where do i begin. This hotel should be a three star maybe even two stars. Not a single member of staff was friendly or helpful. Glasses was constantly dropped during every meal time and around the bar area by staff which did not create a pleasant environment. Staff all seemed as though they were born yesterday, were scared of us and extremely inexperienced in the hospitality sector. The hotel had strange rules where we had to give them our room card to get towels and to put meals or drinks on the room. One member of staff told us his shift ended so we had to settle our bill even though we had only ordered one round of drinks and were planning to order more. I have never heard of this and it didn’t make sense especially as I myself work as a waitress. The whole hotel is extremely outdated and has such a wierd vibe. The beach area was so so so overcrowded. There was never any sun loungers available and as a result we had to go to the pool area which was a very small pool. The buffett food was genuinely vile and none of us had a decent meal. everything was cold and clearly not fresh. I would not reccomend this hotel to anybody not even my worst enemy- genuinely. save your money and go ANYWHERE ELSE.

UPDATE: Issue fully resolved. After posting this review, the management team stepped in to correct the situation. The hotel has agreed to entirely reimburse the €900 upcharge we were forced to pay due to the initial room mix-up. I want to give a special thank you to Mateo, who was incredibly diligent and completely on top of things. He took ownership of the problem and made sure everything was corrected. While our arrival was highly stressful, Mateo’s excellent service completely turned things around and restored our faith in the brand. Original Review:I am writing this review live from the property. Do not stay here if you expect 5-star service, basic empathy, or safety standards. We booked a room for 4 guests. Days before arrival, we proactively emailed the hotel our official voucher and explicitly clarified our party size: 3 adults and 1 teenager. Valamar's own reservations department acknowledged this email. Yet, upon check-in on August 4, the front desk claimed the booking was only for 3 people.I spent hours at the desk pleading for a room that would safely fit my family. The only answer I kept getting was a dismissive "we are sold out, no rooms are available." Their eventual "solution" for the first night was to cram 4 of us into a tiny 3-person room by tossing an extra mattress on the floor. This mattress completely blocked our balcony door, creating a severe fire hazard and a blatant safety violation.The next day, suddenly a room magically became available, but management extracted a €900 upcharge under duress just to move us into a space legally rated for our party size. Valamar President ignored their own email acknowledgment, put my family in physical danger on night one, treated us with total indifference, and then penalized us financially. Unacceptable for a luxury brand.

I had a wonderful stay at the President hotel in Dubrovnik. The views were absolutely magnificent—waking up to the sparkling Adriatic and stunning Dubrovnik scenery was unforgettable. What truly made my experience special, though, was the staff. Everyone was incredibly warm, welcoming, and attentive, always going the extra mile to make me feel comfortable and cared for. Especially Davor and Predrag took a great care of me at breakfast! Their genuine hospitality made my stay feel personal rather than simply being another hotel visit. A fantastic choice for anyone looking for beautiful surroundings, a relaxing atmosphere, and outstanding service.

Overall we enjoyed our holiday but would not say that we had a 5 star experience. The room facilities were basic and bar overpriced for the food and drinks we got. The pool was too cold to comfortably swim in and not all of the spa was available. We would have expected more for the price we paid. We felt like second class citizens to the V level guests who have private restaurant and areas of the pool and beach. We used the diving centre once and paid £120 euros for two of us to use seabobs for 20mins. We were the only people on the beach/around the diving centre but the staff called us back 19 minutes in so we felt very rushed when it didn’t seem necessary. I think you could get a similar experience at most 4 star hotels, for a much better price. We were disappointed overall and wouldn’t stay at a Valamar hotel in future

Having worked in the travel industry for 40 years and stayed in countless hotels around the world, I can honestly say that the Valamar Dubrovnik President is one of the finest hotels I have experienced. From the moment we arrived, everything was exceptional, but what really makes this hotel stand out is the friendliness and genuine warmth of the staff. We chose a V Level room as we were celebrating our wedding anniversary, and it was absolutely perfect. The room was spacious, modern and beautifully appointed, with a fridge, both a separate bath and shower, an excellent hairdryer, plenty of mirrors, and more than enough cupboard and drawer space. The bathrobes and slippers were incredibly soft, and the Rituals toiletries were a lovely touch. We also had a beach bag and flip-flops provided. The V Level experience really is exceptional. There is a separate check-in area, and our own dedicated breakfast area, where breakfast was served until 11am with table service. A special mention to Marija, who looked after us so beautifully every morning. But for us, one of the biggest advantages of V Level was the dedicated beach area. Having our own section meant that even at 11:30am there were still front-row sunbeds available — something that makes such a difference during a busy summer stay. There is also a separate V Level area by the pool. The attention to detail was wonderful. There was a stand at the beach with water, orange juice, nuts and fruit, and we had waiter service for food and drinks. A very special mention must go to Karmen, who was absolutely wonderful — so friendly, happy and funny. She went around in the afternoon with freezing cold towels, which were absolute heaven in the Dubrovnik heat! And then there is the V Level lounge, where from 5–6pm you can enjoy Prosecco and nibbles. It was such a lovely way to finish the afternoon. Our room had the most beautiful sea view, and we watched the most incredible sunsets every evening. I believe all the rooms are sea-facing, which must be one of the hotel’s greatest assets. Our balcony had a table and chairs as well as sun loungers, and we had sunshine on the balcony in the afternoon — absolutely perfect for sun worshippers like us! The hotel also has a good-sized gym which is open 24 hours, which was another bonus. The beach is shingle, so I would recommend bringing beach shoes, but the water is incredibly clear and clean. There is also waiter service on the beach. For getting into Dubrovnik Old Town, there is a bus stop directly outside the hotel, and you can buy tickets from the shop in the hotel -although we mainly used Uber, which was around £14 each way. There are also a handful of shops and restaurants around a five-minute walk away. We ate at Piramide, which we really enjoyed. I genuinely cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. It was, quite simply, perfect, and after staying in so many hotels, I honestly cannot think of a single thing I would improve. Finally, a very special and heartfelt thank you to Matko and Goran. You both went above and beyond to make our anniversary stay so special, and words genuinely cannot express how grateful we are for your kindness and help. Thank you to everyone at the President for making our wedding anniversary so incredibly special. We will absolutely be back. ❤️
