I stayed here in a standard room in 2024 - came back with my partner (we’re in our 50s) and son (18) for two weeks in late May 2026, and we stayed in one of the suites. We had family joining us for a couple of days in a plus one room, so have seen all 3 room types. The suite was a higher standard of room than we’re used to. All rooms have brilliant views of sea and mountains (hotel is perpendicular to beach) - half overlook the pool too, and the other half give you beautiful sunsets. Balconies are all a decent size. Our suite (and all the other suites, I think) had an L-shaped balcony which was huge and overlooked the pool and sea - by far the best balcony view I’ve ever had - stunning! The decor in all the rooms is really nice, but the standard rooms are pretty small - plus one are more like a standard size in most hotels. Our suite was roughly the size of two rooms. Storage slightly better than standard rooms, but would recommend packing cubes and travel hangers whatever room you’re in. Suites are really close to the panoramic lift. Suites have a sound system (didn’t use) and a telly which can be swivelled to face the bed or the rest of the room. Overpriced mini-bar and wine fridge plus spirits - slight niggle was having to empty the mini bar to use fridge, which was pretty small! Bathroom in suites has super and bath, and is lovely but a strange layout. It has glass walls in 3 directions. One overlooks the entryway to the room, and can only be partly obscured by hanging clothes. The other two can be hidden by a curtain, but make the sink and toilet out-of-bounds if you want privacy (the toilet is a separate cubicle, thankfully). We managed by timing our showers, but would’ve preferred normal walls! Standard rooms don’t have this issue. Beds are comfy. Rooms clean. Aircon worked well, once switched on, although we had some confusion about when it was being changed from heating to cooling, as we came early in the season and the weather had just begun to heat up. Had to request the switch, even though it seemed the switch had already been made for other rooms. Food was good. Half-board flexi system worked well and gave us opportunities to buy drinks and lunch in the hotel as well as exploring restaurants in Makarska. Staff were courteous and helpful. Waiters (e.g. Antonella, Ivan, Mateo) were great. Our son had his 18th birthday the day after we arrived. He was brought a fruit basket and generic card on the day. We were also able to arrange a (paid) birthday cake a few days later (when family joined us) and a table at the à la carte - the cake was tasty, beautifully decorated (with lettering) and could easily have fed 8 (meant to be for 4)! Water: think the hotel needs to put up more signage about the tap water being drinkable - I didn’t notice this (in one of the public toilets) until the third day of my second stay! The water comes from the Biokovo mountains. As Scots, we’re fussy about our tap water, and found it totally fine. There’s an ice machine in the reception area and we brought insulated cups, so had free, cold water on tap! Our son used the gym a few times - he did find it quite hot (enough to put me off!)! Hotel has a free, self-serve laundry, which is on the same floor as the pool, so you can lounge while waiting for your clothes to wash! Two washers (which self-dispense detergent) and two dryers. Iron and board in laundry room too. The pool area feels luxurious - cushioned loungers and easy to find sun or shade. Also and sea views. Pools aren’t heated - were cold in May, but gradually more bearable as the weather heated up! The beach usually has a charge for loungers. But the beach bar and toilets were closed and being prepared for start of high season, so beach was free - loungers are huge and also have cushions. Reception toilets were a 5 min walk from beach. Water shoes advisable. Clientele: mostly adults (all ages) - a few teens and fewer young children (although we weren’t there in school hols). If you want to avoid Brits on your holidays, then this is a good choice (a few of us will sneak in though!)! Makarska itself is gorgeous. The hotel location is ideal - plenty bars, restaurants and beaches nearby, and the centre is walkable and a good way to get steps in. There is some building work near the centre at the moment, but looks like it’ll be an improvement once finished. We’re hooked on Croatia, Makarska and Places Dalmacija - we hope to come back again, maybe next year!
