The location of this hotel is absolutely superb , right on the beautiful bay of Slano , there is a bus terminal right outside the door which serves the # 12. Bus , which goes right into the centre of Dubrovnik, about an hours drive but the scenery is amazing €3.70 each way . The hotel itself is labelled by TUI as a 5* hotel , hmmm , not to us it wasn’t. Check in process was quite simple, we arrived early , so they put our luggage in a side room and told us to go get something to eat or drink and come back to reception at 3pm or maybe ready at 2pm . So we went outside for something to eat and my wife got a tuna salad and I got a cheese ham and tomato large sandwich. It was nice but very expensive a coke and a beer , nearly €50 wow . The food was ok , always found something suitable but not great for a 5* hotel , there was always fresh melon out but all other fruit was out of a tin , so obvious, I’m sure fresh fruit is not that difficult to source , oh and the melon always still had some seeds in it , it’s not that difficult to remove all the seeds . 5* hmmm. The beach as I said was amazing , although you need your beach shoes to get in the water , very pebbly but I loved it , and there was always plenty of free sunbeds to be had all with there own umbrella, it does get pretty windy and the umbrellas are a bit temperamental, but the guy on the beach is extremely attentive and seemed to know when the wind was due and got everyone to lower the brollies , The aperitif bar was the only place you could get an alcoholic drink and only had basic drinks available. My wife drank the Metaxa brandy , not her normal brand , but she said it was ok , and i usually drink Bombay sapphire , had to make do with Hendricks , so brandy & coke , gin & tonic €19.70 . Certainly 5* prices . The good thing about going for drink was the staff , Ivanna always insisted on bringing my drinks to our table outside , my wife thought we had something going on as she didn’t seem to do this for others . Daniella was great as well , always smiling , keep it up , you are a breath of fresh air . The room was basic , but just what you need , but not much more . Kept very clean by the room staff . I forgot the beach towels , you collect them on the way down and hand them back on the way up , no charge . Entertainment at night was pretty scarce , we had a night with traditional dancers for a couple of 1/2 hr stints , and a piano player playing outside the restaurant on another night , and that was about it . All in all , Slano is an amazing place, but the Admiral grand 5* , sorry but don’t think we will be coming back , sorry , just expected more 🤔😩

Just spent the most amazing week at this beautiful hotel in the resort of Slano . It was perfect for us as we wanted a week to unwind , food was amazing , plenty choice for breakfast and dinner and everything was tasty . We ate breakfast on the terrace with a stunning view of the bay but found it a bit hot for dinner so sat inside in the air conditioned restaurant. Staff in the restaurant are very efficient and special thanks go to Mila. The hotel has excellent facilities , we enjoyed the beach and pool so much we never used the indoor pool , jacuzzi and sauna . We never had a problem getting a sun lounger and umbrella. We’d recommend getting the local bus into Dubrovnik which drops you at the top of the Old Town . The walk down was ok but be prepared for the steep climb back up in your return! We also went on the Elephiti island boat tour from the harbour which we’d thoroughly recommend . Our bedroom was lovely , very comfy beds and we had the most stunning sea view . All in all we had a great week and would definitely recommend this hotel

TA never lets you do half measures so let's just say I rate the hotel 4.5, which I have rounded up! Lots to love about this hotel. Beautiful, peaceful location, which once you have visited Dubrovnik, you will absolutely appreciate. The bay location is idyllic, and that first morning swim at 7am in pristine water - to die for! A late afternoon dip is also an absolute pleasure and a welcome relief from the (very) warm temperatures. The public areas of the hotel are well maintained and rooms are comfortable with beautiful sea/mountain views. Venturing around the bay the view back to the hotel with the mountains behind is so uplifting. Food in the hotel is fine. Breakfast is repetitive but pastries, fruit, yoghurt, prosecco - you know I think I will cope! Hot options for those who want them. Dinner seemed to be on a one-week rotation and that's fine - quality meat, fish, veggie options so perfectly tasty and reasonable. Drinks in the hotel are on the expensive side but I just brought my water bottle to dinner to avoid bottled water and no-one had an issue with that, nor with constructing a lunch sandwich at breakfast. Choice of drinks and location to drink was all good. If you need to find an alternative then two small local supermarkets, three decent and immediate local restaurants and three/four local bars provide excellent and not unreasonable alternatives. If you are expecting the amenities associated with a centre like Dubrovnik then you will be disappointed but we could rent SUPs, kayaks, bikes, a basketball(which was actually no charge) and tennis equipment through the hotel. This was all we needed. It was quite refreshing that evening entertainment was relatively limited. It fitted well with the ambiance of the hotel, which was very much rest and relaxation. The biggest annoyance was when a group started singing along with the pianist and disrupted the relaxed vibe. Although being here does limit the scope of some trips (we didn't use the buses but they clearly function pretty well, if not especially often) we still made it to Mostar, Korcula, Ston, Dubrovnik (go here on a Wed/Fri when fewer cruise ships to ruin the town) and a boat excursion out to the Elaphiti islands. Being north of Dubrovnik gave us the advantage of last to board trips north and first to depart. Biggest highlight for me was the hiking opportunities around the village. I was able to do some great walks in and around the mountains (avoiding large rocky paths where possible - risk of snakes!) and this has given me some amazing memories. The TI office has a useful QR code to scan walking and cycling routes onto Google Maps - so useful for exploring off the beaten track. A nice shout out too to the Heritage House and Rector's Palace in Slano - both offering a nice insight into local history. So why 4.5? For me this was a 5* hotel with one huge exception. The spa was quite frankly way out of sync with everything else. Tired, most of it out of order, and in major need of improvement (as was the gym to some extent). Treatments I understand were fine but a small sauna and murderous and noisy steam room aside all you have is a jacuzzi (not working), an 'experience' shower (which is great if your idea of an experience is light drizzle in northern England with jungle sound effects), heated beds (which don't heat up) and a somewhat lax attitude to refreshing the spa towels meaning many people leave them lying around and making the small area look even more shabby. I think the spa may be outsourced to another company but seriously - the hotel could do so much better. But hey, that was the half point and it doesn't detract too much from the rest of the stay for me - I go home relaxed and recharged. A final mention to the hotel staff - bar, pool, rooms, restaurant - they are a great team, friendly and helpful and they genuinely look like they enjoy their work - this is so important for the ambience of the hotel and they really helped make the holiday.
