Valamar Tirana Hotel

We had a beautiful holiday in Croatia. It is such a clean and beautiful country with stunning scenery, and overall we really enjoyed our stay. There were lots of positives about the hotel. The food was beautiful, with plenty of choice, and the service throughout the resort was excellent. The pool service was particularly good, and whenever we had a problem or needed something, the staff were quick to help. Maro World is absolutely wonderful and was one of the real highlights of the holiday. The kids absolutely loved it! It is very impressive, with so much for children to enjoy, and we were really impressed with the facilities. The spa massage was really lovely, and we also enjoyed spending time at the Oliva Bar. One thing that really stood out was how helpful the hotel was when a member of our family became ill. We needed an additional room, which we paid for, and the hotel helped arrange this and organised a taxi to take us to the hospital. We were very grateful for their help at what was a worrying time. There were, however, a few negatives. This is a very large, captive resort complex, and once you are there, you are quite reliant on what is available within the resort. Some of the rooms are also quite overlooked. The shops on the island are very limited and extremely expensive, and because there isn’t much alternative nearby, you can feel like a captive audience when buying food, drinks or other essentials. The drinks are nice, but again, they are very expensive. The evening entertainment was probably one of the biggest disappointments for us. Outside of Maro World, we found the evenings quite flat. You can go to Coral Reef Beach for a different atmosphere, but this can quickly become a very expensive evening. Overall, there are definitely areas that could be improved, particularly the prices, shopping options and evening atmosphere. However, the excellent food, great service, lovely pool area, fantastic Maro World and helpful staff were real highlights. Croatia itself is absolutely beautiful. We had a wonderful family holiday, made some lovely memories and thoroughly enjoyed the stunning surroundings.

We stayed here as a large family group in the first week of August and loved every moment. We had ages in the group ranging from 11 up to nearly 80. The rooms were modern, clean, spacious and with great aircon. We haven't been on a resort-style holiday before so weren't sure what to expect from the buffet. We had breakfast in the restaurant every morning and ate at the buffet every evening too - we didn't get tired of the options but did wish that the churros balls had been on offer more than one night! We ate at the Olivia bar most lunches too and enjoyed the food and service there. The main pool was great - it was always possible to find a seat or lounger, even if we might have not got our first choice. We only discovered the Lacroma pools later on in the week and enjoyed these slightly quieter areas too. Despite there being lots of children around it never felt like it took anything away from the holiday or kids were too loud, etc. Finally and most importantly were the staff. The service was exceptional and everyone we dealt with was great, really good. Nevenka the concierge helped us organise a very special birthday surprise. Paula and Alejo in the Mediterraneo Restaurant were were always friendly and helpful, personal touches like this make a big difference. They gave us some advice on local sightseeing and we were even able to give them some tips about an upcoming overseas trip they have planned.

An Exceptional Family Holiday at Valamar Tirena Hotel & Olive Bar & Grill We have just returned from an absolutely wonderful stay at Valamar Tirena Hotel in Dubrovnik, and we honestly cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. From the moment we arrived, everything about our experience was exceptional. The entire hotel team were fantastic — professional, friendly, welcoming and genuinely committed to making sure guests have the best possible stay. Our rooms were cleaned every day to an excellent standard, and the whole hotel was beautifully maintained. If you are travelling with children, this hotel is absolutely fantastic. There are so many facilities, activities and entertainment options available for children throughout the day, giving them plenty to enjoy while also allowing parents to relax and enjoy their holiday. Our children had an amazing time, and it really made the experience feel like a proper family holiday. We also had the pleasure of meeting the hotel manager, Goran, on our first day. He was incredibly welcoming and went out of his way throughout our stay to make us feel special. His personal attention and genuine care made such a difference and helped make our holiday truly unforgettable. It is clear that the hotel is managed by someone who genuinely cares about both his guests and his team. Olive Bar & Grill — Outstanding Food & Service During our stay, we had lunch every day at Olive Bar & Grill by the pool, and it quickly became one of the highlights of our holiday. Our waiter, Tonchi, deserves a very special mention. He was absolutely exceptional. Always professional, polite, warm and incredibly kind, Tonchi consistently went above and beyond to make our family feel welcome. He always recommended dishes from the menu, and his recommendations never disappointed. The food was consistently outstanding and prepared to the highest standards. Our favourites were the lamb fritters and the pizzas, which were absolutely delicious. But what made Tonchi so special was the personal service. He always took time to speak with our entire family, including the children, greeted us warmly and would always shake our hands. His friendliness and genuine care made us feel like royalty rather than simply hotel guests. Tonchi also recommended wonderful restaurants and places to visit in Dubrovnik, which helped us discover even more during our stay. His knowledge, kindness and attention to detail were truly appreciated. Fantastic Food Throughout the Hotel It wasn't just Olive Bar & Grill either — the restaurants throughout the hotel were fantastic, with excellent food and consistently high standards. There was plenty of choice, and every meal we had was enjoyable. A Truly Memorable Stay What really stands out about Valamar Tirena is that it is more than just a beautiful hotel — it is the people who make the experience so special. From Goran and the management team, to Tonchi and everyone working across the restaurants and hotel, every member of staff contributed to making our holiday feel special. A huge thank you to Goran, Tonchi and the entire Valamar Tirena team for giving our family such an incredible experience. You made us feel welcomed, valued and genuinely looked after from beginning to end. We would 100% recommend Valamar Tirena Hotel, particularly to families with children. The facilities, activities, food, cleanliness, location and — above all — the exceptional staff make this a truly special place. And if you visit Olive Bar & Grill, ask for Tonchi — you will not be disappointed. He is an absolute credit to the restaurant and the hotel. We left with wonderful memories and genuinely did not want to leave. We would happily return to Valamar Tirena, and we sincerely hope that when we do, Goran and Tonchi will still be there to welcome us back. Thank you for making our family holiday unforgettable.

Wonderful family holiday. Beautiful setting, staff friendly, great food. 100 percent recommend. Ideal location for getting to the old town to and beach also. Worth visiting the Oliva grill too, we ate there a lot and service and food was incredible! Special note re Tonci and his wonderful service there also. We will be back!

Location: excellent, we loved that it was a little Out of the city centre so that we could experience the beautiful views and more relaxing vibe in lapad. Bus was on time and every 10-15 mins just outside the hotel. We got bus tickets in the mini markets next to the hotel So it was cheaper than paying on the bus Rooms; we had 2 interconnected rooms for a family of 5 and it was modern, spacious, clean and very comfortable for our week Amenities: maro world was a massive hit with our 3 kids, 8-13 years of age. They loved it . Loads to do, well thought out and a kids paradise . Pool was great, always busy but we always managed to get beds. Food: massive variety at breakfast and dinner and always restocked fairly fast. We always got a seat no problem . oliva restaurant was a lovely lunch option Staff; they couldn’t do enough for us.
