Riu Costa del Sol

Loved this hotel. Really quick transfer, quick check in. Room not ready but you get your wristband so can use the amenities. Then emailed 30 mins later to say ready. We had a 1 bedroom on the 3rd floor block 5. Bit dated but clean and pool view. Cleaners brilliant. Water in fridge. Free safe. No tourist tax. Breakfast best meal with lots of choice. Never busy in restaurant. Other meals good choice but could do with better desserts choice. Bars never busy as also have self serve machines. 3 big pools which are never busy for sunbeds. We went to the one just in front of the pool bar and could get beds at 10am as long as you didn't want to choose where you were.. others were up at 7am to get a spot. Not needed. 10 mins from Mccarthy Glen shopping. 20 min walk into centre of torremolinos and then lift to top which is 50 cents. Loved it.

I am a Riu Class member and the reason I booked this hotel is because it’s a Riu in a resort I wanted to visit - so I knew what I was going to get for what I paid. The hotel is situated across the road from the beach and has a great location. We used the free transfer as I booked direct with Riu so all was good with that we were second to be dropped off. Checked in really quickly despite a coach full of people arriving and was given a room which we asked for (high floor good view and sunny aspect) We had a look round whilst waiting for our rooms and found our bearings with where things were. Rooms were spotlessly cleaned every day the housekeeping team really do work hard to keep the place clean. The other great thing was towels were available to change between 10-6. Service at bars was fast and you were served quickly and all the team were friendly in their manner. So now the not so good bits ! TOWELS On SUNBEDS - you really have to be quick if you find an area around a pool That you like as people are out from 630 putting towels out which is crazy when there are 3 pools to sit round. FOOD Whilst the food is acceptable it’s cooked in front of you - the choices at times are very questionable as to who they were catering for - some days there was no cooked meat available with salads Other days there was lots of the same things on - Fish Soup, fish curry, fried fish, tuna pizza. It was like there was no choice but fish. Overall not really much to complain about but by the time it comes to go home you really do end up looking for meal Options, Oh and if Riu management are reading this can we please have spoons put onto the tables for breakfast and Dinner service ! Don’t understand why they’re not !

Check in very efficient and welcoming and a map outlining the Hotel facilities given along with information regarding breakfast, lunch and dinner options and times. Quiet location but plenty of restaurants in the vicinity. Found hotel very clean and cleaners always busy. Plenty of sunbeds available and comfortable. Plenty of daytime entertainment for adults such as archery, boules, darts, volleyball and a very energetic and vibrant activity group/leaders. Good fun and great participation from holidaymakers making friends and having fun. Nighttime entertainment hit and miss but again the entertainment team have some very good shows. Food plentiful and always available throughout the day and varied. Italian Restaurant a la carte quite good but Mexican Restaurant similar food options as main buffet restaurant. Restaurants are busy but no delays. Hotel very quite and rooms spacious and clean. Drinks could be hit or miss and draught beer much better during the day. Good atmosphere in this hotel and due to size and number of pools, bars and quiet areas never felt busy or overwhelming. Visit the Garden Bar, quiet and nice entertainment/music couple of times a week. Really enjoyed the hotel experience.

Nice clean hotel friendly staff food nice but can be repetitive though sometimes labelling is a bit hit and miss hotel is a 30 minute walk from centre hotel has 3 parts and 3 outdoor pools plus 2 pools for children it's 24 hour all inclusive. Negative is disabled toilet is big but doesn't have an automatic door opening so if you use it and by yourself the door is a bit of struggle we weren't able to book disabled room and room was satisfactory but a few adjustments in bathroom would help a non slip tile in shower and a portable handle for toilet If you enjoy a quiet hotel and sitting around pools it's perfect but if you prefer more nightlife and don't like walking then it's not for you

Food ok for breakfast and lunch. Clean. We booked for the kids entertainment but it was poor! So was some of the adult entertainment.
