Hotel Saalbacher Hof

Our fifth visit to this hotel. The location is ideal, close to lifts and buses, all free with the joker card. Our room was lovely, this time we had a room with a balcony. The staff are very welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. The hotel and grounds are well looked after and the outdoor pool and gardens are ideal. There is a good selection of food at breakfast and for the evening meal, the main course was occasionally innovative and included 5 courses. The guest mobility card gives you free transport throughout the region. We went to Salzburg in the train where the buses were also free. Lots of amazing walks and also free guided walks by the tourist office. We're definitely returning next year.

We have just spent a week here and cannot fault the place. Firstly, the location is second to none. It's right in the centre of town, surrounded by bars and restaurants, and less than a 2 minute walk to one cable car station, while the other is about a 4 minute walk. The Kaptn Hook water park is 5-10 minute walk. Despite being so centrally located, when you are up in the roof garden, you feel as though you are in the middle of the countryside. It's so peaceful and beautifully kept. The pool is not huge but was rarely busy, and nice for a dip after a day's hiking. The room was great. We had a junior suite on the 3rd floor with a view of the church and the mountains. The bed is spacious and comfortable. Water pressure in the shower was brilliant. Room was kept lovely and clean. Bathrobes, towels and pool towels are all provided. We'd seen mixed reviews about the food so we were apprehensive but we needn't have been. It was excellent every day, really high-end, and there was always a choice of main (meat, fish or veggie). Our 12-year-old son ate from the adult menu but he is quite adventurous. Not sure all kids would go for it but there is a children's menu too. Breakfast was great too, extensive selection including bacon, eggs etc, omelette station, fresh fruit, pastries. I thought the coffee was good too. Service from all the staff was prompt and friendly but I must highlight Mario Jr who looked after us so well all week. Thank you Mario! The Joker card that you get with your stay is worth its weight in gold! Free unlimited use of the cable cars, public transport, access to the water park (which is brilliant) and lots of other attractions too. I can't recommend this hotel highly enough. We have had the most amazing time and can't wait to come back next year. If you are considering booking this hotel, do it!

We have just returned from a very enjoyable, and energetic, weeks holiday in the beautiful village of Saalbach staying at the Saalbacher Hof Hotel. The hotel is in an excellent location situated in the centre of the village with just a short walk to both lifts and the bus stop to other lifts in the valley. The staff are friendly and professional with nothing too much trouble. The whole hotel is spotlessly clean, the pool and pool area well maintained as are the rooms which are fairly well equipped. The meals are tasty and well presented and in some cases quite ‘innovative’ although the choice is quite limited, insomuch as only one meat, one fish and one vegetarian option, no options on starters, soup or desert and they are definitely, in the majority of cases, very small portions, especially the soup, barely a couple of spoonfuls. The breakfast was ok, a reasonable choice available but the ‘egg’ station was at times frustrating, being told to come back in ten minutes, was in our option not acceptable. We chose a ‘superior’ double room but although it was ample, size wise, it didn’t have a ‘view’ as we just looked out on a ‘green’ wall. It seems that you might need to book a suite for anything with a view!! The major plus with the holiday was the ‘joker’ card which most hotels in Saalbach offer, and which gives you unlimited rides on the lifts, free local and regional transport on buses and trains. Amazing value!! We enjoyed our stay both in the hotel and the Saalbach area but next time we would certainly choose, perhaps, a more traditional Austrian style hotel with more ‘normal’ dining options.

We stayed for a week at this hotel and absolutely loved it!! The vibe of the hotel has such a great atmosphere, the motto of the hotel is to celebrate life and we sure did!! We were also lucky enough to stay when a band from Sweden were playing there which only made the vibe even better! The views from the hotel are amazing and the hotel is in a great location for easy access to the mountains and bus stop ect. The food was delicious and such good quality, special mention to Aris who was such a lovely waiter. We stayed in room 701 which overlooked the pool and the views were incredible!! Thank you to Isabella and her team for an incredible stay, we were sad to leave!! Would love to stay here again! 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟

Our first stay in Saalbach and Saalbacher Hof is in a perfect location to access all local amenities including public transport and lifts. The greeting was warm and friendly and the staff throughout were helpful and a credit to the hotel. The room (a family suite) was a great size and very comfortable. Being at the back of the hotel meant it was quiet - with the exception of movie night by the pool which we were just underneath. This meant we had to close the windows on a very hot night albeit the glazing is excellent for blocking the noise. Everything was clean and well presented, with comfortable beds. The rooftop pool and gardens was a perfect place to relax, we didn't use the spa facilities but feedback from others was very positive and it looked lovely. We enjoyed the bar area and outside terrace with live music and world cup games shown, so a good atmosphere. Breakfast options were good, always fresh and well stocked giving a great start to the day. Unfortunately the evening meals, in our opinion, took the edge off the experience. As with other Austrian hotels we've stayed in, you choose in the morning, and on some days, the menu was not to our taste. The salad bar is great but then only one starter and one soup available each day and only one meat, one fish or one vegetarian main course option so choice was limited and flavour combinations a little experimental at times. Having chosen fish the first 2 nights, both times poorly cooked, it was a relief to have a BBQ treat on the 3rd night. My 17 year old daughter ended up ordering from the children's menu - it would be good if the adults could also choose a basic pasta or schnitzel dish without an additional €20 charge. Knowing you are coming to dinner to a meal you are not looking forward to is disappointing. We are not fussy eaters, but did struggle often to enjoy the food. That said, service was great, we have to mention Evangelos and Theoni who looked after us so well. Overall, we had a great stay. Would we stay again? Because food is a big part of our holiday it would be a no. If we knew we could try new things but have the option of a more 'normal' main course where nothing met our taste, we would definitely consider returning.
