Hotel Croatia

Just back from a week long trip to Cavtat with my son and absolutely loved it!! I'd initially looked at Hotel Cavtat but ended up in Hotel Croatia which was definitely the right decision. We loved the elevated position and being slightly back from the bars and restaurants and having a stunning sea view room and easy access to the sea was incredible. It was an amazing trip from start to finish, arriving early and our room being available to our first sight of Cavtat which id breathtaking. Yes there's lots of steps to get back to the hotel, but not a problem for us and we did that trip twice a day (there is a buggy service). Room was lovely, serviced every day, robes available and chocs every night. The staff were fab, my only complaint wiukd be the food. I booked us half board but having eaten there first 2 nights and not enjoyed our meals we made the decision to eat out, so I wouldn't recommend the option of half board. That said it didn't detract from our love of the hotel or Cavtat. Did great boat trips to Dubrovnik where we walked the wall which isxa must, snorkelled the blue/green caves and visied beautiful Lokrum with Vivado boat company which we highly recommend. Enjoyed efening meals at Club21 and pizzeria Kabalero restaurants and drinks at ZO bar. All in all a wonderful trip and somewhere I will definitely return to, staying again at Hotel Croatia

The hotel is ideally situated at one end of Cavtat with easy walking access to all bars, beaches and restaurants. The hotel is clean and the rooms well appointed- we had a double, sea facing with a balcony. The bathroom was a shower only, but of more than adequate size and, above all, immaculately clean. Would we stay again? Definitely, but wise in the knowledge that we thought half-board was good value (1st - 7th October) and it served only as a place to sleep and have breakfast. Forget the tiny swimming pool and the concrete area on the roof of the hotel where it's situated. It's bland and unwelcoming. Here's the big downside of the hotel ... You pay for a sun bed that you can only have for the morning or afternoon. It costs €8 per bed for that half-day which buys you a voucher for drinks available from a small bar. If your drink costs €4, that's the end of your voucher; no change or carry forward to the next drink, so you have to buy another drink, whether you want one or not. It's a stupid system. The pool area is hardly one to write home about, either. There are 3 or 4 free sun beds across the road at the water's edge, but they're soon gone until the sun leaves the area. Go to a beach, (pleasant 10min. walk) and pay €12/bed for all day. Don't be tempted to eat or drink in the hotel bar/restaurant beside the water. It's a complete rip off. We had 4 drinks and an unremarkable main course when we arrived; €103! Others are better and a whole lot cheaper.

Perfect Location , perfect atmosphere , rooms exceptional and value for money . Would definitely come back . Can’t fault this place .

We stayed at Hotel Croatia for 10 days mid September, on a B&B basis and had a lovely holiday … with a few hiccups! The hotel is only a 10 minute transfer from Dubrovnik airport, which is fantastic. The hotel is very big, and you chalk up a lot of steps walking from your room, to breakfast, to the beach, to the pool and then to the town. We’re in our mid 50’s and quite active, so this wasn’t a huge problem but for others it might be a struggle. The lifts are very busy, and we usually gave up and used the stairs! We never used the golf buggy to town, but did notice it was running often. The pool didn’t appeal to us, it was very shaded and lacked ambience! We much preferred the rocky ‘beach’ area, sunbathing on the chairs nestled on the cliffside, walking down the steps to the water and snorkelling in the sea. Lovely and quiet, with such a gorgeous view. Top tip: I purchased a cushioned, roll up mat from town, which made it comfier to lie on my front on the floor, to tan my back! Housekeeping was a bit hit and miss! Some days we’d have the towels changed twice unnecessarily, other days they’d be taken away and not replaced! The same with our cups, some days dirty cups were ignored, other days they were taken away and not replaced. We had an issue with our hotel door, it would slam shut and then ‘bounce’ back open again, meaning you had to carefully pull it shut to ensure it was secure. We came back to our room on two occasions and noticed housekeeping had left it ajar, despite asking the reception team to alert them to the issue. The hotel compensated us for the problem and apologised, and we ended up leaving a note for them in our room, to remind them to secure the door every time they left! Other than breakfast, our only other meal at the hotel was The Steakhouse. It was very nice but lacked ambience and was very dated. Food was good though. Be vigilante with your room bill! We paid for everything on our credit card, so we knew nothing other than the tourist tax should be on our final bill. However, on the last few days of our stay someone had been using our room number and had charged over 80 euros to our room! We managed to prove it wasn’t us, but had we added our own items, it might have ‘got lost’ amongst the charges. Cavtat is a beautiful little resort, with lots of lovely welcoming restaurants. Our favourite was Posejdon. Prices are about the same as the UK, so not the cheapest. But the location is outstanding for sea and sunset views. Overall, we loved Cavtat and would be happy to stay here again.

This was our third time staying at Hotel Croatia, but our first time with our 9-month-old & my parents. We absolutely love this hotel, it has everything you could want for a relaxing holiday & the views are simply breathtaking. We were a little apprehensive about taking Theo on his first holiday, but we honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Every member of staff was so friendly and welcoming & everyone was absolutely brilliant with Theo. They were always stopping to say hello, chat to him & play with him, which was so lovely to see and made us feel really at ease. A special mention has to go to Snedjana, Nana, Iogor, Francisa, Mora and Delfina in the Piano Bar and Restaurant (apologies if I’ve spelt any of the names incorrectly!). They were all absolutely fantastic and really went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. They helped make our holiday so special and we really appreciated it. Our room was lovely & the whole hotel was incredibly clean. The cleaning team were also so kind and friendly with Theo whenever they saw him. We stayed half board and really enjoyed both breakfast and dinner. There was lots of choice and everything was delicious. We also ate at Posejdon and Dalmatino in Cavtat, both of which we would definitely recommend. We’ve loved every one of our stays here and this trip was no exception. If anything, going with Theo made us appreciate just how wonderful and welcoming the hotel is even more. We’re already hoping to return again! ❤️
