Hotel Admiral

We had a fab week at the Hotel Admiral. The hotel is situated on the 10km lungomare promenade which is perfect if you enjoy scenic coastal walks. There are some nice bars and a great gelato shop (aRoma) situated along the promenade. The spa facilities were great, at no extra charge. The only criticism would be the gym, its very small and basic, improvements needed. The hotel catered fairly well for vegetarians, the food was well cooked and tasty. The food labelling is poor or non-existent, so be very careful if you have any food allergens or are vegetarian. We got caught out twice with meat on our plate through the poor food labelling. Although once this was reported to the restaurant manager they were quick to respond and help. The room was modern and overlooked the harbour, with a nice sitting area on the balcony. The sun terrace area of the hotel is lovely and peaceful, a great touch. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Stayed 6 nights as part of group. Hotel good position, walkable to town centre, decent sized rooms with balconies and lovely view; staff helpful….BUT carpets throughout very stained, basin plugs leak, inadequate lifts for size of hotel, units in rooms badly designed with many sharp corners, inadequate lighting especially in area with kettle…outdoor pool large and pleasant but to access must exit hotel past kitchens, down service road, cross public area, climb flight of rusting steps… Buffet breakfast good, dinner inconsistent ( not always hot) and very crowded. So curate’s egg- could be great but currently not 4+.

Beautiful hotel on the Croatian coast. All rooms have sea views and balconies. Fantastic choice of food at every meal. Very clean and comfortable. Good bar area. Staff very nice and helpful. Has an outdoor pool, an indoor sea pool and a spa. Just a short walk to bars, shops and restaurants - hotel sits on promenade so plenty to see when in your room/balcony. Would say this is a better hotel for couples than families.

We arrived mid afternoon to a lovely welcome from reception staff who explained what we needed to know. Our room was 206, I just couldn’t get my head round that we had to go down in the lift from reception not up! Our room had twin beds pushed together, a nice compact shower room, a stocked mini bar with a place over the top for my travel kettle (reception hire kettles too) and a gorgeous view of the marina. We were very happy with our room. Air con worked whilst we were out so we always came back to a cold room. Sometimes too cold but opening the patio doors soon warmed it up! We asked for a rubber bath mat for the shower and it was delivered next day. Very accommodating. We had bathrobes and slippers. Felt very luxurious. The food (we were half board) was amazing. Cereals and cooked breakfast. Everything you needed apart from toast! But we made do without it. The black tea with milk is like a uk tea. Coffee and hot chocolate from a machine. At dinner you could opt to sit outside but the pigeons drove us mad so we preferred to eat inside. Never a problem finding a table. Fresh veg not tinned. Everything cooked well and sometimes on the spot in front of you. Large choice of food including salads. We couldn’t fault the food at all. The location of hotel Admiral is perfect. 10 min walk to centre of Opatija which is very pretty. Lots to see and do. Bus stop outside takes you to Icici and Lovran. Lovran definitely worth a visit. We did a boat tour to the islands of Krk and Cres. We booked with travel agent under the hotel and had a really good day out. We ate lunch out some days, the lunches in the indoor bar near reception was great quality. Only once did we not enjoy lunch and that was at pool bar. A club sandwich isn’t as advertised! We struggled to eat it. But that was just one out of 14 so mustn’t grumble. Our favourite was Hotel Strauss. The ambience and the decor (and the service and food) was really nice. The pool was nice and even in July absolutely no worry about getting a sun bed. Some days a lot of beds were empty. The pool is cold, but ok once in. No children’s pool. Actually apart from a small room with games in it, wasn’t a lot for children to do. The indoor pool (heated) was nice but some sharp edges in place so be bit careful. Jacuzzi too. Beach towels are collected from here, you can change them daily if needed. There were a couple singing a couple of nights at the hotel but mainly guests did their own thing in the evenings. It’s a very relaxing hotel. Overall we loved Opatija and our holiday at the Hotel Admiral. You certainly won’t go wrong staying here.

We where located in room 123 just above the restaurant which gave a nice view over the harbour. We have had an amazing experience here, from the sauna and the jacuzzi in the indoor pool to the relaxation around the outdoor pool. We where half board, breakfast was plentiful and for those like me that try to eat healthy, fruit is plentiful and I enjoyed the smoothies and chia seed yoghurts that where made fresh every morning. I didn't eat much at dinner, but again if your struggling to find something, there is a huge salad bar. The soup is lovely too with bread rolls made fresh every day. All in all I wish id booked to stay another week ☹️. Just outside the hotel if you take a right you have panoramic views over the sea; if you take a left that's where all the action is. For me, the hotel is in the perfect location due to the walking distance to where you need to go. Unforgettable holiday, thankyou 💖
