Hotel Cvita

Way better than we expected. Indoor, outdoor pools, gym and sauna, all immaculate. The rooms were spacious overlooking the sea and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Beautiful hotel in Split. The marina and beach were a 20-30 minute walk from the hotel. We could see the Adriatic Sea from our balcony. The room was clean and the staff were friendly.

I keep changing my mind about whether or not to write this review. But here goes. Hotel Cvita, I’m sorry to say, is NOT a four-star hotel. Anyone expecting the hotel to fulfil expectations on that basis will be left bitterly disappointed and shortchanged. The pictures are incredibly misleading. The food was passable but everything about the hotel seemed a little cramped, dingy and unclean. The staff are pleasant but seem a little disinterested and disengaged. We weren’t necessarily made to feel welcome, just a couple of steps above tolerated. Also, BEWARE the sudden tourist tax (probably in the fine print somewhere) that will be applied at the end of your stay without any pre-warning. The hotel we stayed in Zadar, by contrast, was a lot more upfront about this in the booking. I want to make absolutely clear that it’s not a reflection of the country or the people - both are utterly fantastic and warm. My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed central Split and Hvar. However, with the benefit of hindsight, we wouldn’t come here again. We’d recommend staying in the actual city centre or in one of the adjoining beach hotels (trust me, you don’t want the walk back to Hotel Cvita with sand in your swim shorts).

I don’t usually write reviews, but I feel I should after our experience at this hotel so others are aware. The staff were polite enough, but not very engaged. Breakfast was disappointing and not what you would expect from a four-star hotel. The hotel itself felt very unhygienic — our room had multiple stains and silverfish. The pools were also a letdown: very cold, not clean, and the atmosphere wasn’t relaxing. They felt quite claustrophobic and didn’t get much sun during the day. The location was another big issue. It’s far away from the center of Split and in a dark residential area with limited lighting. Walking didn’t feel safe — cars came quickly around blind corners — so we ended up relying on taxis, which added to the cost of our stay. We tried to make the best of the situation, but overall it was uncomfortable and did impact our trip. This was not the four-star experience we were expecting. Croatia itself was absolutely beautiful — Split and Hvar were gorgeous — but unfortunately this hotel did overshadow our trip a little, which was extremely disappointing because we saved up for a year for this trip. I’m sure the staff are just trying their best but four-stars is misleading.

Our stay at the Hotel Cvita was good. The views from the balcony were spectacular. The pool, unheated but lovely. The breakfast buffet was good. The rooms were nice except the carpet. It was very worn and in our room particularly there were spots all over it. We had a corner room which was much smaller than my sister’s room next door. The staff was great. It wasn’t super close to everything unfortunately.
