Remisens Hotel Albatros

Average rating is due to the good indoor pool which seemed new, and the okay wellness area. Rooms were clean and functional. We slept well. Satisfactory for a one night stay to catch a flight home. Overall breakfast food quality was not good quality. There were too many issues for us; fruit was not ripe, dry/not sweet. The mushrooms looked like they were reheated from yesterday as they were shrivelling up already at 7am when breakfast starts. Cheese was bland. No tables were being cleared so very quickly, all you could see were dirty tables. For buffet style dining, staff should be clearing tables constantly. Chairs which were soft seat coverings were stained, this detracts from the overall impression. On a positive note, the freshly fried eggs and the little sausages were delicious, cheese omelette was enjoyed by my husband. And I was impressed that chia seeds and sunflower seeds were available. Hotel was dated in many parts, and staff could be friendlier. For us, we would not return.

The lack of friendliness from staff immediately puts me off of saying anything positive. The cleaners on floor 2 and the men on aqua gym were LOVELY, as well as a ginger lady in the resterant. Everyone else genuinely was NOT nice which is just so disappointing. Food was fine but definitely not much choice when they are claiming to be 4 star. The location is the clear selling point and whilst rooms were nice with spacious balcony (we had a corner one) and air con (although hard to control) we would come back to cavtat but not this hotel unfortunately as it was very pricey for what it was to us.

Hotel Albatros has some excellent features, but unfortunately the restaurant experience let it down for us. The rooms are comfortable, clean and well maintained, and the hotel has fantastic facilities, including three swimming pools, tennis courts, a football pitch and much more. The pool areas are particularly impressive, with stunning sea views. The children's play area at the back of the hotel is also excellent, and our 6-year-old daughter really enjoyed it. Our biggest disappointment was the food and the overall restaurant experience. While the restaurant staff worked hard, they seemed to lack supervision and support from management. There was often no one overseeing the restaurant, which resulted in long queues, waiting for tables, and regular shortages of plates, cutlery and coffee mugs. We also found the quality and variety of the food to be poor, and the atmosphere in the restaurant wasn't particularly enjoyable. In the end, we chose to eat out on several occasions and were very glad we hadn't booked full board. It's a real shame because the hotel has so much potential. With better food and improved restaurant management, it could be a much better experience. As it stands, we feel the hotel offers more of a 3-star experience than the 4-star standard we were expecting. Cavtat and Dubrovnik are both absolutely beautiful and were the highlights of our holiday. Sadly, we wouldn't return to this hotel, but we would happily return to the area.

We had a lovely stay overall and would definitely consider returning. The hotel's location is excellent – it's very close to the airport, with plenty of bars and restaurants nearby. It's also a lovely walk down to the harbour, making it an ideal base for exploring the area. Our room was spacious, spotlessly clean, and we had a pool and side sea view, which was lovely. The only issue we had was on the first night when my 14-year-old son couldn't sleep on the sofa bed because it was extremely hard. I ended up sleeping on it myself, and it honestly felt like sleeping on a board. We spoke to reception about upgrading to a room with three proper beds, but unfortunately the hotel was fully booked. However, the staff quickly came up with a solution by adding a mattress to the sofa bed, and it completely transformed it into a comfortable bed. We really appreciated how quickly they resolved the issue. A nice touch was that both the room safe and beach towels are free to use. We booked all inclusive, but it's important to have realistic expectations. The food isn't fine dining, but there was a reasonable variety at each meal. Lunch and dinner usually included four vegetable options such as mushrooms, aubergine, mixed vegetables and asparagus, along with chicken, pork, two fish dishes, roast potatoes, mashed potatoes, two pasta dishes and sometimes a rice dish. There was also a well-stocked salad bar, fresh bread, two soups (usually one meat and one vegetable), and plenty of fresh fruit. Pizza was available on some days, along with chips occasionally. Breakfast offered fried eggs, boiled eggs and omelettes, as well as bacon, sausages, beans and continental breakfast options. My son is quite a fussy eater, so if there wasn't pizza or chips available, he often struggled to find something he wanted. Because there are so many lovely restaurants nearby, we chose to eat out quite often. It was actually nice to enjoy table service, relax together as a family and avoid queuing at the buffet. If you're eating in the hotel, I'd recommend arriving when the restaurant opens, as it gets busier later. Breakfast is served from 8:00–10:00 am, lunch from 12:00–2:00 pm and dinner from 7:00–9:00 pm. There is also a snack bar serving a limited selection of food between 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm. One suggestion for the hotel would be to offer pizza and chips every day, as I think this would make the all-inclusive option much more appealing for families with children. The drinks weren't particularly memorable, although the pear liqueur with milk was surprisingly delicious and definitely worth trying! Overall, the cleanliness of the hotel, the fantastic location and the genuinely friendly staff made our stay very enjoyable. While I would happily stay here again, I probably wouldn't choose the all-inclusive package next time, simply because there are so many excellent restaurants within walking distance.

Beautiful location, stunning views. Short walk to anything you need. Food times were limited and very much the same which was surprising for an 4* some meal times were better than others, bar options limited. The rooms are ok and balcony small. We had an amazing stay and loved our time in Croatia. Everyone was lovely. I would recommend just would edge more to a 3* i liked gate access, the other hotel - epidurus you can walk straight through the grounds which I was surprised at. So looking at the two I’m glad we booked here.
