BUYER BEWARE: Nickelodeon Resort Punta Cana Massively Overpromises and Underdelivers My family stayed at Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts Punta Cana from October 10 to October 17, 2026, and unfortunately, the experience was a major disappointment. For the thousands of dollars we spent, we expected a genuine luxury vacation with excellent food, quality service, and entertainment for the whole family. Instead, we encountered disappointing food, inconsistent restaurant availability, poor communication, and what felt like constant attempts to upsell additional experiences. Honestly, for the same amount of money, we could have taken a Disney cruise and enjoyed a far better vacation. This resort does not deliver the luxury experience it advertises. Based on our experience, the emphasis seemed to be on selling additional packages and experiences rather than ensuring guests received the services they had already paid for. 1. Terrible Food and Limited Restaurant Options The food was consistently cold, tasteless, and disappointing. For a resort charging luxury prices, the quality of the food was simply unacceptable. Before arriving, the resort's website indicated that restaurant reservations were required. However, upon check-in, my family was told that reservations were not necessary. During our entire one-week stay, we managed to eat at the Asian restaurant only once. On other occasions, it was closed, and on one occasion, it was unavailable because it had been booked for an event. The Spacewalker restaurant was also closed on certain days. As a result, we were frequently forced to eat at the buffet, where the food was cold and lacked flavour. Room service was another frustrating experience. The television indicated that we could place orders directly through it, which is exactly what we did. However, when we called to follow up, we discovered that our order had never been received. We had to place the order again and wait approximately 45 minutes. Why should guests pay thousands of dollars for a supposedly luxury, all-inclusive vacation and then struggle to access basic dining services? 2. Constant Upselling and Uncomfortable Sales Tactics Another major disappointment was the resort's apparent focus on upselling. Upon arrival, a salesperson promoting the Prestige package took my phone number and added me to WhatsApp to arrange a meeting the following morning. As frequent travellers, we understood that this was likely a sales presentation, but we agreed to attend. Unfortunately, we waited approximately 15 minutes because the salesperson could not find an English-speaking representative to assist us. We eventually left. He later contacted us to reschedule, but we chose not to attend another meeting. The entire experience was frustrating and left us feeling that the resort was more interested in selling additional packages than providing a seamless guest experience. 3. Disappointing Character Experiences Families visiting a Nickelodeon resort naturally expect memorable opportunities to meet their favourite characters and take photographs. However, we were allowed only one photograph per family. The entertainment staff rushed the process, and many of the pictures did not turn out well. If families want more time with the characters, they are encouraged to purchase an additional character experience. This felt like yet another opportunity to charge guests extra for an experience they would reasonably expect to be part of a family-focused resort vacation. The whole process felt rushed rather than magical or memorable. 4. Very Limited Evening Entertainment During our entire seven-night stay, there were only two shows at the theatre: a magic show and a circus show. On the other evenings, there were no theatre shows. For a resort marketed as a family entertainment destination, this was extremely disappointing. We expected a much broader selection of evening activities to keep both children and adults entertained throughout the week. 5. Language and Communication Challenges Communication was another area that could be significantly improved. Our experience suggested that English-speaking guests may encounter difficulties accessing assistance in their preferred language. The difficulty finding an English-speaking representative during our scheduled meeting was one example. For an international resort welcoming families from different countries, reliable English-language assistance should be readily available. 6. The Water Park Was the Only Mildly Positive Highlight To be fair, the water park was the only mildly positive aspect of our stay. However, one enjoyable facility was not enough to compensate for the overall disappointment in dining, service, entertainment, and the general guest experience. Final Verdict: Not Worth the Money Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts Punta Cana massively overpromises and underdelivers. The resort's luxury image and pricing created expectations that our actual experience simply did not meet. Cold and tasteless food, restaurants that were frequently closed or unavailable, a room-service order that was never received, rushed character photographs, limited evening entertainment, and repeated opportunities to purchase additional experiences all contributed to a disappointing vacation. I genuinely regret spending thousands of dollars on this trip. For the price we paid, we expected much better value, service, food, and entertainment. Instead, we left feeling that we had paid a premium price without receiving the quality of experience that should come with it. My advice to other families is simple: do your research before booking this resort. Compare other all-inclusive resorts carefully and consider whether your money would be better spent elsewhere. A Disney cruise is also worth comparing at a similar price point. I am sharing this review to help other families make an informed decision before spending their hard-earned money. Based on our experience, I would not recommend this resort to anyone expecting a true luxury vacation. Buyer beware: Do not judge this resort by its marketing alone. Consider the actual guest experience before you book.

