Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this hotel. I would like to share an honest and transparent review of my experience, as I believe future guests should be aware of several important issues before booking. Our stay began yesterday, and upon arrival we were immediately asked to pay the full amount for our entire six-night stay upfront. Based on the booking conditions and the information I had seen, I understood that payment could be settled at the end of the stay or that only the first night might be charged in advance. Had I known what our actual experience at the hotel would be like, I would certainly not have committed to such a long stay. After just one day, I realized that the hotel was not at all what I had expected and asked whether we could shorten our stay and receive a refund for the remaining unused nights so that we could move to another hotel. The manager refused to refund the money. This was, for me, the most disappointing part of the entire experience. I fully understand that hotels have cancellation policies, but considering the problems we encountered immediately after arrival, I had hoped the management would show at least some flexibility and understanding. To begin with, we were checked into a room where the balcony door was broken and could not be properly closed or locked. When we reported the problem, we were told that a technician would only be able to repair it the following day and that we should not worry because “nothing would be stolen.” This response was completely unacceptable to us, especially since the room faced an area accessible from the road and parking area. Leaving a balcony door that cannot be secured is, first and foremost, a safety concern. Only after we insisted were we moved to another room nearby. While we appreciate that another room was eventually provided, changing rooms immediately after a long journey meant unpacking, repacking and moving our belongings again — additional stress and lost vacation time that should not be expected from a hotel at this price level. On the same day, we also requested an iron. We were told that apparently there was only one iron available for the entire hotel. We waited throughout the day and still did not receive it. The following morning, after asking again, it was still unavailable. Only after I personally asked the manager to resolve the situation did we finally receive an iron — almost 24 hours after our initial request. The room itself is also not designed particularly well for a comfortable seaside stay. There is no practical place to hang and dry wet swimsuits or beachwear. For a hotel located directly by the sea, I find this very surprising. Guests naturally return from the beach with wet clothes, yet there is no drying rack, line or other designated area. Are guests expected to dry their swimsuits on the bed or sofa? The bathroom also lacks basic practical storage. There are no convenient shelves in the shower area for shampoo, shower gel or other toiletries, which is another small but frustrating detail that could easily be improved. However, one of my biggest disappointments was the beach experience. The official hotel photos and presentation created a very different impression from the reality we encountered. The beach directly in front of the hotel is public and, during our stay, was extremely overcrowded. As the photos attached to this review show, the beach was packed with people, towels, sunbeds and inflatable toys, making it very difficult to find space or even comfortably access the sea. I want to highlight this specifically for anyone considering booking this hotel expecting a peaceful, exclusive or resort-like beach experience: this is not a private hotel beach, and the reality during peak season may be dramatically different from the impression created by the hotel’s promotional images. For the price of the stay, I personally expected a much more comfortable and relaxing seaside experience. I rarely leave negative reviews, but in this case I believe it is important to share my experience openly. Between being required to pay the entire stay upfront, being given a room with a balcony door that could not be secured, having to change rooms after arrival, waiting almost 24 hours for a basic item such as an iron, the lack of practical amenities in the room, the extremely overcrowded public beach, and finally the management’s refusal to refund the unused nights when we wanted to leave early, our experience was unfortunately far from what we expected. If I had known all of this before booking, I would have chosen a different hotel. I hope this review helps future guests make a more informed decision and encourages the hotel management to reconsider both its guest service and how accurately the overall beach experience is presented to potential visitors.

Respected, currently, for the last 7 days I am in Brela. I am a regular guest of the 'beach bar' of the Hotel Maestral. I have been a loyal guest of BlueSun Corporation for the last 10 years, along the entire coast and islands. In addition, I travel a lot around the world. What I experienced this year is absolutely incommensurable with all my previous experiences. And that is an unforgettable experience of union, embodied in local humor with the surroundings, which was exclusively contributed by 2 waiters: Josip Miočić and Aleksa Dobričić. I especially single out Josip! Rarely and anywhere (Majorca, Barcelona, Turkey, Kuwait, Canada, Zanzibar, ...) have I met such professional, cordial and natural workers. They assigned homework to everyone! Please take this seriously! I kindly ask you, if nothing else, to forward my email to their manager. However, in addition to my financial reward for them, I am of the opinion that a similar reward from your side would make their efforts more visible and certainly stimulating for them! I am of the opinion that their excellence should be recognized and rewarded. In good faith that you will consider my proposal and realize it, and that my experience with your corporation and kind Josip and Aleks will continue in the near future, I warmly greet you.

I give the Hotel Bluesun Maestral five stars for its wonderful modernist design and beautiful setting in lovely Brela. The hotel is surrounded by groves of pine trees and fronts an endless stretch of very swimmable beaches and a promenade that runs for several miles. The hotel building itself is an architectural gem, recently restored from its early 60s heyday. Our room was comfortable and the dining room food was excellent. There's a nice pool, and a beach club with lounge chairs closer to the sea (though we were unsure why we needed to pay extra to sit at the latter location.) The hotel doesn't offer too much more in the way of services, but no matter: We were just grateful to have it as a base to explore this very pretty part of Croatia, and we thoroughly enjoyed a happy, peaceful few days there. One thing to note: There are a few other Bluesun hotels in Brela. The Maestral appears to be a bit smaller than the others, but I'd still choose it, just for the simple perfection of its historic design.
