Kapetanios Bay Hotel

Had a great stay at this hotel, despite our first impressions. Arrived early morning to loud music coming from the nearby bars which our room faced (a friend had recommended the hotel and I now questioned his judgement). Having got over the travelling and first night impressions things improved no end. Close the balcony doors and the music while audible didn’t trouble us. We stayed on a B & B basis, breakfast buffet both hot & cold food was more than adequate - just don’t expect fine dining. Room had everything you need - fridge, safe, air conditioning, tv etc and was serviced daily. Decent pool area, plenty of sunbeds. Some reviews say you have to be up at the crack of dawn to get sunbeds especially at weekends, we didn’t find that to be the case there were always plenty of sunbeds, they may not have been where you preferred to be but that’s always the case no matter where you stay. Some reviews I read criticise the pool area for being full of ‘locals’ on a weekend. It’s true to say there were quite a lot of Cypriots down by the pool at the weekend but they were paying guests not people who had walked in off the street - It may come as a surprise to some but Cypriots do take holidays and short breaks at the seaside just as us Brits do in the UK. Towels for use by the pool can be obtained from reception but you have to leave a deposit of €10 per towel which is refunded when you return the towel. Cabanas are available at the pool and cost €50 a day you have to book them the day before. We seemed to be the only people who used them and wonder if people know that when you hire a Cabana the money you pay (€50) is in fact a credit to spend on food and drink from the pool bar. We had no problem spending this amount and more over a day down by the pool eating and drinking in comfort. Food from the pool bar is good but the portions are very large - I wouldn’t advise buying starters or sides unless you have a huge appetite you won’t be able to finish the meal. All in all a nice hotel with pleasant friendly staff. There is nothing flash but the hotel is very good value for money close to a lot of nice bars and restaurants and the more noisy nightlife. Something for everyone

Fantastic location lovely hotel the only thing that lets the rooms down are baths with shower over them… rooms cleaned daily and towels, bedding changed regularly.. sunbeds very comfortable poolside bar nice lovely snacks and very friendly staff.. ok there is noise at night from other bars music but we were out till midnight most nights so didn’t bother us… restaurant nice and clean and breakfast very repetitive every day but we always had something… definitely stay again

