Lopesan Costa Bavaro Resort Spa & Casino

This resort is beautiful. The service was excellent. Our Butler Jimmy was amazing. He made sure we had everything we needed. From the wait staff to housekeeping, they made our vacation a time to remember. Will definitely be back!

Disappointing Experience – Poor Service and Management Cleanliness Our experience at this hotel was disappointing. The public restrooms were dirty and had an unpleasant odor. The facilities did not appear to be cleaned regularly, and the staff seemed insufficiently attentive to cleanliness. Dining The restaurant was also disappointing. The same dishes were served repeatedly from breakfast through dinner each day, with limited variety. The food quality and taste did not meet our expectations. Service Basic requests, such as towels, were often not fulfilled. Although we requested these necessities, they were never delivered. The staff did not appear responsive to guests’ needs. Security and Privacy A person wearing work clothes came to our room and stated that they were there to repair the bathroom, even though we had not requested any repair or maintenance. We had not received prior notice, and we did not know who the person was or why they had come to our room. This raised serious concerns about privacy and security. Management When we reported these issues to the front desk, the staff did not appear to take our concerns seriously. They made little effort to listen, apologize, or provide a resolution. Overall, the cleanliness, food quality, service, staff responsiveness, and management were below an acceptable standard. Our primary concern was the hotel’s handling of guest privacy and security. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this hotel.

We love love Lopesan. Daniel Yan is our favorite bartender. He can be found at the goldfish bar. He makes the best drink baby Yan.

My family of 7 stayed at Lopesan the first week of August 2026. We had 3 rooms and our ages ranged from 20 to 73 years. We chose this resort to best meet the needs of the large group. Here are the pros & cons: Pros: the resort is absolutely beautiful, it is kept clean despite the large size of the property and the workers were a lot more pleasant than what I read in the previous reviews. Cons: the food safety at the buffets was questionable and unsafe. My father , who worked in the food safety industry, actually spoke to a supervisor about the temperature of the hot plates that the food was on. 90% of the food was cold. 6 out of 7 of us got sick with diarrhea after eating from the buffet. The frozen drinks were also a disappointment because they had a chemical-like taste to them. As for the entertainment, the audio & lighting was excessive at the theater. There wasn't even a warning for anyone who may have light or sound sensitivity. I do hope that Lopesan addresses these serious food safety concerns sooner than later. Needless to say, we will not be returning to this resort. You just can't overlook food safety no matter how beautiful a resort looks!
