I was there last week and I must say I had a great time.. It's definitely not a 5 star resort and need Improvement in few places. The main areas like reception pool and walking areas are very well maintained. But the corridors to the room could do with some upgrades and especially the lifts. The staff were great and very helpful One chap who raised the bar was Welkin at the concierge bell boy. Very good person and mega helpful The buffet could do with some upgrades may be a more variety. The a la carte as well could do with some. New menus as it all seems very repetitive. All in all I had a good time
Hector,Estefani,Rudi,Edwin,Merfi, Domingo and bar team was great and recommended to come 👍 👌 👏
Pleasant experience, felt safe, facility very clean, people very friendly and accommodating . More adult activity could be provided.
Amazing resort, excellent staff, very very clean and spacious, food pretty good, had an excellent vacation there, beach has beautiful white sand, the water was a bit cloudy due to the way the sea flows, we had an amazing week swimming as did many of the other guests, the beaches were cleaned every day, We had a great week swimming, Hope to travel there again w, Thank you Serenade for your service and hospitality
We stayed at the Serenade Punta Cana in a Luxury Master Suite October 9 – 16th 2026. We were a family of 4 (4 year old and 8 year old children) and our aunt and uncle in their 70s. Coming into this vacation I was sick with worry having heard so many horror stories about the resort and it’s food and service. We knew the beach would not be turquoise blue waters. While it’s a bummer, we weren’t shocked by it or upset by any means. So here’s an honest review of how our week went: Check in: The front desk check in was great. It was quick, efficient, with Carlos being super friendly, kind, interacting with us and our children. We were given welcome drinks. When we got to our room, we were accidentally given a room that wasn’t cleaned as of yet. So my husband went back to the front desk and was immediately given a top floor room with a bigger balcony. Rooms: Rooms 6411 and 6322. Beautiful. Spotless. Clean. Spacious. I’ve been to the Dominican about 15 times or so. I’ve been to Cuba and Jamaica as well. This was hands down one of the nicest rooms I’ve had. 2 Showers, 2 bathrooms, giant balcony, 2 TVs, 2 stocked fridges. It was great. We left a few dollars and a note asking for more water since we had young children and we were given 24 bottles the next day! So we had plenty of safe water for brushing teeth and washing faces and drinking. There was another guest saying they were overrun with cockroaches in our building, but I want to be very stern in saying we did not see ONE single cockroach in our building, not in our rooms, nor the halls or elevator. When we were told about this it was the last morning of our trip, our luggages had rested on the floor so I went back up to our room and took out everything piece by piece of clothing, shaking it out, looking under beds etc (not wanting to take any hitchhikers home with me). There was nothing. We often left our phone out charging, tablets out of the kids, none of things were touched at all or taken. Grounds/Pools: Beautiful. So well maintained. Daily there were workers landscaping, watering, cleaning. The main party pool with a swim up is murky – I’ve never seen a clean swim up bar pool to be honest. Spilled drinks etc, people sitting there likely peeing. That’s 100% normal and not a resort thing. They cleaned and chlorinated like clockwork every morning 6-8am (my family watched from the balconies). While we were there they installed several new palapas around the pool, getting rid of the white umbrellas with stands so they are clearly trying to improve the place all the time. We did see 2 PALM ROACHES. These are different than household/food roaches. They are giant and live in palm trees. If you think these shouldn’t be around then you should probably not travel to a tropical island. One was alive and one was dead. That was it.. the entire trip. Restaurants: They were all clean. Again, my uncle and I actively LOOKED for cockroaches after reading reviews saying the restaurants were overrun. Every single meal for 7 days we looked and we saw ZERO lol. The buffet was okay, plenty of options, very clean, great service, friendly waiters 99% of the time. We tried the Japanese a la carte, Italian a la carte and the steakhouse twice. The Japanese was okay, the Italian was incredible, and the steakhouse was good too. All 3 – beautiful and very clean with attentive waiters. We never waited at any of the a la cartes more than 10 minutes before our food started coming out once ordered. Sports bar – was great. We sat outside most days, and inside a couple times. Ordered off the menu. We had chicken wings, Pizza, burgers, chicken nuggets/strips and the chicken tacos