Palace Suites Split

The location is amazing - right in the middle of one of the main squares. The stone walls gave the room such a historic palace feel - it was great. We were in the Deluxe double - city view suite on the second floor. These rooms are very spacious. I've added a photo that I took of the square below from the window. There is a restaurant in front of the suites. You enter the suites via the side alley. One of the great things about the Palace Suites is the manager at the front desk, Margareta. She is delightful and very helpful. I think our room was yet to be renovated because the bathroom was dated and the hot water system a little noisy. However, with the double glazed windows you can choose to hear the sounds of the city or hear nothing. I'm not sure it is worth booking the city view suite if you are on the second or third floors because you basically need to be standing at the window to see the view. We stayed for 5 nights so had quite a bit of down time and we generally like to watch whatever news channels are available eg CNN or the BBC. Unfortunately, the TV system was constantly playing up - I think there may have been one night that the TV worked seamlessly - but it didn't last. Margareta went out of her way to make up for the annoying TV issue by helping to take our bags to the ferry.

Lovely hotel, fantastic location. Beautifully renovated old building. Walking distance to all the significant sites. Clean, well equipped rooms. Nice breakfast. Although it's in a busy square, it's quiet as double glazed windows and air conditioning.

The hotel is situated in the heart of the old town in the people’s square. It is ideally situated for exploring the town, the palace and the waterfront. The whole of the old town is a car free zone so be prepared to pull your suit cases through the narrow alleys to get to and from the hotel, the port and the bus station. Taxi drivers will drop you as near as they can. We were welcomed on arrival by a helpful receptionist. The bedrooms are well appointed with plenty of storage and AC. Powerful shower but the hot water system cannot cope with 2 consecutive showers in the morning. The breakfasts were very disappointing. Croissants were of a cardboard consistency, jam was just a jelly, very small quantities of blueberries which were replenished, and a couple of bananas if you got to breakfast early. The cooked selection was stone cold and consisted of hard scrambled egg, some chopped up fatty sausages, something like an eggy bread which tasted like leather and some very strange fried eggs. There were the usual cereals, cheese and cold meats, juices and a coffee machine. Plenty of good restaurants with easy walking distance. .

Arrived and quick booking in at reception. Very friendly, helpful & gave us maps and said ask anything whilst staying. Our room was clean, spacious & had all we needed for 4 nights. Bathroom has a great shower & bed was twins pushed together. Was very comfy and the air con easily adjustable re temps & underfloor heating. Breakfast is in the small dining room next to the reception and was simple but done really well. I had cereals (which included options of muesli / corn flakes / granola and some other options. Milk options also varied, including full / semi / Soya / Coconut etc Bread options also fresh each day along with yogurts, fruit and scarmbled eggs, fried eggs and some other hot options. The location of the hotel is outstanding. We got a Bolt cab from the airport to the hotel on the way in but having read the in room hotel booklet, decided to book their transfer back. Oddly, the room booklet is clearly out of date as it says its transfers are 35 euros. When booked at the hotel reception though, they said it was 50. Very odd considering the wording attached in thephoto says this sort of price should be considered a fraud 😆 Having been transferred by Leon (who reception booked) i have no complaints as he was outstanding and a very engaging and professional driver. Thank you Leon! May I suggest the hotel updates its booklet though 👍

4 night stay in this perfectly located charming hotel in the amazing Novotny Square, with so many restaurants and bars, a short few steps away from Dominican's Palace gates. Lovely, clean rooms with all necessary amenities and a very comfy bed. Excellent breakfast in a room overlooking the square. Having a lift was very helpful, as I have walking difficulties. The staff were hugely helpful and friendly.
