Stayed two night (booked by Riviera Travel, not us) after a lovely 7 day cruise up Adriatic coast. Hotel reception put just one receptionist for the arrival of 36 guests on a coach, so wasn't too impressed....no welcome to the hotel, just name, here's your key....and the silent... "next, go away please" feeling. We'd emailed the hotel [& Riviera Travel] weeks prior, to say it was our 33rd wedding anniversary on the second night, it would be great to have a room with a view, from floor 4 upwards. We got no acknowledgment and got a 1st floor room....looking at the car park at the back of the hotel. Other guests [now new cruise friends] were randomly given huge jacuzzi , lounge , balcony rooms but had not booked them, just luck. It sucked. The good bits; Spa, pool, steam / sauna / calm room and loungers are all very nice places to relax. The breakfast is great, the waitress in the mornings was excellent. The rooms are clean, well equipped, air conditioned. The weather wasn't good for a swim in the infinity rooftop pool sadly, but looked nice, albeit small area. The not so good, and the reason I would not book again, was the general staff attitude towards guests was "you are a pain in the butt, what do you want now". To give you specific, there were the two same evening dinner waiters for our stay. One, smiled, helpful, great. The other "Mr Grumpus" (we were on a table of 6]. The soup came with no sunflower seed topping as stated on the menu....ask waiter to produce some, he said "its how the chef sent if, walked off, ignored us for 15 mins. The main courses arrive, no parmesan cheese for the pasta dishes, he was asked for some, walked off, ignored us for 15 mins....my wife's main course was pork tenderloin medallions and all three pieces were raw inside. He took it away silently, returned when most of us had finished our main courses, but to the chef's credit, he said her meal would be free, so we accepted it, just a shame care, attention and service was provided in the first place. The hotel is a 30 min [not very pleasant walk from Split central] so if I were you, and you have a choice. BOOK ELSEWHERE, they don't deserve your hard earned cash.
Just stayed at the Marvie Hotel for 5 days. 20 minutes from city centre walk either via street or coast walk. Met by Irena on arrival who was lovely and very professional. Breakfast was to a good standard, hotel even provided breakfast boxes for us when we had early excursions. I would recommend the hotel though I u want to be in the city centre then this may not be for you. Thanks again to Irena who is a credit to the hotel
Was an amazing hotel, great breakfast, clean and modern rooms, kind and friendly staff! The hotel had a small rooftop pool, with impressive views of the sea, with a bar. It also had a pool downstairs, relaxing, with a hot tub, spa and rainfall showers and a sauna/steam room. However, the walk to Split Old Town is about 20 minutes, but if you are happy to walk, it is fine! Overall, an amazing hotel!
Stayed here 15/12 - 16/12 (Classic Double or Twin room, Courtyard View). Hotel near the sea, wonderful view from the rooftop pool. Perfect for an overnight stay or a longer stay. Families should have slightly older children as it is 10 minutes to the beach along a busy road. If you have a room with a view of the inner courtyard, you will be looking straight into the hospital. Early check-out meant I didn't get to try the breakfast. Pros: Nice staff at the reception. Clean and fresh rooms. Parking garage. 10 minute walk to the beach. Shopping centre 2 minutes away. Electric kettle. Bed firmness 7 (Sinks right through 0 - lies on top of the mattress 10). Value for money on the entire stay 7 (Throws money down the drain 0 - Break Even 5 - Highest profit 10). Cons. The road to the beach is along a busy road
We stayed at Marvie hotel for a short break with a group of friends. It is a 20 minute walk along the coast to the old town. The hotel is modern , clean and beautiful and bedroom spacious with amazing views over the sea. The even meal and breakfast were plentiful and well prepared. The reception staff friendly, helpful and professional. I will definitely stay at Marvie again on my next visit to Split.
