Sunscape Dominicus La Romana

This hotel is only 3* at the very best. The food in the windows buffet restaurant is well below par, it is very poor and un appetising, the service is terrible with tables not cleared or cleaned, no drinks offered and often ran out of plates, the plates were often plastic picnic plates & glasses were chipped badly. The kaleidoscope restaurant was better with decent staff that were more helpful and the food was improved. The al a cartes were just ok. The upgrade ‘sunclub’ is a waste of money as non sunclub guests were using all the upgraded amenities without paying a penny! The beach & ocean is lovely, but the beach is very busy and all sunloungers are on top of each other! Week-ends are particularly busy as locals buy a day pass and the resort becomes chaotic! The rooms are very basic with hardly any space for clothes (only 2 drawers), electric outlets hardly work. The resort at night is very very dark with very low lighting on walkways (saw lots of people stumble). The entertainment crew work very hard all day/night. The bars were busy & served decent drinks (we tipped heavily), but noticed lots of people did not tip. The tortuga bar on the beach served the best cocktails and the chap in there did a great job! We were sunclub but would not recommend anybody paying to upgrade as it was not worth it. Been going to Dominican every year since 1997 and this is a resort I would neither recommend or return to, first time I’ve ever been ready to go home! This resort is geared towards Argentinian & Portuguese really, English is not spoken or understood really. Punta Cana is much more international. The hotel is in dire need of an upgrade & staff training, guests are paying too much money to have to clean their own tables and search for cutlery etc. there were a handful of staff that were polite and helpful. Isis on sunclub reception, Diosiris guest services manager and Yengelis in kaleidoscope restaurant they really stood out! This is only my opinion of the hotel based on the fact that I have visited many other DR resorts and it falls way short of the brochure description unfortunately. Go and make your own mind up…🤷🏼‍♀️

TUI and all the British holiday sites desperately need to take this off their booking sites. We were quite happy while the hotel was not over run (despite waiting 3 hours for our baby cot on arrival) but with the influx of new residents Brits’ are blatantly surpassed. I was literally stood in a cue and the guy served over my head on 2 occasions. I haven’t experienced this all week and this was at a bar I hadn’t been going to but it’s not the point. The comments about tipping, no one is tipping and I’m certainly not paying for racist service 👍🏻 very happy to be leaving in a couple days. However, the bar we usually go to is lovely staff but this really does leave a bad taste in your mouth. Wouldn’t return with my family, there’s much better service for the budget holiday closer to home. Also if you have young babies, there’s nothing to do outside of the hotel. There’s isn’t really even any safe walkways

I was with my coworkers and I was enjoying the amenities, and I needed use the boats, and the employees that was working in that moment told me something about my nationality, when I ask for his name, cause he told me I was unavailable to use this services when my package tell me that yeas I was.

The hotel is very beautiful, and the rooms are cool and comfortable. The beach is amazing and offers many water activities, which I loved. The staff is very friendly.

Nice beach, nice entertainment, not-so-good rooms. Sun Club is worth it for the pool bar (nice drinks) and the exclusive beach area, but not so much for the room. The pool conditions were disappointing. Lack of maintenance.
