Stayed 1 night here on our way from Ljubljana to Split. We didn’t know what to think because the reviews were mixed. We were happily surprised by our experience. The location was perfect! We were just steps away from the entrance to the park! We had lunch at the Waterfall Restaurant. It’s a bit stuffy (more like fine dining) but the service and food were good. We hiked the Upper Lakes (highly recommend) and it took about 2:30 hours. Wow! The views, lakes, and scenery were breathtaking! Don’t miss the lookout viewpoint in the Upper Lakes. You can see five lakes and it’s beautiful. It is a more challenging hike and not recommended for the elderly or those with physical challenges. I have a lung condition but still made it. Our hotel room was huge! (Room 101A). Yes, it’s outdated and you may not want to walk on the carpet, but it is clean and the beds were great! Our room had 2 bathrooms. The shower was a little awkward and had very hard pressure. Amenities included body wash, lotion, soap and a hair dryer from the 70’s. Breakfast was decent and had a pretty good selection. There is a bar with some very good Croatian beer and a nice gift shop with souvenirs and essentials. Our quick stop in Plitvice was great and as long as you don’t mind outdated furnishing, this hotel is a good choice. .

This is the second time we stayed at this hotel, third including other family members and we are sorry to say we would not stay again. The hotel is at the lakes and one can walk in to the E trail and get a shuttle to the A trail easily and that should have just overcome everything! Unfortunately, the hotel is now overrun by tourist bus groups and worst of all the management and service has deteriorated to the extent that we can truly say it cannot represent Croatia by any standard. The staff is rude and boorish and the management completely indifferent to complaint. The food is now a rather horrible buffet crowded and unmanageable. The rooms are now faded with any views blocked by trees. Do not stay here.

Rating: 3 / 5 Stayed at Hotel Jezero mainly for its unbeatable location right beside Entrance 2 of Plitvice Lakes. That part is fantastic — easy access to the park for early starts or evening walks without needing transport. The restaurants are conveniently located in the hotel, but unfortunately the service has been clearly affected by staff cuts. There are no porters available to help with bags, which is inconvenient after a long trip. In the restaurants (Waterfall and à la carte), the shortage of hands makes everything slow — long waits for tables, orders, and food delivery. This compromises what should be a relaxing dining experience after a full day exploring the lakes. Breakfast and dinner options are acceptable for a national park hotel but nothing special. Rooms are clean but basic, and the hotel overall feels like it’s running with reduced resources. If your priority is just being steps from the park and you don’t mind slower service, it can work. But for the price, I expected better standards in hospitality and staffing.
