We stayed at Hotel Plaza Duće, and it was a really lovely hotel overall. The staff were very welcoming, and the hotel was spotless throughout. On arrival, we were also given an unexpected upgrade to a suite, which was a lovely touch. The extra space wasn’t essential for our stay, but the additional storage/cupboard space was really useful and would be ideal for anyone staying longer. The bathroom facilities were excellent, and the balcony was a great size with two loungers and a coffee table – perfect for a morning coffee and an evening sit with the sea view. We stayed on the third floor, which worked really well because there was only one lift. It’s worth noting that the higher rooms are in a separate building and require two lifts, although the views from those rooms would be fantastic over the sea. The only hotel “complaint” was the sun lounger set-up on the rooftop terrace. There were plenty of loungers, but not many were covered by umbrellas as the umbrellas were fixed over the seating areas rather than the loungers. On a rooftop terrace, a bit more shade over the loungers would have been better. In terms of location, we didn’t fully appreciate (despite reading the reviews) how long it can take to get to Split – the bus journey can take 2–3 hours , depending on traffic. Taxis were limited and expensive (it was around £60 to Split), which is why there weren’t many available. Even Uber to the local town often involved a 30-minute wait, so we ended up relying on the bus, which was reliable and very reasonably priced. We only stayed three days, and unfortunately, two of those days it rained, which affected what we managed to do. We ended up seeing Split in the rain, and some of the restaurants along the front stopped serving when the weather turned. The restaurants in the square thankfully stayed open, but it still took the edge off exploring (not intended!). Because the boats to nearby islands go from Split, and we also wanted to visit Trogir, the travel time meant we only made the trip into Split once. For anyone wanting to do lots of day trips, this hotel would be much better suited to a week or longer, so travel days feel less disruptive. That said, the bus service was great for nearby places – we visited the neighbouring town (about 15 minutes by bus). There were also around 8 restaurant options nearby, which were fine for a short stay, although for a longer trip, it would be nice to have a wider choice. We also ate in the hotel restaurant one evening (rather than the inclusive option), and the food was lovely. Overall, it’s a beautiful, well-run hotel, and we really enjoyed the stay – the main considerations are just the location (if Split/island trips are a priority) and the limited taxi/Uber options.
Immaculate hotel, with very well presented staff who clearly have pride in their work. They are a credit to this hotel. We had a 9th floor room with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Rain shower, lovely shampoo/conditioner and body wash. Tea/coffee making facilities. Iron and board, hairdryer, umbrella. Safe is free operates by your key card. Air conditioning and heating. Balcony with table chairs and sun loungers. Food buffet style, very well presented and plenty of choice. There is a beach bar in front of the hotel which we really enjoyed and good prices for drinks. The hotel can arrange excursions and the bus stop to split is a few minutes walk. It is better to download the Promet bus app and you add money to the wallet and buy your tickets and then scan on the bus. It takes 60 mins and the buses run every 30 mins. The same bus goes to Omis and takes 7 mins. 3 euros to split and 1.25 euros to Omis. It is a enjoyable walk along the beach path to Omis, a stunning little town about 40 mins at a nice pace, the beach is stunning with lots places to sit long the route. The water is clear and very safe for children. There are large supermarkets that have everything you need. Bakery, clothing store, household items. There are plenty of cafes and restaurants in Omis. We are so pleased we chose this hotel and location and had an amazing time. Do not hesitate in booking, perfect for all ages. Thank you to all the staff. We will be back.
Stayed here for 4 nights and honestly, even though it’s a 4 star hotel, it felt more like a 5 star experience. The staff were amazing the whole time, super friendly and always happy to help. The superior room was really nice, with modern features like automatic curtains and a motorised blind on the balcony that you can control from inside. Everything, including the spa, was really clean and well looked after. I’m vegan, and they were great about it. The staff knew exactly what I could and couldn’t eat, and even made fresh meals for me, which I really appreciated. It’s about a 45 minute bus ride to Split, and the bus stop is less than a 5-minute walk away, so it’s pretty convenient. Would definitely stay here again!
Excellent modern hotel very clean and staff are friendly and helpful.
Visited the Hotel Plaza Duce with my mum for a 3 night break. It was fantastic from the minute we arrived. The staff are so friendly and knowledgeable of what's around the area and the excursions etc especially Steven. I like to give a detailed review as this is something we always look at ourselves before choosing where to stay so I hope this helps Room- The room (806) was on the second floor, it lovely, spacious, clean and very well thought out with exceptional views from the balcony. The beds get made and bins emptied every day unless you dont want them to be and on our third day the towels were changed, possibly the bedding too although we couldn't be sure. Bathroom had bath and shower with two sinks which was nice. All towels, robes and slippers included. Safe is operated with your room key card. We only ever heard noise if the next rooms were on their balconies, other than that the only thing you hear is the pool. The curtains are great blackout curtains and automatic too! Pool/Spa - It is freezing. I did wonder why no-one was in the pool as it looks so inviting but I got my answer very quickly when I got in, it was so cold I didn't stay in very long although I can imagine in the middle of summer it is very refreshing. The jacuzzi was nice and warm. Inside there is another pool (also cold), jacuzzi, infrared sauna, Finnish sauna and steam room. We also both had a massage which was lovely (€55 for 25mins). Beach - Across the road is the hotels beach, there was obviously no beach bar open or seats out as we visited out of season but I can imagine it would be lovely in season. The beaches are a gravel kind of sand and not the kind i am used to, not the kind you walk along barefoot (i tried, it hurt) But lovely nonetheless. The water is crystal clear, beautiful. Location - The hotel is quite far out from anything but we went out of season so expected things to not be open, however it was a good hour walk to get to a shop to buy some snacks & drinks etc as we didn't want to use the minibar as were on a budget. Split was easy to get to on a bus (60) just outside of the hotel and took around an hour, easy to navigate, the stop coming back to the hotel is Duce, cost was €3 each single trip. Food - We were half board so had breakfast and dinner. There was a great selection of food, hot and cold to cater to all tastes. I am super fussy and I managed to eat every night just fine. We were provided a breakfast bag on the day we left early for a trip which was a nice touch (you do have to pre-order and comes with a baguette, apple and juice). Cocktails were delicious! If going out of season i would recommend going half board so you don't have to find somewhere to eat as we didn't see any places open locally on our walks. Trips - We did Krka National park with boat trip and Trogir organised with the hotel via email before we travelled. Was €41 each and included transfer from hotel to Split (ours forgot us but the hotel quickly arranged a taxi) I highly recommend this, was incredible and well worth the money for what's included, transfer coach, guide, boat, trogir, skradin, waterfalls (entry paid on top €16) but overall a fantastic day out. Our guide Dario was amazing. We also did a tuk tuk tour from Split (€40 each) which was great. The driver was good, friendly and knowledgeable and you get to see things you perhaps would get to do on foot without spending hours walking etc. It ended with a short walking tour of the centre of Split and we found it fascinating. Marko was a great guide. Our only negatives would be that we did get a kick up of sewage type smell quite often from the bathroom, it wasn't pleasant but it didn't ruin our stay. And the fact not even a local shop was open but we kind of expected this. Overall its been a lovely stay, would I stay at Hotel Plaza Duce again. Absolutely 💯. We chose this hotel out of season because we wanted a nice relaxing break, in a nice hotel without too many people. We were very well looked after and the hotel is a great choice. Croatia is beautiful and very safe. Everyone is so passionate about their country and their families, its lovely to see.
