Iberostar Waves Club Cala Barca

Our stay at Iberostar Waves Club Cala Barca with a toddler and a 3-month-old baby was a complete nightmare. We paid over €2,500 for a holiday that was entirely ruined by four room moves, toxic room conditions, and broken management promises. Major issues included: - No AC in Main Buildings: There is zero air conditioning in any of the main hotel areas, offering no respite from the heat. - Hazardous Mould: Multiple rooms had an overpowering, toxic smell of mould coming from the AC vents. It actually caused my wife to develop a severe sore throat and was entirely unsafe for a newborn. -Broken Amenities: Across four rooms, we faced broken safes, broken room phones, unmade beds, missing baby cots, and missing towels. We spent our holiday walking back and forth to reception to complain. -Extreme Noise: We were placed near to entertainment stages where blasting music kept our babies awake and crying late into the night. On-site management agreed that our experience was unacceptable and promised a full refund. Save your money and go elsewhere.

We stayed here as a family of 8 and it was exceptional. The staff are really attentive, the facilities are great for a 4-star hotel, and the entertainment throughout the day and evening is brilliant. Food choices are excellent all day and into the evening, and the whole atmosphere of the complex is wonderful. Rooms are cleaned daily, the grounds are beautifully maintained, and the staff are as friendly as anything. The hotel is around an hour from Palma, so bear that in mind. Excursions that can be pre-booked are limited, which I personally found frustrating, however, there's an excursion stand run by ROIG in the hotel where you can book a range of trips with hotel pickup included. You can walk to nearby areas such as Porto Petro and Mondragó (the latter highly recommended, through the national park), or if you have limited mobility, the 521 bus stops right outside the hotel. It takes you to Cala D'Or, which is beautiful, as well as Cala de Pou, a real hidden gem. One tip: don't rely on the Cala D'Or taxi service when you're out and about, they'll tell you a taxi is on its way, but it never turns up. Book taxis directly through the hotel instead. Our little nephew (nearly 3) absolutely loved the children's pool and practically lived there. The hotel also has shops, a café, three or four restaurants, several bars, and even padel courts you can have a go at. Overall, a wonderful stay and one I'd highly recommend for families. If you're adults after a quieter, more relaxed break, this might not be the best fit — there are plenty of families here, so children (and the occasional bit of noise) are part of the package

I had a destress massage at the Spa with Lillian and it was amazing!! Highly recommend if you are looking to unwind and relax into your holiday.

We had a lovely family holiday at Iberostar Waves Club Cala Barca and would definitely come back. The hotel has a great family atmosphere, beautiful surroundings and so much for children to do. Our four year old absolutely loved it! We arrived at around 3am after our flight was cancelled and still received a very warm welcome. We initially stayed in block 55 but had an issue with the shower flooding the bathroom. Reception were very helpful and moved us to block 56, which was much better. The rooms could do with some updating, particularly the air conditioning, but overall ours was comfortable and had everything we needed. The bathroom in block 56 seemed newer and the shower was excellent. The pools, playgrounds and children's activities were brilliant, and the entertainment was probably the best we've experienced at a family resort. Even on our one rainy day there were plenty of activities going on. The hotel was busy, but never felt uncomfortably crowded and we had no issues finding sunbeds or with queues at the restaurants. Food and drinks were very good with plenty of choice. We also had dinner at the beach restaurant and really enjoyed the experience and the view. The ice cream place was a huge hit with all three of us and became a daily stop! The supermarket and shops on site were also much better stocked than we expected. We loved the little area where guests leave pool toys and inflatables for other families to reuse, our son picked something different almost every day. The hotel beach has lovely clear water and little fish, although water shoes are useful because of some stones. We also walked to Cala Mondragó (around 25–30 minutes with our four year old), which was absolutely beautiful and well worth it. The hotel was very clean and housekeeping were fantastic. A huge thank you to everyone who works so hard to make the experience so special. The restaurant team were wonderful, and Dani and the whole entertainment team were absolutely amazing - you can really see how much effort they put into everything they do. A special thank you as well to Pani and especially Andreu, who was incredibly helpful throughout our stay. We had a fantastic week and made some lovely family memories. There are a few things that could be updated, but they wouldn't stop us from returning. The fact that we're already talking about coming back probably says it all :)

This hotel is not suited to adult travellers at all. It is comparable to Butlins in the sun catering for families with children 6 months to 3 years old. Hundreds of pushchairs and screaming babies and young kids. I have seriously never ever encountered anything like it. This is not your regular Iberostar Hotel in any shape or form. Rooms are dated and worn out. Pool areas are dirty with bird poo and tree debris. Basically it is an array of different apartments situated over a vast area, some of which are miles away from the central dining area. One of the pools in the 40’s block is shaded by trees most of the day which is a waste of time as you have to keep moving areas. The dining room is equivalent to feeding time at the zoo….. totally unbelievable !!! The noise, the chaos , the pushchairs blocking the isles and kids wandering around. The soft drinks machines not working intermittently …. I have never encountered anything like it. The absolutely worst thing is the amount of steep stairs that you need to climb, everywhere is stairs !!!!! I joked with others about how you would go on with having only one leg!!!! The whole place is just one great big kindergarten not suited to couples or adult groups at all. A very expensive mistake.
