We are returning guests to The Clan, which made our experience on this occasion particularly disappointing. We booked a Deluxe Room through Agoda and requested a large/double bed. We fully accept that this was a preference and subject to availability. That is not the basis of this review. The problem was what happened at check-in. We specifically discussed the bed arrangement before accepting the room. We were not told that all genuine double-bed rooms had already been allocated. Instead, we were told that the hotel could accommodate us by pushing two single beds together. We therefore proceeded with check-in on that understanding. When we entered the room, we found an extremely wide improvised bed. The hotel apparently did not have bedding suitable for the configuration it had created. Two separate duvets had been placed across the bed from opposite sides, substantially overlapping in the middle because neither was wide enough to cover the joined beds properly. We immediately went back to reception and showed staff a photograph. We were told that a larger duvet would be sent to the room. What initially arrived was simply a third duvet of the same inadequate width, which we refused. The Duty Manager subsequently became involved and explained that the hotel was full and the double-bed rooms had already been allocated. After further discussion, a genuinely larger duvet was sent to us, but even this was not wide enough to cover the unusually wide bed created by joining the two singles. This was a one-night stay. Had we simply been told at check-in, “Unfortunately, we have no double rooms remaining; we can only offer you a twin,” we could have made an informed decision whether to accept it or stay elsewhere. Instead, we checked in believing that the arrangement being offered would provide a suitable alternative. There was a further concern with the Agoda presentation of the room. The Deluxe Room listing displayed 18 photographs which appeared to include different room types/configurations without clearly identifying which photographs represented the room category we were actually booking. That added to the difference between our reasonable expectations when booking and what we ultimately received. To the hotel's credit, after our stay senior management personally investigated our complaint. Their written response acknowledged that the team had an opportunity to explain matters with greater transparency at check-in and that there had been shortcomings concerning the alternative arrangement and our acceptance of it. I appreciate that acknowledgement. They have offered us a complimentary room upgrade on a future booking. While the gesture is appreciated, we live in London and Singapore is around a 13-hour flight away. We have no plans to return next year and don't know when we will next be in Singapore, so an upgrade that requires another paid stay unfortunately has little practical value to us. The room itself was not the fundamental problem. It was the lack of transparency at check-in, the unsuitable alternative arrangement and the way the problem was subsequently handled. Having stayed at The Clan before, we expected considerably better.

The location is amazing very close to Chinatown, great restaraunts and cuisines available within walking distance. The rooms and hotel was very clean and comfortable. The staff were amazing, very friendly and accommodating especially Wilson. We would definitely recommend The Clan Hotel and will be visiting again in the near future.

Positioned directly in front of Chinatown and within easy walking distance of Marina Bay Sands, The Clan served as a seamless transit stay for our single night in Singapore. A delivery brought to the lobby prior to our arrival was handled with great care by the front desk team. The base room was modern, impeccably clean, and well-proportioned for a city hotel, equipped with every practical amenity including an iron and ironing board. What truly elevated the experience was their post-checkout hospitality. After spending the following day exploring the city, the hotel securely held our four suitcases and offered us full access to the pool facilities to shower and refresh before our late-afternoon flight.
