Riu Palace Zanzibar

We had such a wonderful stay at this hotel in Zanzibar. From the moment we arrived, we felt genuinely welcomed and taken care of. The rooms were beautiful, clean and comfortable, and the whole place had such a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. A special mention to Roni, who truly made our stay even more special. He is such a kind, friendly and attentive person, always smiling and making sure everything was perfect for us. You can really feel that he cares about the guests and takes pride in what he does. Meeting people like Roni is definitely one of the things that makes a trip unforgettable. Overall, a beautiful place, amazing hospitality and a very warm atmosphere. We would happily come back and highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Zanzibar!

We had an absolutely fantastic stay at RIU Palace Zanzibar. As a wonderful surprise, we were given a complimentary upgrade to an oceanfront suite, and it was absolutely beautiful. Waking up to the stunning ocean views each morning made our vacation even more special. The resort itself is gorgeous, well maintained, and set on one of the most beautiful stretches of beach we've ever seen. The buffet exceeded our expectations, with a wide variety of delicious, fresh dishes every day. Even when we dined there multiple times, there was always something new and enjoyable to try. What truly made our stay memorable was the staff. Every member of the team was warm, friendly, and attentive, always greeting us with a smile and going out of their way to ensure we had a great experience. Our only disappointment was the restaurant reservation system. Specialty restaurants must be booked through the app, and reservations were consistently unavailable. This was frustrating, especially since the restaurants often appeared to have many empty tables when we walked by in the evenings. That said, this was a minor issue in an otherwise exceptional stay. Between the beautiful accommodations, incredible views, excellent food, and outstanding service, we thoroughly enjoyed our time at RIU Palace Zanzibar and would happily recommend it to anyone visiting Zanzibar. We would love to return someday!

First time in Zanzibar, we picked this hotel due to its location on a beautiful beach . The location and sea views were fantastic, with a number of pools and lots of sunbeds , many overlooking the beach and sea from cliff top location. The hotels grounds are extremely well looked after and very clean , built on a slope there is a bit of walking up hill from the pools and restaurants back to your room but easily managed . There were 3 al a carte restaurants which were all very good , the main buffet has lots of different options but can get quite busy at times and sometimes feels a bit crowded due to its size . We only had one issue when there with room service not getting our order even though the app showed submitted and accepted. The reception when contacted could not really explain why this happened. The reception staff were a little hit and miss with our best experience with a male member who sorted out anything we had a problem with . If I had to pick an issue , it would be that this is the first hotel we have been to that does not have a bar in the reception area , only at the pool area , the hotel would Benifit from a small bar area for people eating for pick ups and other excursions, if not this then a fridge with soft drinks and water in would be a plus . Overall we had a very good stay .

We stayed 7 nights at Riu Palace Zanzibar and had a wonderful experience — beautiful grounds, great food, and genuinely caring staff, with daily details in our room. Special thanks to Isaac, who went out of his way to sort out a room upgrade after our initial placement wasn’t great, making our honeymoon feel truly special. Through no fault of the hotel, our travel agency (Into Africa, Chile) failed to flag our booking as a honeymoon, so we initially missed the usual greetings and/or upgrade — Isaac fixed that for us. The one drawback, common to this stretch of Nungwi beach, is the constant presence of Maasai vendors and acrobats with speakers along the shore. Most aren’t traditional herders but locals adopting the look for tourists — a known pattern in this part of Zanzibar. Despite that, our stay was excellent and remarkable.
