Valamar Lacroma Dubrovnik

Booked this holiday location through Jet 2 but was sadly disappointed, not a 4star location but a Conference Centre with a multitude of companies & lanyard wearing individuals everywhere! The only tourists we seen were coach parties using this location as a stop over in the evenings On the local hotel maps Valamar Lacroma is not listed , all the sister hotels adjacent example President right next door , even the signage locally points to this as the Lacroma Conference Centre! This 2/3 star hotel is good for what it is meant for a Conference Centre not as a “ Holiday Resort” It’s obvious it’s in the middle of a large area owned by this hotel group they are out to wring your pockets out of every red cent you have , Very few local shops & restaurants so unless you are prepared to sit on a bus to Dubrovnik Old Town or pay 25 euros for a taxi you are trapped. You need to be fit to survive this hotel outside is all up& down hills Items you would think that would come automatically in a 4 star establishment are not there no hair dryer or makeup mirror in the toilet then there’s the shaver socket 1.7 metres up the wall & incorrectly fitted the spring cap covering it pulls down instead of lifting up , this means any water vapour from the shower condensing on the wall may run down into the socket the outcome of that ? By the way I spent my working life as a Health & Safety Inspector therefore what is not obvious to some people is blatant to me . Another H&S breach is the set up of tables & chairs in a corridor that is a registered fire escape route , the corridor to the scenic lift also has the staircase exit on it the exit door swigs into the 2.5m corridor of which 2/3rds of it is blocked by tables & chairs so instead of being a clear exit to a double fire door exit it is halved in width . These things are never noticed until it’s too late. I could go on but I think you will realise I am not impressed with this hotel & the false claims made by Jet 2 !

As usal we had a great stay. I especially want to point out the fantastic buffet restaurant. The food is great, choices for everybody, very professional staff - quick and always friendly. Lacroma will always be my first choice.

I would like to warmly thank all the hotel staff for the excellent support and assistance during our stay. My husband suddenly fell ill and his response was exceptional. He was prompt, discreet, substantial, but still very humane. He helped us with everything we needed, showing real interest and understanding, which made such a difficult situation much more manageable. It is not only a wonderful, clean hotel with very nice rooms and wonderful food, but it also has wonderful people, distinguished by humanity, something rare these days. I also thank the wonderful girls at the reception. I don't know the names of Dubravna alone. Also. all the restaurant staff and especially Mariza. With appreciation, Doxa Zisimatos.
