Riu Costa del Sol

Was there with my wife for 8 days and we enjoyed most of our stay.We have been here 5 times now but we have a few gripes. Food very same and little variety from day to day. Food not being replenished fast enough and lukewarm at best. Chips and more chips only potato choice most nights. A microwave is needed . Was better on our previous stays. Children being allowed run around screaming in lobby bar area at 10 pm and staff not intervening. Don’t think we’ll be back

Plus points - lovely staff mainly, particularly on reception. Hotel in great prime location by the beach. Close to the airport for quick transfers. Spacious rooms with lovely side sea view. Plenty of sunbeds at all times (it was April so maybe different in peak times). Cons - food was most disappointing aspect which is unacceptable for a AI hotel. It was cold, poor quality, same day after day. Birds in the outdoor eating space were a problem. Towels are small thin, poor quality. Long queues to get drinks at the bar. No straws to drink frozen slushy cocktails- they give you a spoon!! Entertainment was enthusiastically performed but was a bit hit and miss! These aspects made it feel more 3* than 4* hotel. Such a shame as this hotel was recommended by someone who travels a lot but it has clearly gone downhill since their last visit in 2023 - so much unfulfilled potential!

Arrived around midday, a smooth check in, with 4 colleagues checking people in, the room was nt ready , got out all inclusive bands and headed to the bar , within the hour the room was ready. Room 5322, top floor, got the sun from midday til sunset. Every thing you need is in the room, you can replenish. the tea tray from any bar. Bottled water also available. The grounds, gardens and pool.Areas are immaculate. We found the food to be of decent quality with plenty of choice. We preferred the al a carte over the buffet. Outstanding service from all staff. Great location near the beach. Entertainment team work hard and provided an array of shows. There's a lovely little sports bar over the road. Well worth a visit .

We have literally just got back from our 2nd Visit to The Riu Costa Del Sol, the hotel didn't disappoint. So here is my very honest review. Check in: Very quick and with a smile. There were a lot of children here this time, but to be honest, all well behaved. We wouldn't normally go to Spain this early in the year, so was surprised to see so many children. There were also a lot of disabled people ( my husband included) which could be a challenge for the restaurant staff at meal times, but they managed it well. The tables were soon cleared and ready for the next guests. I really like the fact you are shown to a table, I hate that " free for all" trying to find a table, you find one, then only to find that someone has just gone to get their meal, must admit this has been mainly in the Caribbean. Cleaning: As most people agree, the cleaners do a fab job, the place is spotless. Entertainment: We don't usually bother at night, but have to say, the shows were very enjoyable and you can tell the team works very hard. Well done to them all. I love the Riu hotels as they are very reliable around meeting the needs of disabled people, yes we like our holidays too but they can be very challenging, and what some people may not realise ( and why would you if not disabled) is a lot of hotels abroad now are only allowing you to charge your mobility scooter and NOT use within the hotel, this would mean my husband ( and I) would be confined to our room and trust me as an able bodied person this would be torture for me. We took our own travel scooter away with us but hired a bigger one in the resort, The hotel even booked the scooter for us and was at the hotel at the exact time they said it would be, fab service. NOW THE FOOD: How anyone can complain about the food is beyond me. Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner has so many choices, if you cannot find something to eat then I have no idea what you eat at home? I love cooking and do not buy ready meals, so for me, it was a lovely change not having to think about our next meal, or the washing up after!. Our friends joined us on this holiday and trust me, she is very fussy with food but even she said " if I could give them 11 out of 10 I would" It must be so demoralising for the catering staff if they see some of the comments, Catering is bloody hard work, plus what you have to accept is the current cost of living crisis is affecting everyone, not just here at home,( UK) they do so well to put on as many choices as they do, Plus having to cater for so many different Nationalities must also be a challenge, yes we could agree and say the food could be hotter, but I have yet to visit any country that serves food as hot as we like to have at home. So from the 4 of us who enjoyed EVERY meal we had, it has to be a big thank you to all the catering/restaurant staff. We had a fab time in Spain, thanks to all who made this holiday enjoyable.

Amazing Hotel, With good choice of food and drinks,Location is great close to promenade and you can walk on the flat for miles in either direction.Train station is about a 10 minute walk behind Hotel, With trains to Malaga and Airport plus other resorts. Rooms are spacious we have been 3 years in row now and it hasnt disappointed at all, Dont bother upgrading room as the standard is very high, Staff are some of the friendliest we have met on our travels, They seem to enjoy working here.
