We had a fantastic time at Hotel Theresia. The staff were incredibly accommodating of our twin babies and toddler, making our holiday as relaxing as it could be. The hotel has a real personal touch and nothing was too much trouble. We were kindly given a large suite which was incredibly spacious and so useful with our various offspring. The food is fantastic and we particularly appreciated the serve yourself ice cream cart and bar area. The setting is beautiful - gorgeous mountain views from our window and a lovely garden/pool area with sandpit and playground. The kids club area is well equipped for children of all ages. It’s a scenic half hour walk along the river or short bus journey to Saalbach for access to additional cable cars, or a 15 minute walk into Hinterglemm. We loved the play park/splash park area just 5 minutes walk from the hotel. We had a fantastic time and would love to come back.

The Familien & Gartenhotel Theresia is located about 90 minutes from Salzburg airport, between Saalbach and Hinterglemm. There is a bus stop just outside the hotel, though the village of Hinterglemm is just a five minute walk from the hotel. Despite being located on the main road through the valley there was never any noise disturbance. Everything is made very easy at the hotel. The all-inclusive is a huge plus, particularly the lunchtime buffet, which conveniently revives weary hikers after a morning in the mountains. The quality of all meals is superb, with a huge choice from the breakfast buffet, as mentioned, lunch offered a choice of a couple of hot self service options, along with soup and something sweet for later with a coffee or tea. The evening meal was waiter service, based on the menu options you had chosen at breakfast. There were always two options for starters (along with soup and the salad bar) and three options for the main meal (generally a meat dish, fish and a vegetarian option). The majority of drinks were included in the 'all inclusive' package but should you choose something not included, this was offered at a discount. However, there is a huge range of options of wines and beers, we sampled many during our stay. The hotel is family run and during our stay, the clientele was predominantly young families. By 8.30 pm, the restaurant was generally empty. Many families had moved to the very comfortable lounge to enjoy a leisurely evening with some children using the children's lounge on the lower level. All the staff were warm and friendly, from Anna Maria and the team at reception to Christian and his colleagues in the restaurant. The proprietor welcomes all new arrivals and stresses that if there was anything extra that we needed to let her or her team know. We had no need to test this, as everything was perfect. We stayed in a family room with balcony, shared with our teen. The room was decorated in a 'rustic' style with views of the mountains beyond. Everything was clean and in good working order. All the beds were very comfortable, we slept very well. We would definitely consider visiting again as everything was so easy. The Mobility card scheme, which the hotel participates in, offers free public transport throughout the region, which is a huge bonus. We travelled to Salzburg (90 minutes away) completely free! The Joker card offers unlimited travel on the cable cars in the valley and discounted options on other local attractions. We had a very enjoyable and relaxing holiday and despite staying during the only rainy week in the entire summer, we still found lots to do and enjoy, thanks to the team at the Familien & Gartenhotel Theresia

We stayed for 8 nights in this hotel. It's a really great concept and would definitely recommend it. Firstly the food was extremely good, healthy and beautifully presented. This is a rare compliment from me - we live in London and tend to go to the best London restaurants (not necessarily the most expensive ones but ones that are highly rated), so I'm rarely impressed with all inclusive offerings. But I was here. Great for me as a pescatarian too - there was always a vegetarian option and fish was served a few times during the week too. Breakfast had really good options, I enjoyed the fresh croissants and fruit, and my kids loved the pancakes. Lunch was a buffet with a couple of cooked dishes, salads and desserts - it served us perfectly well although as Brits we would have preferred materials to make sandwiches with (bread, cheese, boiled eggs, ham etc) and fresh fruit. Dinner was excellent - most nights it was a 3 course meal (plus soup and salad if wanted) with 2 or 3 choices for each course. There were also child friendly options like fish fingers and chips, and pasta. 2 nights during our stay dinner was a buffet (one a BBQ) with a fantastic variety of food. The desserts available for the buffet nights were amazing - fresh macarons, tiramisu, profiteroles etc. My partner loved the open bar and being able to pour himself a beer, I liked the included wine. Kids loved the drinks machines and the ice cream truck for lunch and dinner, especially with the extra toppings offered at dinner time (marshmallows, sprinkles, sauces, cream etc). Our room was excellent - spacious, clean and with plenty of storage, a separate room for the kids, separate toilet and a mini fridge. Beds were very comfortable. We had a lovely balcony with an amazing view of the mountain and stream, and very usefully it had a small fold out airer for drying clothes/swimwear etc. A very nice touch! The basement with kids club/playroom and other things for kids to do (ping pong, table football, games consoles etc) was very popular with our kids after dinner or on rainy days. They also enjoyed some of the kids club activities (jewellery making in particular). The restaurant also had colouring for the kids and the reception area had board games. Oh and the kids loved the cuddly toys given to them on arrival. Heated swimming pools were lovely, especially the outdoor one when warm and sunny. Dragonflies and butterflies frequent the outdoor pool, it was so beautiful. I loved the days when we went out and then hung out by the pool from mid afternoon onwards (sadly not every day due the the weather, but we expected that!). My kids also loved the trampoline in the garden. The only improvement would be to have a warmer hot tub or a separate hot one for adults only (I think there is a hot tub for adults but it's in a no-clothes zone!). The hotel is very close to the bus stop.and you can also walk to Hinterglemm in about 5-10 minutes where there is an amazing playground, we went there after dinner for a few nights when it was dry. Next to the playground is a cafe selling beer and a great looking mini golf. Generally there is so much for kids to do; lovely hikes, cable cars, and playgrounds. It was our first holiday like this (we usually do city breaks or beach/pool holidays with some days out mixed in) and we loved it. Weather was mostly kind to us although we had a few rainy spells. Fortunately we managed to get out every day, and found lots to do at the hotel when it did rain. Kapt Hook water park was also fun for a few hours. Buses were pretty reliable although usually 5-10 min behind schedule and often pretty full. But we always managed to get on. We used them most days, at no charge due to the Salzburg mobility card. There's really no need for a car when staying here. We travelled to the hotel by train (Salzburg to Zell am See), completely free thanks to the mobility card and the hotel organised a free return taxi for us due to the length of our stay. Great value for money due to the Joker card, mobility card and all inclusive food and drink. We only spent money on a few activities out and some lunches when hiking. Finally the staff and owners were exceptionally kind and helpful. Pawel served us most days in the restaurant and the owners even lent us a rain jacket after my partner thought he had forgotten his. Anything we asked for was done quickly and without any misunderstanding or error. Thank you for a lovely stay!
