Hotel Bellevue

Hotel stuff at the reception is very confusing and incompetent, they had a problem to charge several cards that we gave them because of their lack of knowledge probably at the end they managed to charge them of course but there was a lot of problems and issues during the time they were trying to charge the cards on the check out a lot of wasted time because of their incompetence

Was a grand hotel in its day but well past its prime and way overpriced. Room reeked of cigarette smoke - the curtains and bedspread were infused with it. Disgusting. No non-smoking rooms available, they just “recommend” you don’t smoke in the room.

Hotel facilities and guest rooms were fine. Excellent location. Front desk agent service was average. More of a 3-Star hotel. At checkout, I observed the front desk agent lean over to his left to look at another screen and operate its keyboard This was located beyond the computer screen directly in front of him. I repositioned myself slightly (on the guest side of the front desk) to get a slight glimpse of that “second” screen. It was the hotels’ CCTV screen. He was viewing my guest room and my guest room’s bathroom prior to completing my checkout! Was he was checking to see if the room was intact and no fixtures missing? I was so surprised at the time, I didn’t bother to ask him. Only at this moment did I realize that the (smallish) camera placard affixed to the hotel’s exterior wall to the left of the entrance indicated that the hotel had camera lenses INSIDE the guest rooms and bathrooms! I had initially thought that the camera plaque was informing guests that the grounds and public spaces were under camera surveillance. After departing the front desk, I went to a friend’s guest room (who hadn’t checked out yet), to look for in room camera lenses. Sure enough. Located in center of bedroom at ceiling fixture above the bed was one. The other was also on the ceiling in the bathroom. Clearly visible because I was actively looking for cameras lenses. Reason enough for me to not stay at this hotel again. Can only imagine how their night auditor entertains himself when bored in the middle of the night.

The hotel is a beautiful, old palace, with stone stairs. We love the old flare and had a wonderful seaview room with a balcony. The room was spatious, glamourous, nicely renovated and with a large, comfy bed. We loved it! The reception staff were very kind! Areas for improvement: - the hotel sells only halfboard, however the dinner was of very poor quality not matching four star, not even three star - this was a big disappointment and not value for money - the pool is big and nice however it should be warmed up a bit for winter season.

Very good hotel, but not great. My love and I decided to spend a few days in beautiful Opatija and visit their otherwise beautiful Advent. We had never been in Opatija Advent so we decided to spend a short winter break on our beautiful Adriatic Sea. The hotel we chose, Palace Bellevue, was very good for us in the end. Namely, parts of the hotel are excellent, and parts need finishing touches, so very good, not great. First of all, the staff. The staff was up to the task, professional, polite and courteous. From the people working at the reception, to the people working in the kitchen and restaurant to the people working in the wellness area (gym, saunas, swimming pools). I have no complaints. My compliments. The sauna is excellent, there is a choice between Finnish and Turkish saunas, the pool is nice and large filled with sea water. That part is also great. The hotel itself is decorated in and out in antique style. It is beautiful inside and out, except for parts that need to be repaired. I mostly mean the windows, which are in pretty bad condition. They look dilapidated and everything comes through them when they are closed, noises and cold air in the early morning hours. Our room, which was nice, had very bad windows through which we could very clearly hear the operation of the plant below the room. I think it was the ventilation system and maybe the boiler room. I'm not sure, but it's not nice to hear a buzzing sound when you want to sleep. New windows would solve that problem. The bathroom with the toilet was spacious and nice, I can say clean, although there was a little mold around the handle by the bathtub. But that's a small thing, not a complaint. The biggest problem is the old and dilapidated windows, because after a wonderful day spent in the sauna and pool, and after a fine and very tasty food in the restaurant, a person should be able to rest undisturbed in the room he and she paid for.