Kapetanios Bay Hotel – Protaras – Cyprus – Holiday 2026 Review Well, we returned from our third holiday at the Kapetanios Bay Hotel in Protaras, Cyprus recently and what can I say? The hotel, the staff, the facilities and the resort we're just simply fantastic once again and we just couldn't ask for any more than we received. We stayed in the same room and on the same basis, bed & breakfast and reserved the same cabana double sun lounger bed for the whole 2 weeks. Our first main greeting when we arrived in the early hours of the morning was from young Robbie. A lovely, quite shy and reserved young man with a gentle manner who never fails to be polite and show much respect. Each morning, the breakfast we had was terrific and with such a large range of options to choose from, we could not have got better anywhere else! As for lunch, we had all our lunches in the hotel and once again, were very, very good! What was also lovely was to be served by the most fantastic staff. During our first morning as we went by the poolside after breakfast, we were greeted by our great friend Vijay, who welcomed us with the infamous open arms and a ‘GREAT BIG HUG’. Something about this dear chap that is so warming, endearing and friendly and he comes complete with his cheeky, boyish grin/smile. Throughout our holiday, he looked after all our needs whenever he could and is clearly a person who is hugely liked by many and was always ‘on the ball’ in doing his job. What a huge credit to the Kapetanios Bay Hotel! This was also quickly followed with the same warming and so friendly ‘GREAT BIG HUG’ from our great friend Xenakis. Another fantastic young man with an intriguing, charismatic personality who looked after us both amazingly and may I say, a person who makes fantastic cocktails at the poolside bar … Tom Cruise eat your heart out! As for the rest of the staff …. Just simply amazing! We saw many of the same staff as in the previous years, as well as a couple of newcomers and the welcome we received was outstanding from all. It just simply amazes me how genuinely friendly and warming these people are. It wasn’t just a handshake on our welcome … it was a GREAT BIG HUG with huge amounts of warmth and caring thrown in. Many people may say, “Oh, it’s part of their job to do that”, but no, these folk are natural and genuine with it. You may also think that the owners of these big hotels would be different and be more reserved than the rest …. WRONG! … can I say that this is so far away from the truth at the Kapetanios Bay Hotel. Both Mavrakis and Costandinos were brilliant and again, so warming and with those GREAT BIG HUGS when they greeted us … Fantastic! Including people I’ve already spoken about, I would also like to mention the whole staff names that I am aware of and those that I am not, who were great and looked after all our needs whenever they could and for me to express our appreciation and big thankyou’s to them all: Hotel Owners: Mavrakis and Costantinos (Two successful, astute, very charming and lovely men who are very easy to communicate with and show such warmth and interest in all conversations I had with them) Pool Bar: Xenakis, Kyriakos, Carolis and Vijay (What a superb team!) Carolis was a new member to the team and was terrific and made some awesome cocktails! Restaurant/Breakfast: Tomys, Monica (New member who had a lovely, confident approach with people and a great communicator), Ghana, Ray, Ras (New member and a gentle, well-mannered young man) and the lovely Sonia. Deck Bar: Robbie and Soo (New member with a gentle, reserved approach to his work) Room Cleaning: Rochetta Reception: Yvora, Natalie and Nikolas Catering/Kitchen Staff: I am not aware of any of their names but want to include them as they are just as important as everyone else. Hotel Maintenance: I would also like to express my big thanks to one of the maintenance staff who was working on some wall shuttering on the hotel structure near the driveway area of the hotel that leads to the swimming pools which was adjacent to the downstair toilets area near the restaurant. I did not catch his name but he very kindly helped me fix a broken arm on my wheelchair and I would like to express my big thanks and gratitude for his help. His assistance made a huge difference and benefit to me enjoying the holiday with a fully operational wheelchair. If I have missed any other staff in my thanks, then please take these words to them and thank them for all their effort and contribution to the successful running of the hotel. Special Mention: All the staff were simply fantastic as I keep saying however on this occasion (and I don’t normally do this), I have to make a special mention about a lovely young lady who was part of the room cleaning and servicing department called Rochetta. This young lady was absolutely lovely with a beaming smile, lovely nature and infectious attitude to everyday life. She was so charming to talk with and such a delight to be in her presence. My most astonishing and hugely complimentary comment was about her actions for me on a number of occasions which, for me, went ‘above and beyond’ her normal job and responsibilities. I am disabled and use an electric wheelchair to get me around the hotel and resort. I love the hotel however being on the 1st floor had a huge negative when using the hotel lifts. There were many an occasion when, after calling the lift, it would travel past my floor and go to the other floors to allow other holiday makers to use the lift. On one occasion, the lift went past me more than 5 times before it eventually stopped for me to use. This young lady, Rochetta, could see what was happening and without any reference or comment to me, she went out of her way to go to the top floor or lower ground floor and commandeer the lift and bring it to the 1st floor where I was waiting. She did this several times each morning when we saw her cleaning the rooms on our way down to breakfast. To me, this customer service and caring was absolutely 1st class and something which one very rarely experiences day to day and for me, Rochetta was exceptional and I hope that the management of the hotel will, after reading this, reflect respectively with her. Furthermore, when we were sat in the deck bar at the front of the hotel awaiting a taxi to take us to the airport on our return home, Rochetta said that she noticed us from her apartment and wanted to come and join us to see us off. She did not have to do this but once again, she went out of her way to show her affections with us. Just OUTSTANDING! On a lasting comment … it’s really not surprising why we keep coming back to this hotel year after year. It may only be our 3rd year up to now but I can honestly say that having been an avid Spanish holiday person for much of my past, when you get a hotel like this and the people within it that make your holiday just great, I really don’t have the desire to go back to any Spanish holiday option again! As for next year(2027), we will be booking to spend our holidays once again with all the wonderful staff at the fantastic Kapetanios Bay Hotel in Protaras, Cyprus and we hope to see you all then. Enjoyed our stay here, the pool area is excellent, the pool bar is excellent, the drinks & food from the bar also excellent 😀 The staff are very good especially Robbie in front bar he was very accommodating and very professional 👏 The rooms were okay quite basic very small balcony but clean and comfortable Location is pretty good quite noisy at night but never bothered us as we were out and about late. Definitely returning next year 😌 🤗

Cyprus is our favourite place but we like trying different hotels and this one has so much potential but a few things let it down. The room was cleaned daily, great, but (and it’s a big but) the towels were very rarely changed. Our bedding was fairly dirty when we got there with a little rip in it - that rip was still there on our 11th and final night so I’m not sure the bedding is changed as often as they say. Beds are pretty awful, pillows are poor too. Location is excellent, right next to the strip and plenty of nice bars and restaurants nearby. We were bed and breakfast so ate out plenty. The breakfast is fine, fairly repetitive but to be expected in Cyprus. Nice coffee on a morning. Food was replenished quickly and always fresh. They do play loud music in the restaurant some mornings and I’m only 34 but it absolutely done my nut in, not sure why anyone needs loud trance music over breakfast. Sunbeds were great, comfy and plentiful. Some people did reserve the loungers the day before but we always got one no bother. Pool is freezing, nice pool area and great to cool off but it’s cold - very cold. Pool bar for 18+ is the best part of the hotel, great for enjoying a beer or a cocktail and the prices are reasonable. The pool bar drinks were good, didn’t eat food there but that looked good. It’s one of them hotels that has signs saying don’t bring food in from outside which is a real pet hate of mine given we weren’t staying all inclusive but it didn’t seem to be enforced that much anyway. Pool area is nice itself too, good atmosphere and the staff around the pool are friendly and attentive. Theres a few repeat customer kicking about and I felt I was treat the same as them, which isn’t always the case! My final gripe is the late check out/courtesy room. Signs everywhere saying ask on the day you leave. We went down early the morning before thinking that was perhaps too early and it was full so no late check out (fair enough) but all the later courtesy room slots had been taken too. Why tell you to go the day of, if the day before they let people book the ideal slot for making the most of your last day. Very annoying. Would I stay here again? Probably not unless it was cheap enough. If you get a cheap deal, go for it, but expect it to be just okay rather than anything flashy.
