Admiral Grand Hotel

Good Points: - The Admiral is located on a man-made beach which is actually lovely. They provide sun beds and beach towels free of charge every day (I’ve never seen this before). - By the beach there’s an indoor pool/jacuzzi and an outdoor pool. - Everything is very clean and welcoming. The rooms are spacious, very clean and reasonably equipped. - Most of the staff are very friendly but we have had a couple of abrupt encounters. - Bus stop right across the road which will bring you to the main bus station in Dubrovnik within an hour. - The view of the mountains and sea around the area is very nice along with local restaurants serving great food. Bad points: First off, my partner put a great deal of effort into booking this holiday for us. She did a superb job and she has also been let down by the following: - TV in our room is very dated. It’s not a smart TV (it would have been considered acceptable in 2007) therefore we are unable to log into our Netflix accounts. We have been stuck with news channels only and this has been a big let-down and not in keeping with a “5 Star” hotel. Our hotels on our last two holidays (Sicily and Malta) both had smart TVs with Netflix. - The food at breakfast and dinner has been acceptable, not something that even tickles your taste buds, let alone blows them away. You’re finding yourself eating to survive rather than eating to enjoy the food. After the first day we knew not to look forward to it but to just treat it as food we had paid for in our package. - The hotel’s website states “all our rooms have a balcony” yet when we first got to our room we were greeted by bars across the window which made it look like a prison and no balcony. When we enquired about this we were told we would have to pay an extra €150 if we wanted a room with a balcony. Very disappointing. - We are here in September 2026 and there’s no one else our age (early 40’s) here. Mainly people in their 60’s+. This isn’t a reflection on the hotel, just something to consider. Nightly entertainment has been half-arsed too and there’s no night-life in the hotel as everyone is gone to bed by 10. Would I come back to the Admiral again? Probably not. If I were to come to this region of Croatia again I would be looking for a more modern-equipped hotel closer to Dubrovnik. If you would prefer a Red Bull over a cup of tea, this hotel/area is not for you. It does have its charms but they aren’t numerous enough to outweigh the negatives

Location and atmosphere was good, close to bus stop that takes you to dubrovnik, the room had 2 single beds connected which i didnt like, it was clean tho. Breakfast is fine even tho its repetitive, but had enough choices. Dinner is good but beef was very chewy, and no drinks were included for dinner.. not even juice?“

This was our first visit to Slano and i would certainly recommend this hotel. The facilities are very good indoor pool outside pool and the hotel sits next to the pebble beach. Plenty of sunbeds,umbrellas, towels all provided free of charge. There is a poolside bar which provides drinks and food. The staff are very helpful and attentive. The resort itself is quiet and has an unspoilt feel to it. There are a couple of walks around the bay. Numerous boat trips which are provided by various operators. The hotel is very clean and rooms are serviced daily. We were half board plenty of selection both at breakfast and at the evening meal. The omelettes are lovely however the rest of the food tends to be lukewarm but quality is fine. Would stay here again

Fabulous hotel right on a gorgeous beach. It was really clean and my room had an incredible view. Plenty of sunbeds available and great clean beach towels available daily. When I thought I’d left something behind they double checked the room after I’d left and updated me straightaway. For a solo traveller I was comfortable and Slano is a lovely village too. The only negative was the arrival of flashy cruisers en masse on certain dates but that is beyond the control of the hotel. Great boat trips from Slano also available. Definitely recommend

The location of this hotel is beautiful, nothing much to do but it suited us, we mostly read. The hotel however is Not 5 star. No hospitality tray except 2 sachets of coffee on arrival, no water with dinner, everything had to be purchased and was expensive, our room was not adequately cleaned and on 2 occasions we had to request toilet rolls. Very little wardrobe hanging space and no drawers. One member of staff on reception was pleasant and another definitely not. We found a lot of staff borderline rude. A beautiful country but not the hotel experience we expected. Very underwhelming. We are well travelled and would definitely not recommend this hotel
