Viva Cala Mesquida Resort & Spa

Another fantastic trip for our family. Staff just make the hotel even better. Claudia on reception is so kind and helpful. Antonio and Elena from the kids animation team are wonderful. They always stop and say hello to our children, they are too young for kids club but always have time for them. There are so many activities and things to do around the hotel for kids. Food is great and varied each night. One small issue was resolved very quickly. We can't wait to come back again.

We had to cancel a non-refundable VIVA booking because our child developed chickenpox. Following the cancellation, Hotels VIVA sent us by email a gift card worth €1,112.02, approximately one third of what we had originally paid, which could be used for another VIVA stay in Mallorca. We subsequently made a new booking through VIVA's website. We entered the gift-card code, VIVA's system accepted it and deducted €1,112.02 from the price. We then received a confirmed booking which explicitly showed the gift card deduction, described the €1,112.02 as a previous deposit, and stated the remaining balance to be paid. This was important to us: we booked VIVA again because we had this gift card. At the last-minute full price, we would have chosen differently. At check-in there was no issue whatsoever. The hotel accepted the reservation and we were asked to pay only the remaining balance shown on our confirmation, which we did. Then, one day before checkout, we were unexpectedly contacted by the hotel and told that the gift card was supposedly invalid and that we had to pay the difference up to the full price. We clearly disputed this and asked the hotel to put its claim in writing. Instead, after we had left the hotel, VIVA charged €1,112.02 to the debit card we had used during the stay — exactly the amount of the gift card that their own system had previously accepted and their booking confirmation had recorded as a deposit. Several weeks later, VIVA finally replied — claiming that “no gift voucher was issued” to us. That is directly contradicted by the gift-card email sent by Hotels VIVA and by their own booking confirmation showing the €1,112.02 voucher applied as a deposit. We are now disputing the charge through our bank. What concerns us most is the issue of trust. VIVA issued the voucher, accepted it through its own booking system, confirmed the resulting price in writing, accepted the remaining balance at check-in — and then later charged our card anyway without our approval. For any guest, that raises an obvious concern: can you rely on the price confirmed at booking, or could you be charged additional amounts afterwards? Based on our experience, we would not book with VIVA again.

The location is definitely the only thing that makes this resort worthwhile. The breakfast options were fine. This resort is not for families traveling with teens. There seems to be a lot of activities aimed for children 12 and under. Lots of families with young kids and the pools are pretty much run by children 12 and under. Our first impression was not great. We arrived at the resort around 7 pm tired and hungry. We were told that if we wanted to eat dinner at one of their restaurants, we needed to have made reservations the night before and that the front desk does not handle restaurant reservations. The concierge nearby would handle reservations but would not be there until 9 the next morning. There was zero effort from the front desk to call their own restaurants and see if there was any way we can eat. On our way to our room, there was a foul smell in the hallway and just when we thought it couldn't get worst, we entered our room and it was very hot (the AC and fan had been turned off). We then noticed the bedroom door couldn't close, and the safety deposit box didn't work. As tired as we were, we made our way back to the reception and informed them of this and they sent a repair person the next day. I just don't understand why these repairs couldn't be made prior to our arrival. Every time we had a question for the front desk, we were told to scan a QR code. While on vacation, one thing we do not want to have to do is look at our phone every time we have a question. One plus is that it has parking.

This hotel has been a great stay for me. I have enjoyed the food and the staff are friendly. The services overall have been great. This holiday is better by the fact they are so close to the beach. The only thing I would say is I wish they did more shooting (archery, air rifle) as they do this more at the other viva, but would highly recommend this place as facilities are great.

I’ll start with the cons Like a million kids with no supervision. The food was the worst (all Inc) I ever had even though there was many options, the chaos in the resturang made it even worse. The pools where overcrowded and small 18+ section was not respected Too far away from the airport and town. A la carte was not good at all. The good things were Recomend the more expensive rooms they were great. The view from the hotel was nice. The beach was great. Drinks were good. Staff was really friendly. We also got food poisioning So I recomend you book in Palma or Alcudia instead.
