Kata Palm Resort Spa

I really wanted to like this resort better. From the pictures and our first impression, it seemed very nice, some traditional Thai style mixed with modern, several pools and restaurant options, and modern amenities like a nice gym. But after staying for some days, I felt a bit let down by this resort. Gym equipment could have been better maintained, restaurants were only open one at a time, wi-fi was spotty... However, our biggest regret was the food. Both for breakfast and lunch there was a good selection of food, but that does not help when everything was completely bland and uninteresting. Drinks selection for breakfast was also made purely from cheap concentrate and did not taste very good. Service was always excellent, though, which made up for some of the disappointment! Staff was incredibly helpful and attentive on every encounter, and housekeeping did a great job keeping the place neat, tidy and clean! :-) All in all, Kata Palm was not a bad place to stay. Centrally located, quiet and with great staff. I still feel like things easily could have been a lot more satisfying for us, and Kata Palm can easily take steps to improve.

Arrived at the hotel on the 11th September which was my birthday that day but the welcome was very professional and polite and check in was quick. During my two weeks there I have found the hotel to be perfect as had a view of the pool and gardens but there is a swim up rooms but unsure on price. But everyone made you feel welcome on arrival and leaving tomorrow so it was a beautiful experience there and would come again as the area as lots to offer.

We had such a lovely time staying at the kata palm. The pool was lovely, staff were great and super friendly and location was very good. I saw previous reviews of the breakfast but I thought there was a good choice and thoroughly enjoyed it. Because I’m as tight as a ducks backside we stayed in the cheaper rooms which were a bit of a walk, next time we might pay for the better rooms but I can’t complain. I definitely would go back, we genuinely had the best time.

Stayed for a week during low season. Staff are very friendly and the rooms were comfortable with good quality air conditioning which is a must. Rooms serviced daily, good quality shower with toiletry supplied by the hotel. Breakfast is basic but adequate. Pools are nicely kept always a great temperature. Great location for exploring Kata, everything is in walking distance. Kata night market (to the left as you walk out of the hotel) is great for food as is Kata walking market (turn right out of hotel, heading towards Karon Beach) is also a must visit. We booked out excursions with the lady near reception and booked our taxis from there too. All very reasonable in price with great friendly service.

I do not recommend this hotel, especially for families staying more than a couple of nights. We are a family of five with three children, and the room is extremely small. We are literally on top of each other. There is no balcony or terrace, which is a huge inconvenience after coming back from the beach. We have sand everywhere in the room because there is nowhere to dry towels or leave our beach items. What is even more shocking is the complete lack of storage. There is no wardrobe, no closet, and no dressing area at all. For a family of five staying for more than 10 days, this is completely unacceptable. We have had to keep all of our suitcases open because there is nowhere to unpack our clothes. There is only a small recessed space in the wall for the suitcases, but no shelves, no drawers, and no hanging space. As a result, our belongings are scattered all over the floor, making the room feel even smaller and more uncomfortable. The room smells musty and damp, and the air conditioning is incredibly noisy. It makes a terrible sound all night, making it very difficult to sleep. The photos on the website do not reflect reality at all. We were very disappointed when we arrived. The breakfast is honestly one of the worst we have ever had. The food is not appetizing, and even our children, who are usually not picky eaters, refuse to eat it. The fruit is served warm because there is no air conditioning in the restaurant, which makes breakfast very unpleasant. The only positive point is that the staff are kind and polite. Unfortunately, their friendliness cannot make up for the poor accommodation. Another downside is that the hotel is far from most activities, making every trip longer than expected. If you are staying for one or two nights, it might be acceptable. However, we are here for more than 10 days, and our holiday has started in the worst possible way. I honestly don’t know how we are going to get through the rest of our stay.
