Just come back from a 10 day stay here and all I can say is wow..... what a resort. The grounds the pools and the room were immaculate. The maintenance men were out every day doing the grass and clearing up the leaves that had fallen off the trees. The location was right on the beach. The sea was a bit brown due to seaweed gathering but we knew it was the season for that so didnt bother us at all but the sand was so smooth and white. The food in the buffet restaurant was good but could be a bit warmer but there was a good choice. Big shout out to the man who cooked our beef to how we like it. Didn't get his name but he always used a huge seasoning pepper pot to season the meat and it was delicious. And also to Magalis who cooked my eggs to perfection every morning. And shout out to all the restaurant staff who seen to our every need. There was too many to mention but one was Silvio who always made sure we had a drink at mealtimes. Our stay was made more enjoyable by some of the amazing bar staff. Sammy in the preffered club bar made us some amazing cocktails and always came to see if we wanted anything else. The guys at the drifter pool bar Obispo,Sebastian,Rosa and Algeny. They were amazing. They made any drink you wanted and Obispo made a cocktail just for me. God knows what was in it but it was gorgeous. Im going to miss them. Also Euri at one of the other pools. Just tell him what drink you want and he got it for you. He also sang Michael Jackson songs around the pool which lit up our day. You must also visit the coco cafe where Denisse and Pamela made the best coffees. Our room cleaner Bellamina cleaned our room to perfection. She came every day we were their and nothing was too much. If you do visit this hotel I would recommend that you upgrade to preffered club because you get little extras that I think was wort paying the extra for. You can also use Dreams royal beach next door so you get 2 hotels in 1. And also in preferred you get your own butler. Ours was called Yafreisy. He was amazing. He gave us his number to message him on WhatsApp to ask whatever you like. Anything you want he would sort it for you. He even took us to one of the restaurants next door in a golf buggy so we didnt have to walk there. Even now im home I still message him to see how everyone that we met is getting on. You can't go wrong with this resort.
My Finance and I have been to multiple all inclusive resorts and Secrets royal beach has been our favourite. The staff, food/drinks and entertainment were all fantastic. The room was beautiful and clean. We would return.
Well what can I say apart from our holiday with Secrets was AMAZINGGGGGG!!! from the room, to the food, beach, staff, everything! Everything is just outstanding. It was a very special holiday as we got engaged but the resort and entertainment staff really made our holiday, shout out to Jorgi & Michael. We did not want to leave and already planning to go back. The beach is just stunning and the workers work so hard to keep it spotless!! The bars, restaurants and show times are great! Asian restaurant being our favourite! From both of us to everyone at Secrets , THANK YOU!!!! We will be back x
As preferred members, we loved the facilities, gorgeous pools, beautiful beach, even with seasonal sargassum. Rooms were excellent. Service stood out. Caesar, our butler, was on it always and kept everything smooth. Francis Gonzalez, the pickleball pro, was phenomenal. He worked with my wife daily and elevated her game. A huge plus for anyone who cares about pickleball. Food was hit or miss, some overcooked and under-seasoned, but seafood was a highlight. Atmosphere was warm and social. We met at least six great couples and the shows were consistently excellent.”
This was our second time at this resort. We spent our honeymoon here in 2013 and had an amazing experience, which is why we decided to return. Unfortunately, we didn’t enjoy it quite as much this time around. I’ll preface this by saying that we’ve been travelling to the Dominican Republic for the past 20 years, so we’ve stayed at many different resorts and have quite a bit to compare it to. Pros: The resort itself is beautiful. I saw some reviews saying that it seemed a little run down, but that wasn’t our experience at all. From the lobby to the grounds and throughout the property, we thought everything was lovely and well maintained. Our room was amazing. It was large and clean, the bed was comfortable, the air conditioning worked beautifully, and we had a nice balcony for sitting outside. The bathroom was spacious and housekeeping was always on top of things. We never once returned to an uncleaned room. We did have an issue with a broken shower head, but it was repaired very quickly. The location of our room was also perfect. We booked a Junior Suite Pool View and stayed in room 2227 on the second floor overlooking the quiet pool. We were about halfway between the beach and the restaurants/lobby area, so everything was easily accessible. The Asian restaurant was by far our favourite. We skipped the teppanyaki show since we’ve seen it many times before and ordered from the regular menu instead. Everything we had was delicious. We also really appreciated that reservations aren’t required for the restaurants, with the exception of the teppanyaki experience. Pool and beach chairs were plentiful, as were towels. We never had an issue finding a good spot. The afternoons were definitely busier, but even then we always managed to find chairs. The beach was amazing. We didn’t have any issues with seaweed during our stay. I’m not sure if the beach was being cleaned regularly, but whenever we went it was beautiful white sand. There were only small bits of seaweed floating in the ocean, and otherwise the water was fairly clear. We also loved the hotel app and used it for everything: ordering room service, requesting pickup of empty dishes, checking shows and activities, requesting repairs, viewing restaurant menus and more. It was incredibly convenient. One person who deserves a special mention is Maria at the Showtime Bar. She is absolutely wonderful. She was so friendly and kind and consistently provided fantastic service. She was definitely a standout during our stay. Cons: Immediately after check-in, we were directed to sit with someone from the VIP team who was trying to get us to attend a breakfast meeting, which we assumed was related to a timeshare or vacation club presentation. After travelling, we were hot, tired and just wanted to get to our room. We had to decline several times before we were finally able to leave. This was not a great way to start the vacation and really shouldn’t be pushed on guests immediately after arrival. The overall food quality seems to have gone down since our previous visit. Aside from the Asian and French restaurants, we didn’t particularly enjoy the other restaurants. The buffet was okay, but we found the selection fairly limited compared with other resorts we’ve visited. The pool temperatures were far too warm. We understand that the weather affects pool temperature, but we’ve stayed at other resorts during extremely hot weather where the pools were still cool and refreshing. Here, they were consistently warm and never really provided an escape from the heat. Unfortunately, our experience at the spa was probably our biggest disappointment. We paid over $300 USD for a couples massage and essentially felt like oil was being rubbed over us for an hour rather than receiving an actual massage. We understand that spa experiences can vary from resort to resort, but these massages were exceptionally poor, especially considering the price. The massage staff would benefit from additional training. Service throughout the resort was generally just okay. During our previous stay, we remembered the service being exceptional, with someone often asking what you needed before you had even fully sat down. We didn’t experience that level of attentiveness this time. The service wasn’t bad by any means, but it also wasn’t particularly memorable. That said, every staff member we encountered throughout the week was friendly and helpful. The nightly entertainment was a bit “meh.” It certainly wasn’t the worst we’ve seen, but it wasn’t among the best either. We were looking forward to the Beyoncé show that was listed on the schedule, but when that evening arrived, it had been changed to something else. We didn’t participate in many of the daytime activities, although we did notice that the entertainment staff were regularly around the resort engaging with guests. Overall: Overall, I would describe this visit as just okay. There were definitely things we enjoyed, and we still had a great vacation, but the resort didn’t live up to the experience we remembered from our honeymoon. I don’t think we would return to this particular property again. We’ve generally had great experiences at other Hyatt properties, so we’ll likely continue trying different ones in the future. There is still a lot to like about this resort, but for us, the food, spa experience, pool temperatures and overall level of service kept this visit from being as memorable as our first.
