Grand Park Hotel Rovinj

We booked this having seen an article about Rovinj in the paper and they recommended the Grand Park, which looked good. It didn't disappoint - in fact it exceeded our expectations. Location It's around a 40 minute drive from Pula airport (small airport with around 10-15 departures a day in September!) and it's about a 15 minute stroll along the waterfront from Rovinj Old Town, with restaurants and bars dotted along the way. So, as far as we were concerned, the perfect location. Design Yes, it's very modern, so probably not everyone's cup of tea, but we loved it. It's around 250 metres long, built on the side of a small hill, so nearly all the rooms have a seaview and, more importantly, a view of the Old Town of Rovinj, which is breathtaking. The restaurants, pools and bars also take advantage of the fantastic views and we spent many happy hours drinking cocktails and watching the sunset over the sea. Just magical Service It's a large "corporate" style hotel, so there's a lot of staff and you won't get the personal touch that you get in a small boutique hotel, but we found all the staff very friendly and eager to please (more so than most similar sized hotels). Check-in and check-out were efficient, we had no issues at all with the cleaning of the room - which is unusual even for a 5 star hotel. Plenty of bottles of water provided, coffee capsules replaced every day, etc. Again, all very efficient. Food and drink Breakfast buffet is excellent (fresh fruit, muesli and cereals, pastries, breads, cheeses, cold meats, salads, sparkling wine(!), etc) and they will cook eggs, etc to order. We didn't try the restaurants for lunch and dinner, but had snacks in the bar, which were also very good. Pool Didn't use it - but nice area on the roof with LOTS of sunbeds. Value It's very much a 5 star hotel, so nothing is cheap, but the price of the drinks, snacks, etc was quite a bit lower than at many of the other 5 star hotels we've stayed in. Some of the negative comments I've read here say it's starting to get tired and yes, there are a few stains on the carpets and a few small signs of wear, but you really do need to be looking for something to complain about for it to affect your holiday. Maintenance generally seemed to be excellent. We will definitely return to the Grand Park.

We originally booked a four-night stay, but we enjoyed our time here so much that we extended our stay by an extra night. The hotel is absolutely beautiful, with stunning views, spacious and comfortable rooms, and lovely swimming pools. One thing we particularly appreciated was that there were always plenty of sunbeds available, making it easy to relax by the pool at any time of the day. The gym was also excellent and well equipped. What truly sets this hotel apart, however, is the people. Every single member of staff we encountered was genuinely friendly, welcoming, and eager to help. Their warm hospitality made our stay even more enjoyable and memorable. We had a fantastic time from start to finish and would happily recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing and high-quality getaway. Thank you to the entire team for such a wonderful stay. We hope to return in the future!

It was the most amazing hotel. We had a fabulous stay there for my husband’s 70th birthday celebrations. Rovinj is so pretty we loved it.

Want the wow factor? Just walk in to Reception where the glass windows overlook the most spectacular view of the heart of the town centre where the church of St Euphemia sits proudly at the top of the hill. The rooms are quirky in style, with industrial cement walls and an Emperor bed that is like sleeping on a huge pillow, gorgeous bathrooms with a huge shower head and Molton Brown toiletries. We had a balcony with a seaview and was worth the extra - the balcony is a great size. Breakfast is one of the best you will find anywhere with a fabulous choice of cold stations and a menu for everything else delivered fresh and hot. We dined one night in the Terrace Restaurant, Expensive but food was good although there are so many incredible restaurants within Rovinj you can walk in to most of them but the really good ones do need a reservation. Had cocktails at the hotel on the terrace - great views again. Plus the pool area is fabulous. A 50m pool that flows inside to out and was beautifully warm. A colder pool with views across to Rovinj town that made you just stand and stare. Great food by the pool and they replenished towels on a regular basis meaning that you never had to really sit on a wet towel for long if you didn't want to. Will we be back - we really hope so. Probably one of my favourite hotels and destinations in the world - and we've been all over!
