Hikka Tranz by Cinnamon

We chose this hotel for its beachside location ,and to use as a base for exploring within a 2 to 3 hour radius to the hotel.we couldnt fault the location.all of the rooms seem to have fantastic sea views.we found the food on offer to be acceptable and always found food a decent choice of food..we also enjoyed a few afternoon meals, which were from a set menu, rather than the usual buffet.Yes the hotel needs maintenance in places,but the hotel staff more than make up for this.throughout the hotel you can see genuine warmth in the way you are greeted by smiling faces.thank you to all...security guards ,restaurant ,pool bar ,and tropic bar,reception and front of hotel team. all very hard working people. It is very hard to single out any one member of staff.however a special thank you to Prasad (tropical bar) for introducing us to "Arrack"and looking after us with our drinks during our stay. Moraj for his magical towel displays! And a big thank you to the young man with smiling face who seemed to every where we looked, from pool bar to tropical bar and restaurant. Also Renate and the other ladies checking us in to the restaurant, especially during busy periods!

Viraj at the pool restaurant really nice, next time I will chose this hotel for the team ravesha lasan kumaya kanaka nilanke.

Bearing in mind this was our longest stay at a hotel in Sri Lanka after travelling the country for 10 days we had high hopes our other hotels had been 5 star. Sadly the hotel was tired, needed some major updating particularly in the bedrooms which we found was dirty( fridge and bathroom) this was old dirt that wasn’t in need of cleaning ( the cleaner assigned to our room was great) but the tiling was broken, the floor cracked , the mirror was old , the air conditioning was old and caused water deposits meaning we also had to have a dehumidifier in the room. Some of the towels were stained, and bed sheets too. The restaurant personnel were great , especially the older gentleman server. The food was ok and we were able to find food we ate but a lot of the food was of a low temperature, or bland especially the desserts they looked amazing but tasted less so. The pool area was good, the pool guy / towels were great. The constant attack by chipmunks and crows was annoying . The beach was good but the sea was rough so not swim able during our stay. A turtle was at the beach though which was nice but the local there feeding them goes against the ecological interests of the animals. The need to wear very unsticky wristbands was annoying as we had to get new ones every day as they came off in the shower/pool. Maybe these need to be harder wearing especially for those who had a longer stay. The outside area of the room was unused as it directly overlooked the one below, so not very private, also the area was quickly wet due to the weather. The sofa and cushions in the room were stained and obviously not clean so this needs addressing. The staff were very pleasant none of this is their fault but the hotel needs some investment to bring it up to the star rating it should be, as currently it’s a 3 star not a 5 star.

Some places are remembered for their beautiful location, but Hikka Tranz by Cinnamon will be remembered by us for its people, hospitality and the exceptional care given to our guests. ❤️ A huge thank you to the entire Hikka Tranz Hikkaduwa team for helping us make our group experience so smooth, comfortable and memorable.
