The food here is fantastic the help not so good we wanted to keep the room at an expense of €50 only to be told No, so we now have a 7 hour wait for the transfer with no room other than a baggage area. as for the guests here they would suit a halloween party all are sour faced people don’t know how to be polite or smile. We took a chance of this being the second time here and very disappointed. We won’t be back

We stayed at the Margadina Lounge Hotel from 18th–25th August with our family. We chose this hotel partly because of its beautiful décor and stylish appearance, and aesthetically it really is stunning. The bar and restaurant are beautifully decorated, the location is great and close to the beach and restaurants, and the gym and spa area are particularly impressive. Unfortunately, there were many issues that meant the overall experience didn’t live up to our expectations. There was no air conditioning in the communal areas and even the air conditioning in our room wasn’t particularly strong. The hotel also has just two very small lifts, which don’t seem adequate for the number of guests. The food was decent but the choice was limited. Drinks regularly arrived after we had finished eating, and plates were sometimes cleared before everyone at the table had finished. There were no proper snacks available, and the sandwiches at the bar and packed lunch left in the fridge for late arrivals were disappointing. We were also surprised that there was no shower gel, shampoo or conditioner provided in the room. Housekeeping knocking loudly on the door from around 9am was also not ideal when trying to relax on holiday. The outdoor pool area is beautiful but far too small for the number of guests. There weren’t enough sun loungers, and with inflatables and ball games, it often became overcrowded and chaotic. We also felt the hotel would perhaps be better suited to an adults-only concept, as the limited outdoor space could be enjoyed more peacefully. There is a very small paddling pool which could potentially be better used as a jacuzzi. We were also concerned about the pool supervision. The lifeguard often appeared to be sitting on his phone rather than actively watching the pool. We saw children being told off for certain behaviour, while adults doing similar things were not approached, which felt inconsistent. The animation team were unfortunately the worst we have experienced at a hotel. Aqua gym took place at 12:30 and consisted of a few dance routines that were difficult to follow in the pool. The team didn’t really speak to or engage with guests, and I never saw them engaging with children or organising activities with them. There was also no real evening entertainment. As a result, guests didn’t really get to know one another, and at times the atmosphere felt unfriendly and even hostile. In general, we found the staff not particularly friendly or chatty, which contributed to the lack of a warm and welcoming atmosphere. There may also have been a language barrier at times, as communication with some staff members was difficult. We didn’t come across many English guests and only met one other English family during our stay, who had a very similar experience and shared many of the same concerns. For me, staff can make or break a hotel experience and have the ability to take a holiday to another level. A genuinely warm, friendly and engaging team can create an atmosphere that guests remember long after they’ve left. Unfortunately, we didn’t experience that here, despite the hotel having so many beautiful features. Overall, the Margadina Lounge Hotel is a visually beautiful hotel in a great location, with a fantastic gym and lovely spa facilities. It has so much potential, and with better staff engagement and more attention to the guest experience, it really could be taken to another level. However, the service, entertainment, atmosphere and limited outdoor space meant that, for us, the experience didn’t match the hotel’s appearance. Unfortunately, we wouldn’t choose to return as a family.
