Das Alpenhaus Gasteinertal

The positives - location was good, rooms were big and nice, the breakfast was excellent. The negatives - the balcony door was not working properly and the staff could not fix it (my teenage son could...), the pillows were uncomfortable (4 really thin ones and 1 which might have fitted 4 of them together), the half-board dinner was meh (cheap shop quality), the spa was not as expected (the sauna area is naked and not for under 18s???). The worst was the attitude of the staff - the first answer to everything was "NO".

Here for a short skiing holiday. The hotel is in a fantastic position close to the old town and 5 minutes walk from the ski lift. Hotel is very well maintained and the communal areas are very clean and luxurious. The rooms are well proportioned and well decorated. We are here on a half board basis and the breakfast is fantastic with a great choice and the evening meals are served to a very high standard. The hotel has a great swimming pool and spa which was a very nice surprise. Staff are also very friendly and helpful as well so would not hesitate in staying here again. Very much recommend you consider should you be visiting the area.

It is a very nice hotel, with nice staff and in an excellent location. Cable car, local thermal bath, old town, city park are just in a few minute walk distance. We were on half board and food - especially dinner - was outstanding! All 3 dinners were amaizing for both of us, as we had different choices each night. Highly recommended, beyond expectation.

I've been here many times when it was the 5-star Grand Park Hotel, prior to April 2016. The building is the same, the rooms are still clean and the spa remains excellent. The service obviously isn't quite as good as it used to be, having dropped a star but is still perfectly acceptable. The main change, and unfortunately disappointment, is the restaurant. The Grand Park restaurant, run by Jatin, really was a particular delight and the new hotel doesn't hold a candle to it.

We were absolutely delighted with our stay at this elegant , yet homy hotel which is so conveniently located at walking distance from the Alpenthermen Bad Hof Gastein. From the moment we entered , we felt so welcome by a very friendly and helpful recepcionist who greeted us with all the necessary information to make the most out of our stay. Our spacious and comfortable room and bathroom were tidy and clean and the view from our balcony was breath taking . We were provided with bathrobes and a bag with fresh towels to use them for the Spa Área on the ground floor . What a pleasant surprise it was ! Not only does it have a nice big pool, but the Sauna area is even better than the one at the Alpenthermen , since it offers a wide range of Sauna experience in an elegant setting. Breakfast and Dinner at the Restaurant is a real treat to the palate , surprising guests with creative dishes presented with the Austrian flair and hospitality. Juan Bauer