The worst experience I’ve ever had! I don’t even do reviews, but I had to make sure I made one for this place! I don’t recommend at all! Well go to the one in Mexico, but this one is horrible. The staff was awful, the food was even worse, and the entire experience was a 2/10. It’s really sad because people spend their money, but I will never return. We couldn’t get any help unless the prestige concierge guy rolando wanted us to help him by going to this presentation for a timeshare! We wanted to do the floating breakfast, no help. The app was incorrect as well. The guy at the front desk talked me into getting a pool & the pool stayed dirty. Everything also closed at 6/7. I wouldn’t recommend, find another resort for your money!

My family and I had a wonderful time. There were a few issues with our nest swim up suite, but they accommodated us and gave us a better onewith no charge. The food was decent, but the hospitality was wonderful.

This is our fourth Karisma Resort and by far the worst. The resort is worn down a bit. Service is a hit or miss but mostly miss most of the time. Very limited food options, they were out of some items at all restaurants. No issues getting any reservations due to being a Karisma member. Very limited on alcohol as well. They were out of Gin most of the time. They did say there are going to renovate sometime soon but won’t find out if service and resort will improve since we won’t be coming back. We will be going to another Karisma resort we haven’t been to in January 2027 and hope it will be better.

I can honestly say with absolute certainty that this is the worst hotel I've ever stayed at. We arrived and got accosted by our concierge telling me I was getting discounts for things, which obviously who doesn't take a discount that's offered? Sounds good then when I was leaving he said he'd see me at the promotion event tomorrow, which I asked what is that and was told it's free blah blah, looked it up after, it's to do with getting a time share, I wouldn't take a time share here if it was free. I told him no I'd rather pay than listen to a marketing spiel about this kip. Then we went to get lunch which is frankly inedible. The buffet was open my child said the pizza tasted like feet and I can confirm, it did in fact taste like feet! I honestly lived on bread rolls and rice and I am not a fussy eater, the food is cold and hard. We tried the Asian one night, it was ok-ish but we ordered and the food was with us in 2 minutes so obviously not made to order and this is not good enough for a 5 star hotel at this price. The Italian was disgusting. My personal highlight of the trip (sarcasm incoming) was having food at the water park bar, my chicken wrap had mold on it! I showed the man who gave it to me, literally green mold spots all over it and he shrugged, I told him no, not acceptable and he shrugged again so I left it and walked off without eating. I also had an upset stomach after eating at the buffet, it was not pleasant. The rooms are frankly run down and I can't believe anyone would consider this a 5 star hotel, on a good day I'd say 2 star..the shower had a layer of grime when we walked in, there is a broken door outside every room, the balcony was filthy as was the pool we paid for. Our bathroom stank of cabbage, it was so bad we had to leave the back door open when we were there. The coffee maker was not cleaned before we arrived, I wanted a tea and the water came out dark brown and it smelled, it also would stop randomly then fill up and overflow and when I added water into it, there was a literal build up of dirt in it. The staff are rude and openly laugh at customers, which happened in one of the shops, they actually asked me after laughing do I speak Spanish because they realised I knew what they were doing and then continued to laugh. The only thing I enjoyed was the gym and even then the gym is outdated, gym hours are good though! We had a massage at the spa and that was the highlight of the trip. If you are expecting to meet characters, you won't unless it's paid for, that was the only thing my kid enjoyed and was happy and smiling at..the best thing I can say about this place is our stay was short ..I really mean this for anyone considering this place, DO NOT BOOK unless you like overpriced kips with inedible food.
