JAZ Elite Aurora Beach

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We had a fantastic stay at JAZ Elite Aurora Zanzibar. The staff were outstanding and always willing to help. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and their friendliness created a wonderful atmosphere throughout the resort. A special thanks to Issa for the delicious cocktails! The hotel offers several great dining options, with the Pili Pili Sushi Restaurant, Grill Restaurant, and Breeze Restaurant being our favorites for both lunch and dinner. Zanzibar and Tanzania were a pleasant surprise, offering a rich culture, beautiful landscapes, and friendly people. Our safari to Mikumi National Park was definitely one of the highlights of the trip. Overall, an unforgettable holiday and a hotel we would highly recommend to anyone visiting Zanzibar. We hope to return one day! 🌴☀️🍹

An amazing experience! We arrived very early in the morning and were greeted with such kindness and help immediately. We were unable to book our restaurants, but Shine at reception was great and booked them for us. The pools were always clean and tidy, drinks were all good (although service could be a little slow at times). The rooms and hotel overall are decorated beautifully! We didn't have the most interactive experience at Tepenyaki, and they charge an additional $70 USD per person for the dinner. However, we did complain and they removed it completely from our final bill. Overall, we absolutely loved it and would love to go back!

Overall, we had a very enjoyable and relaxing holiday at JAZ Elite Aurora Zanzibar. The hotel itself is beautiful, modern, luxurious, and equipped with all the facilities and services you would expect from a high-end resort. The rooms are spacious, the resort is well maintained, and the overall atmosphere is pleasant and welcoming. We truly appreciated the effort that has been put into creating a comfortable and enjoyable guest experience. However, despite the many positive aspects of our stay, there are several points that prevented us from giving a higher rating and that we believe deserve attention from management. First of all, the staff is generally very friendly, cheerful, and enthusiastic. They work hard and often greet guests with a smile. Unfortunately, it became increasingly apparent during our stay that the level of service seemed to be heavily influenced by the amount of tips being given. While tipping is common and appreciated, it sometimes felt as though guests who tipped more frequently received significantly better and faster service. In some situations, the expectation of tips became quite noticeable and even somewhat uncomfortable. A few employees could be rather persistent or intrusive in this regard, which is not what we would expect from a luxury resort experience. We also experienced some shortcomings regarding housekeeping. On several occasions, items in the room were not properly replenished. Towels were missing more than once, and we occasionally had to contact housekeeping to receive basic items that should have been provided automatically. While these issues were eventually resolved, they should not occur repeatedly in a hotel of this category. Another issue concerned the maintenance of the room. The shower drain was not functioning properly, causing water to collect and remain on the bathroom floor during and after showering. Although we reported the problem and the staff did take action, the response time was rather slow and required some patience before an effective solution was provided. Finally, the location of the hotel is, in our opinion, one of its largest disadvantages. While the beachfront setting is beautiful and peaceful, the hotel is situated quite far from most attractions, restaurants, shops, and points of interest on Zanzibar. As a result, almost every excursion requires a taxi ride, often over roads that are in poor condition. Guests who enjoy exploring the island independently should take this into consideration when booking their stay. Despite these points, we genuinely enjoyed our vacation and created wonderful memories at JAZ Elite Aurora. The hotel has many strengths, including its beautiful design, excellent facilities, and friendly atmosphere. With improvements in service consistency, housekeeping standards, maintenance response times, and guest experience regarding tipping, this resort could become truly exceptional. Final verdict: A beautiful and luxurious resort where we had a great holiday, but one that still has room for improvement in terms of service consistency, room maintenance, and accessibility to the rest of Zanzibar. Overall, a good experience, but not quite the five-star experience we expected.
