Royalton Punta Cana, An Autograph Collection All-Inclusive Resort & Casino

Location was good, had accessibility to multiple properties. Atmosphere was great. Room layout was nice but needs better maintenance, upgrade and renovations... there was a bad smell coming out of the a/c daily. Saw a roach came out of the bathroom 2 days back to back. Noise level was okay not too loud. Service was a hit and miss, most of the staff was friendly but some not so friendly.. and hardly acknowledge you. People that made the stay feel better and we would visit again because of there great service, warm smiles and attention to detail *Francisca was excellent on our dinner night at the buffet on the shared property. Radhames was bubbly and attentive at lunch. Patricia at the perfume store was very friendly and helpful. Sorianny was my favorite as her smiles, warmth, helpful and welcomeness made our stay... from arrival to hostess at few of the restaurants she is definitely an asset to that property..

This is my honest opinion/review of Royalton Punta Cana, which I visited with my two adolescent children. I waited about three weeks before writing this review so that I could process the experience, cool down, and look at it more objectively. Overall, we had some relaxing and enjoyable time, but the vacation was spoiled by several things that I did not like and, in some cases, was really upset about, despite trying to ignore them and make the best of our trip. Check-in: The check-in process was a disaster. After almost three hours of waiting, we were sent to the wrong room. The room was then changed, but when we arrived at the new room, it was being painted. Finally, we were given a room that was not completely cleaned and was not well maintained. At that point, however, we just wanted to relax under the air conditioner, take a shower, and change. Unfortunately, after waiting about 1.5 hours for our luggage, I had to go look for it myself. I found all three suitcases sitting in the middle of the hallway outside one of the rooms we had previously been assigned. I ended up carrying all three suitcases down the stairs to our room by myself. Food: The food was mediocre. However, we were able to find things we liked for breakfast and lunch, and we made reservations at the restaurants for dinner. The number of available reservations is very limited, and reservations for the following day need to be made early in the morning through the resort’s app. I actually liked the app once I got used to using it. The restaurants were also very below average, but they were still a better alternative than having dinner at the buffet. Resort: I liked that the resort is relatively small, so there is not much walking required to get anywhere, which is especially nice in the heat. The grounds are kept clean and neat, and maintenance personnel can be seen working throughout the resort. Beach: The beach was disappointing. I am guessing they try to keep it “natural,” but as a result, it was not cleaned properly. There were pieces of vegetation everywhere, which made it difficult to walk barefoot. It seemed that only the garbage was being picked up. The sand also washes away with the rain. There is a huge pipe (I think it is a pipe) running right along the beach, separating the water from the lounge-chair area. About half of the lounge chairs were missing their covers. I actually found the lounge-chair covers that were available to be comfortable, although they were not particularly clean. The seaweed was also not cleaned up properly compared with other hotels I have stayed at. One person with a rake would move it from one side to the other and back again, sometimes creating a small walkway to the water. There are also many vendors on the beach selling different products and services, such as braiding, cigars, massages, and pictures with monkeys and parrots. I did not mind the vendors at all at first. However, I eventually became uncomfortable when some of them started hanging around right next to us for hours, having loud conversations and drinking drinks from the pool bar. Guest Service: One of my children got sick during the trip, and I saw a medication he needed being sold at one of the resort stores for $25. The store was out of it the following morning. I then tried to order the medication through Guest Services in the main lobby. They initially tried to charge me $55. When I expressed how upset I was about what felt like price gouging at a time when I needed medication for my child, the price suddenly went down to $14. That experience really left a bad impression on me. Pool: I cannot say much about the pool because I am much more of a beach person than a pool person. Staff: The friendliness of the staff was hit or miss. Most of the workers were nice and helpful, with the exception of the people at check-in, who were probably the most frustrating part of our experience. Entertainment: I liked some of the entertainment options. The White Party on Mondays was fun, as was the weekly foam party. There were also small games and activities a couple of times a day for those who enjoy that type of entertainment. The evening shows, however, were generally very low-level. We did enjoy the circus, Michael Jackson, and magic shows. The condition of the theater was terrible. About half of the seats were either broken or missing, which really took away from the experience. I was not a fan of the nightclub, although other people seemed to be enjoying it. Departure Day: On our departure day, our flight was cancelled. Instead of going to an outside hotel paid for by the airline, I was told that staying one additional night at the resort would cost $150. I thought that was fair and reasonable under the circumstances. When I received the receipt in Dominican pesos, I even double-checked with the person at check-in that the amount was $150 USD, and he confirmed that it was. When we returned home, however, I discovered that my credit card had been charged $400. Bottom line: Unfortunately, more than once during this trip I felt scammed, taken advantage of, stupid, put down, lied to, and unnecessarily stressed. We tried our best to make the most of our vacation and not let these things ruin our time together, but there were simply too many negative experiences. I would not return to Royalton Punta Cana, and I would not recommend this resort to others. My personal opinion: they have a long way to go before living up to the name Royalton.

Just come back from Royalton Punta Cana. Have the most fantastic 2 weeks Antonio our butler was amazing would recommend to anyone

Awful resort, food is terribly, vomiting after first dinner, stomach upset, Diarrhoea, slippery tiles, drinks are local and revolting, tv took 30 minutes to turn on, air conditioning could not be control, complained various time but nothing sorted, whole resort is run down, staff over worked shifts, AVOID AT ALL COST

Oh my days! Where do I begin. To start off this place is amazing. The staff and the manager work so hard all day every day to make your holiday as enjoyable as they can make it. Nothing is too much trouble. We are staying in the Hideaway part of the resort which is kiddie free. There is a lovely little reception and a snack area which is open all day long. Here you can get soft drinks and alcohol too. The rooms are quite large. Impeccably clean and extremely comfortable. The maid comes every day to make the bed and give it a clean. Shampoo, conditioner and body wash is provided in the wonderful powerful shower. Over all this is a wonderful resort. It is great value for money. We are really pleased with the attentiveness of the staff. There are a couple of stand out ladies Sorainny, Jenny and Darriana. Lovely kind and warm ladies who made our stay extra special. Also a big shout out to the manager who was absolutely amazing. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this resort to all.