almost daily for lunch and never ONCE was it undercooked or sketchy. Just so yummy. Food in general: The food was pretty typical of the Dominican. In our party of 6 no one got sick. However, I have a strict rule of avoiding fresh produce in the Dominican. Since the water isn’t safe for drinking – if produce is not washed well enough after harvest – it can make you sick (it was watered with their water), if it’s washed in unfiltered water – it can make you sick. So we stick to cooked veggies, and fruits you can peel, or that were cut open (oranges, watermelon, cantaloupe etc). Other than that we ate everything, we just checked chicken to ensure proper cook before eating it (never once was it undercooked or raw). My kids even had the deli meats from the counters with no issue. To be fair we did get to the buffet within an hour of it opening when we went to the buffet. If you get there half hour before it closes yes food has been sitting out so I’d probably not have done cheese or deli meats that are now sweating. Staff/Service: Great. We had maybe 1-2 miserable/not helpful staff the entire week. The rest are friendly, helpful, professional. No issues at all. Estefani at the main pool was THE BEST. We never got to finish a drink really without her there asking if we needed another. She even gifted my children little keychains to remember her and the resort by. She was such a great person (see photos). Be sure to tip her, we did tip throughout the resort when we got good service and nothing extravagant, and it isn’t forgotten. You’re there a week, it’s well worth it. My aunt and uncle booked us an anniversary lobster dinner, and I lost the receipt, the occasion desk hugged my aunt who was upset thinking she might have to pay again and reassured her no – we are all good just show up and give our room number and they will make it amazing (and wow did they ever – decorated table, singing, cake, off menu items, champagne on ice tableside it was an INCREDIBLE anniversary dinner). Bars/Drinks: The best Whiskey Sour is at the lobby bar. The only miserable staff we encountered was at the café in the lobby but they do make some great coffees/iced coffees. I never found the drinks to be watered down at all, and if you wanted “mas rum” just ask for it and they are happy to oblige. My kids loved the lime daiquiris without alcohol and pina coladas without alcohol. Kids Club: Can’t speak to it. I didn’t let my kids in there because I know ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD – the kids club is FULL OF GERMS lol. Plus I didn’t want them inside in air conditioning when they could be outside in the sun and sand and pools swimming and enjoying the weather. Also near the end of the trip we heard there was hand foot and mouth going around and the kids club seemed to be the culprit because they have a ball pit (and that’s IMPOSSIBLE to properly clean). The arcade was neat, we had planned to go play some games but never got around to it. The Beach: The only negative in my opinion! There were some clear spots, and I snorkelled out to those, it was lovely. It’s still swimmable 100%, but there is a lot of dark/brown/seaweed and it isn’t your typical bavaro beach teal blue crystal waters (however this resort is not on bavaro beach – so that makes sense!). I’ve heard it clears up more December – March so that’s cool just not a time we travel as a family. They clean it daily, the sand was beautiful and clear, we made sand castles, walked along and found seashells, the workers work hard to clear out as much sargassum as they can at the shoreline. Tons of people were still at the beach despite the condition. We were asked a couple times about buying things/booking excursions. We politely said no thanks, and many of the sellers just made friendly small talk with us about where we’re from etc and went on their way. No one was pushy. Also – we never got bothered by the time share people by the lobby they asked once we said no thanks and that was it. Overall – it was a pretty perfect week (5 minutes of daytime rain while we were in the pool so it didn’t even matter – the entire week), good food, no illnesses, great service, beautiful room, we relaxed, we swam, we ate, just a great week. Would I go back? I don’t know – because I recognize it was a very low occupancy week the first 5 days we were there. We had almost no one at the pool with us all day (a few other loungers taken and that was it) we booked all the a la cartes we wanted with no issues, we had no neighbours for the first 5 days beside our rooms, it was quiet and lovely. If it was at capacity I can see where it might not be as wonderful since it is a small resort, and I think that we would like to try the caribe for the additional water slides and lazy river. But if this came up at the right price – 100% we’d come again and see how it was the second time around. Hope this review helps!
