Kapetanios Bay Hotel

Recently returned from another fantastic week in Cyprus with the family. We had booked this hotel on the basis that it is at the top of the strip and on level ground due to parents being unable to walk up hills etc. We were a group of 11 across 5 rooms varying ages from 2year old to 70 year old... Good points... * comfy beds - everyone commented on how comfy they were. * right at the start of the strip and close to all amenities so easy for anyone with walking/ mobility difficulties * Modern and stylish hotel * Pool area looks clean, comfy sun loungers and a nice pool with swim up bar ( although we didnt use it as water was too cold in october) * staff gave service with a smile and was polite and friendly * the deck bar at the front of the hotel is nice and clean and serves a selection of cocktails and beers. Bad points... There were only 2 real bad points and I think this is where the deal breaker is for us when deciding if we would return. * room cleanliness - the maids did attend daily they swept, mopped and made made our beds each morning but the following could have been highlighted for us due to having a toddler crawling around... we found the room to be very dusty - you can see the dust floating in the daylight and when we put our phone down to charge there was a layer of dust on it when we picked them up again. The room also smelled musty after the maids had been in. we had a suspicion that it was a dirty mop so we took notice when we went down for breakfast the maids were halfway up the corridor, we clocked the mop buckets with clean water in. We then clocked the mop buckets when we came back from breakfast and just after they had cleaned our room, the water was black so we think that they don't change the water regularly enough causing the musty smell, we stopped baby from crawling around as much as we could, his feet and knees were filthy after crawling around the floor. Others in our group didn't really notice anything wrong with the cleanliness (but their rooms were cleaned earlier than ours) but we all noticed that the towels we had left on the bathroom floor (to be changed) were folded and hung up again. After a few days I commented at breakfast that there was a really strong smell of wee in the bathroom. I joked about thinking the Mrs had a water infection or something. everyone else said they could smell it too so not sure if there was a problem with plumbing. My brother in law said that when he flushed the toilet there was a yellow tinge to the water, when I checked ours I found the same. I flushed 3 or 4 times but there was still a yellowish colour to the water and a smell of urine (not good when you're hungover). My parents bought a bottle of bleach and just kept putting a dash in the toilet now n again. * The food - breakfast was ok, there was a selection of fruits, yogurts, honey, chocolate spread. Usual bacon, sausages, eggs beans etc, there is something you could have each morning but isn't great quality, an elderly lady passed comment about it to us 1 morning aswell. We mainly just had fruit and greek yogurt with a drizzle of honey. We tried evening meal twice and gave up on it. Non of us thought the quality of food was good enough ie - powdered mash. We also noticed that evening meal times were very quiet so I suspect others thought the same. * noise from the bars, now we did expect there to be noise as you are so close so can't really complain, the first night we arrived we thought we couldn't cope with the sound of Amy Winehouse or legends of SkA every night from ghetto bar but to be honest it became background noise after a couple of nights and didnt bother us. It all goes quiet after 1am anyway. If it was just me and the wife going away for a week, this review may be alot different. We probably wouldn't have noticed half the things you do when you have young ones to consider. If the hotel could up its game on the quality of food, and room cleanliness it could be a great hotel.

Just had another great holiday here been coming for years always very friendly and helpful staff everywhere is clean and the pool area is lovely plenty of sunbeds looking forward to being there again next year

We’ve recently returned from an absolutely fantastic 2 week holiday in Protaras, Cyprus (Sept 2025) where we stayed on a Bed & Breakfast basis at the Kapetanios Bay Hotel. This is our 2nd time at this hotel and quite frankly, it just goes from strength to strength and is absolutely superb! As a disabled holiday maker, I am cautious as to where we book our holidays but with the Kapetanios Bay Hotel, I was not left disappointed as most facilities were met. The rooms were just great and facilities around the hotel were exemplary. The hotel was really amazing and brilliant value, and so much so, we will be booking back there for our 3rd year very shortly! Hotel Great location situated towards the top of the ‘Protaras Strip’ which is the main epicentre of activity for bars, restaurants and a variety of different shops and great access to the top road which has a number of lovely bars and restaurants and is also a short walk to the promenade and gorgeous beach. All areas in the hotel were pleasantly decorated and kept spotlessly clean and the cooling effect of the air conditioning in the reception area was an absolute blessing as we were experiencing temperatures of around 34°C mid-morning rising to approximately 39°C by mid-afternoon. Staff All staff here have been absolutely first class, fantastic and have made our holiday so complete! Quite honestly, as my first time in Cyprus, I have never experienced such wonderful, helpful, warming and lovely staff anywhere else I have been in the world and with a hospitality that is so natural and absolutely first class, I cannot thank them all enough! I have listed below, ALL the staff we have had dealings with, and ALL have been just superb. Reception/Management Mr Mavrikios Mavroudis (Hotel Manager), Nicholas, Natalie and Chrystalla. Pool Bar Xenauis, Kyriakos, Ghana, Vijay, Rabin and Christina. Restaurant Tomys Pyliotis, Lilliana, Marianna, Rai, Lucas and Sonja. Kitchen Veselina, Zooula and Christina. Cleaning/Rooms Eleni Deck Coffee Shop Stephanie Rooms Plenty large enough with comfortable beds, adequate facilities for most people’s needs, and well cleaned throughout and regularly. The room also had full air conditioning which was a god send! Pool Area The pool area was just amazing with three pools, one for children, one large pool for everyone and one smaller adults only pool which had the pool bar on one side, a small area to swim and a fantastic jacuzzi on the other side. All surrounded by some great sun loungers and some amazing ‘Cabana’ 4 poster sun lounger beds. Restaurant/Food As for the breakfasts, this was all buffet ‘help yourself’ style and provided every choice you would need for breakfast to satisfy all tastes and requirements and were absolutely delicious. If you have a sweet tooth, the gorgeously moist and delightful marble cake and the croissants with Almond butter spread were to die for! Just amazing and all with such compassion, warmth and love from the people. So anyone wanting to stay in a modern Cypriot hotel on a B & B basis with great rooms, excellent breakfast options, lovely atmosphere and fantastic staff then this place is highly recommended and not to be missed. Fantastic hotel staff too only thing is at weekend it's a nightmare all local take over swim up bar local kids in pool. That's the only thing but I love it and booked for 2026 love this little hotel !

We stayed ay this hotel from 7thto19th September as a couple ,on arrival we were greeted by a really nice man the talked us through the rules and regulations and we went up to our room. The room was very spacious but the bathroom was another thing completely lol really small but did the job The beds were a bit hard for me but a never lost a night sleep We were in room 305 round the back overlooking the carpal and pool and we were never bothered about the noise from the bars Got up the next morning and had breakfast it was a typical all-inclusive breakfast but we always found something to eat and they had English hash browns lol The pool was brilliant the pool was always warm and the swim up bar into adult pool was lovely Dinner was another whole ballgame ,you could either have a 3 course meal or food from the pool bar ,everything was made to order so was fresh and plentiful, you WILL NOT STARVE AT THIS HOTEL LOL I will defo stay here again booking to stay in 2027 when holidays come out defo
