Lopesan Costa Bavaro Resort Spa & Casino

My husband and I have just returned from a one week vacation at the Lopesan. Overall, it was a lovely, relaxing holiday and while we were happy with the resort, there are a couple of points worth mentioning for those still researching. Pros: The resort is truly gorgeous. There are beautiful fountains and lush gardens everywhere. It is particularly breathtaking in the evenings with the uplighting. We actually found everything quite walkable and not as ridiculously far apart as some have complained about in their reviews. It was good to get a few steps in after the food and drinks. Book Unique. It's well worth the money. The breakfast and lunch buffet were smaller than the buffets for the rest of the resort (which I liked) and the food was good and there was always a large variety of options (there was never a dinner despite being told there would be one served here at least once during the week). Our room was also nice. We did take a few humidity bags as recommended by other travellers and I'm glad we did. They filled by the end of the week but we weren't uncomfortable in the room at all. We loved our Unique section of the beach, and the quiet Unique pool at the back of the complex. We would divide our time between the two places. I agree with other comments that the alcohol may have been watered down somewhat, but the pina coladas were delicious regardless! I loved the aesthetic of this resort - particularly most of the light fixtures! Cons: The service in the Unique buffet was at times inconsistent. Drink orders were often forgotten, sometimes by numerous servers. The language barrier was often a problem as well, as many servers did not speak English well. While the alcoholic drinks were good overall, the wines were not. We ordered wine off the menu in a couple of restaurants and they were quite expensive (150 American). It would be nice if there were a few better options for the all inclusive house wines. The service in the restaurants was too fast, which sounds silly, but quite often food would be served so quickly that the meal would be done within 40 minutes. Since there is not a lot of evening entertainment, it would be nice to be able to linger over a nice meal. A place to dance before 11 pm might be a nice idea for people who are usually in bed around that time! Yes, there are boats in the water in front of the resort and they can play loud music. They are a bit of an eyesore, but we would just walk a little down the beach when we wanted to swim. Overall, we had a nice week at this beautiful resort. I'm not sure we'd return only because there are so many places we want to see, but I would certainly not be opposed. There are a lot of positives to the Lopesan.

The battler was amazing but the hotel it self was okay , the room was not so clean and the staff and service was not so great especially when we first arrived the girl at front desk was rude and our rooms were not ready for more then three hours but when we upgraded to unique the other girl helped us a lot and was very friendly and our room was ready right away so I believe if your not unique guest they won’t help you the same way !!! And I think unique title doesn’t change anything besides having a battler ! He was really amazing and helpful thank you Jose !!

Had an amazing week. The resort is beautiful, well kept, and super clean! The room was spacious and accommodated us perfectly! The staff was super helpful, especially Jose Antonio, he was super friendly and checked in on us every single day to make sure our needs were met! Definitely will be back to the resort someday!

I want to leave a review for whomever is about to go here, I unfortunately was not able to go. I had planned this trip back in September to take my family and my two elderly parents included for this month as a family trip. Well, come January I found out my brother was very ill and has been admitted to the hospital with cancer. I had reached out to Expedia since that is who i booked it with, they had tried to reach out to the resort multiple times to explain my situation. Now, i know i did not book the fully refundable, that is fine i was trying to see if we could just postpone the date for a later date since I need to be with my family during this time. This resort hung up on me multiple times, I even tried to speak to someone in Spanish, and they were rude and hung up on me, Expedia tried multiple times and was hung up on as well. I have never felt so disrespected. I was not asking for my money back, I was just trying to postpone the date so I could spend time with my family during this difficult time. If the service was this horrible just trying to get a phone call or email in, I can only imagine how horrible their customer service is in person.
