under 16 that are gym rats like we do. They can't work out there. The gym there is amazing, but they will not let anyone under 18 in. Kids sixteen to eighteen require a waiver. They scan everybody, we had an almost six foot tall, 13 year old with us who still couldn't get by. The other age limitation is the steakhouse. If you've got kids that are very into steak, they cannot go to the steakhouse. There is one night a week. Where kids that are unique, guests can go to the steakhouse, but other than that, it's eighteen plus and I think this one other restaurant like that, but I can't remember. But overall great experience in locus on great place. And oliver just the best.

This is our second time in this resort and we loved it. The resort was very clean and comfortable. The majordomo or butler they assigned to us, Jimmy, was very helpful. He spent time with us explaining about the resort and even made the dinner reservations for us. He also decorated my stepdaughter's room for her birthday after we told him the reason for our visit.

I really wanted to love this resort, but unfortunately, there were far more cons than pros during my stay. The pros: The resort itself is beautiful and has a really nice aesthetic. There are also plenty of beach and pool chairs, so you don’t have to wake up at the crack of dawn to reserve yourself a chair, which is a huge plus at an all-inclusive. The gym was AMAZING — 10/10! Honestly, probably the best resort gym I’ve ever seen. It was spacious, clean, and had an incredible selection of equipment. Definitely a standout feature of the resort. Now for the cons — and unfortunately, there are quite a few. The food was absolutely awful. For an all-inclusive resort, I was extremely disappointed with the quality and overall options. This was easily some of the worst resort food I’ve experienced. The hospitality itself was really bad. The staff often seemed annoyed to be there and, honestly, miserable. I’ve stayed at quite a few all-inclusive resorts and have never experienced this level of poor hospitality. The overall attitude made the experience feel very unwelcoming. The room itself was another major issue. Everything stayed wet from the extreme humidity — our belongings, the bedding, basically everything. There was even visible mold on the lampshades, which I’m assuming was from the constant moisture in the room. On top of that, the room and our belongings constantly had a musty, unpleasant smell. One other thing to be aware of before booking: English is not widely spoken by the staff. I completely understand being in the Dominican Republic and that Spanish is the primary language, and I’m not expecting everyone to speak English fluently. However, communication was difficult at times and is something I think future guests should be prepared for. Overall, the resort is visually beautiful and has some great amenities — especially the gym — but for me, the poor food, lack of hospitality, room conditions, and communication difficulties outweighed the positives. Unfortunately, I would not return.
